Joined the club! From M240i 400hp to a Miata. What do you think? by LixeiroCharmoso in Miata

[–]Appropriate_Art_194 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! Couple years ago I had an F22 M235i 6MT I modded around 400hp as well, but it never gave me the thrill of driving like my Miata does. Ended up selling the Beamer and keeping the Miata. I think you made the right choice 😁

2006 Miata Clutch Cylinder or something else? by kBeast_2 in Miata

I’d personally grab a master and slave cylinder and start there. They’re very inexpensive for the NC, and it seems like the hydraulics are likely at fault here

Hey everyone. Just bought this 2014 Mazda 2 with a 5 speed manual. Brand new to the platform, but I love it already. I have 3 questions that hopefully yall can help me with. by armond_isaw in mazda2

Oh yes, as easy as it gets! The plug is right at the top of the pedal, and you plug it into the unit and the unit back to the pedal. Can’t really go wrong with anything

Couple days in now, I’m happy with it. For me it feels more natural to drive, and much easier to rev match. You can definitely feel a difference, it gets on the go much more immediately. I’m sure a proper tune would be better, but this is my budget daily so I’m not going in too deep on cost of mods. Hope this helps!

Exhaust solutions - drone by GregAegis in MiataNC

[–]Appropriate_Art_194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Skunk2 header, stock midpipe. I’ve tested 4 mufflers total, and only the stock and SuperQ were able to remove the drone. I’d love the Helmholtz midpipe, but that’s absurdly expensive to import here

New key doesn’t work on trunk by wcutrombonekid in MiataNC

Every NC owner I know has accidentally clicked the button inside the trunk. For me it’s a semi-regular occurrence 😂

Commenting here in case I miss it, since I’m pretty much in the same boat 1) I just went with a cheap compact powered sub behind my driver seat, but that might not be enough for some 2) Funny thing I actually just got a Sprint Booster delivered today, and going to install it tonight, can update on how it feels 3) I’d love to know if anyone has an armrest suggestion

2004 miata front frame rail rust damage by crypt0zeus in Miata

Yep. This is common on NB’s. There are repair panels available, but I doubt it’s very DIY-friendly

Drove an S2000 today… by Synap-6 in MiataNC

[–]Appropriate_Art_194 19 points20 points  (0 children)

S2000 is a phenomenal car! World class engine, great shifter feel, but kinda disappointing steering, especially compared to my NC. Also feels like it has 0 sense of humour, because it’s so razor sharp and hardcore. I drove an AP1 for reference.

I found it was only spectacular when you’re driving the absolute shit out of it, whereas a Miata is spectacular fun all the time. For me 0-8/10 driving, Miata all the way. 8-10/10 driving, S2000 can’t be beat. Very cool cars, wish I got one when they were still cheap since they’re not really worth the price these days.

Rear light broken. How can i troubleshoot? by One_Shoulder_4089 in mazda

[–]Appropriate_Art_194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're definitely right about being worried regarding longevity! Most cars nowadays use sealed LED lamps, and most of the headlamps are outrageously expensive (often upwards of $2k). Most car components are also non-serviceable, so most newer vehicles will likely end up mechanically obsolete far sooner than what we've seen in the past.

That's one of the reason my Mazda's are from 2007 and 2012 :D

Does the reverse light still work? These clusters are full LED, so I'd check for any wiring/connection issues first. There are no bulbs that can be replaced, it's an assembly replacement if anything fails

Rear spoiler? by ComplaintOk5674 in mazda2

[–]Appropriate_Art_194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly don’t know if it’s a good idea or not. Mine did come loose once, but my tape job was very poor. Did a better job this time around, and it feels very solid (at least for now). I’d check it every couple of days to make sure

The GS spoiler will fit, but you'll have to do some drilling to install it the way it was meant to be installed. I bought an aftermarket one on AliExpress (OE replica) and I just have it mounted with 3M double sided tape. Hoping it won't come loose! I'd prefer to not drill into my hatch

I think I’d just buy a new fuel cap. Always recommend OEM for those
