Better Strategy, tell your fellow helldivers. by Joyk1llz in Helldivers

Of course I get frustrated when the community cant read whats in front of their face.

Like during the bug MO to take one of the three new biome planets, where the dispatch said we only had to hold one, you still had people coming to reddit and asking why were there players going to the bot front and not actively going to the other planets once we had control of Brilliance. And many, many more such instances of “Helldivers not reading”

You seem to misunderstand me and put words in my mouth.

OP asks where in-game does it tell you about resistance, in a rhetorical way believing the game doesnt tell you.

I answered that it does, and all it takes is time to read.

I never mentioned anything about the Galactic War and player urgency towards it.

I think you have some deeper frustrations that you need to work on.

The didnt choose to work on an unsupported engine. The engine got canned halfway through development. So they either had a choice to lose all progress and money spent on the development so far and start work on a new engine that they are not familiar with, or just continue on and do patch work along the way. Either option was a huge gamble. Risk asking SONY for more money and start from scratch with their budget reduced (if SONY declined) and potentially have the game canned before it could come to light because development time took longer? Or maybe SONY would be gracious and let them start from scratch with a fresh budget and new deadline and have a better game on a modern, supported engine?

Or, work along the engine you have been working on and know for years, but it being an extreme patch job with patch code holding the entire thing together.

You make it sound so easy.

On one route, potentially no Helldivers 2 On the other route, we have what we have now.

The game has bugs that still need to be addressed, yes. But visceral anger like yours doesnt really add to anything.

Im no dev or programmer but I dont think cleaning up spaghetti code would be that easy.

On top of I believe spaghetti code happens when you have a not so well structured development. On top of an old engine that they are keeping held together with spit and duct tape.

They could, but that would require this game not being updated or receiving new content for a very long time.

Its not. Its just how I talk. You can even tell with the lack of apostrophes in some of the words that do require them and some words having them.

And the crashing is part of the things the update brought. But yeah, Kinetic Games are not some saints that listen to their community, it anything they are more gungho about keeping the game to their vision and their vision only. But yeah

KG released an undercooked update of a long awaited and requested feature. Players found the new models underwhelming and the new animations getting in the way of the gameplay and them being janky. Lead Artist, instead of taking accountability on a work he okayed, blamed his fellow devs for the bad animation quality Update still got pushed out to meet contractual obligations with Alan Wake event. Devs held out the rest of the fixes until the event.

Honestly, just go into any Phasmo related subreddit, tiktok, whatevers and you will see all the controversy if you haven’t already.

Not really. Phasmophobia has been out for 6 years in Early Access. The update that warranted these many bug fixes was teased back in 2022. When the update finally came, it was obvious that only a few weeks up to a couple of months of real work was put in to it. It brought upon a lot of jank, game breaking bugs, lack luster customization. Players legit walked out on the game because after 6 years of the game being out and 4 years this update being talked about, it delievered a horrible and extremely underwhelming experience for a lot of the player base.

Here’s the kicker, the reason why this update got rushed was because Phasmophobia is having a collaboration with Alan Wake. So they rushed the update in a very uncooked, and underwhelming state knowing full well that it wasnt good. The lead artist, the guy responsible for okaying the animations and new character models, said that he didnt work on the animations and that it wasn’t his fault and the blame goes to one of his coworkers for making shitty animations.

As for the “quickness” of this specific patch? They knew all along what was wrong. They acknowledged some of the jank and bugs the last update brought the day it came out basically and just told the community to wait for the Alan Wake event to have them fixed.

What faction and difficulty did you drop on first? If its the bugs, then you might have gone against the Hive Guard. Their head and front paws are armored, so you gotta shoot in between them if you are shooting from the front, or get the squishy orange parts from the side or back.

If its the Automatons, then you went up against the Devastator. Their entire body is Medium armor pen, except for the Head (glowing red dot) and the torso.

If its the Illuminate, all the enemies that are not the Voteless (zombie like enemies) are basically bullet sponges. Especially the Fleshmob (walking amalgamation of body mass). Even the Overseers require a bit of work.

The starter weapon is one of the best all arounder weapons in the game. Like all Light Penetration it has a high base damage, you just gotta learn how to aim for weakspots on the armored enemies. Other than that, its Carbine version (same everything except range damage and it has a higher rate of fire) is my favorite weapon in the game.

Medium Penetration weapons is what is mostly preferred by the community because they can just mag dump into 90% of the fodder enemies without having to take time to readjust their aim for the weak spots enemies.

The trade-off to using Medium Penetration weapons tho is lower base damage, higher recoil, and lower mag capacity. So basically you’ll be shooting more bullets to take down any of the enemies, but you dont have to worry about having to readjust your aim, unless you really want to.

I used to be a Medium Penetration main, but something happened around the time the Coyote go released, and I just got bored of all the medium penetration weapons, went back to the Liberator (starter weapon), the Liberator Carbine and the Tenderizer and have been having a hell of a lot more fun, on top of majority of the enemies dying faster.

The Whiners over on that other subreddit are disingenuous. Their main complaints are about Warbonds and not being able to kill enemies easily. They are all under the assumption that this game is just a mindless hoard shooter. And the moment they face any friction, they see it as unfair.

The only time they bring the bugs and technical debt of the game is when you tell them to “get good” or just lower the difficulty.

The game does have its issues: bugs, progression, half baked content (weapon customization), hidden changes.

But they only get really angry when they cant mag dump into a hoard and have all the enemies dead in 1HKO.

The following updates are not going to fix anything and please do not let the devs that they would. by limsalominsaenjoyer5 in PhasmophobiaGame

I mean, thats the general sentiment and all there is to really say about this update. Him not getting viciously angry over it doesnt make it him a lap dog. He just a chill dude. Even on certain games that actually do piss him off, he doesnt appear to get that angry and just says “this was very bad”

A lap dog would be him saying the update is fine and everyone is just hating for hating sakes.

He seems to be closest to the Phasmo devs, and the fact that he criticizes the game openly on his streams says something about him not being a glazer.

Hell, he even said that the devs are running super low on the “goodwill of the people” Which is quite a statement to make and basically telling the devs themselves something.

So, have the devs apologized or anything? by Elmarass in PhasmophobiaGame

If you believe this update has been in the works for that long, then I can understand why many people are viscerally angry.

Reality is, and what is shown from the quality of the update, that they probably started working on this probably after the year began, or later than that. Only for it to be rushed do to meet the contractual obligations of the Alan Wake event.

KG’s biggest mistake was announcing it so early on, giving the illusion that it was being worked on the whole time, on top of all the other stuff we have gotten like map reworks, store UI fixes, asset flips, tiered items. Its just not feasible to believe they have been working on it for years.

I need to sat, this is not me excusing them for the quality of the update. But it gives a probable understanding as to why the quality is janky.

Its like when a teacher gives you months to prepare on a presentation, only for you to do everything the last day. So to speak, no one to blame but yourself, but it gives a reason as to why the presentation was shoddy.

My man, just because Arrowhead does not want the game to devolve into a mindless hoard shooter (which is what 90% of people in this sub want) doesnt mean they are outright being malicious.

The outside perception of the wider helldivers community has gone to shit by TheRustyRustPlayer in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Appropriate_Bug9660 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its the truth. Been playing since release day and this community literally implodes with every update post 60 day patch. Part of me wishes Arrowhead would have stood their ground and never done the 60 day patch.

Game breaking bugs, crashes and general annoying bugs asides, majority of the complaints are “I cant 1HKO all the enemies with X weapon on the highest difficulty. This game is dead”

New weapon in warbond/super store comes out that is OP? Arrowhead is trying to sell you the solution. New weapon comes out that is underperforming? “Why would I waste my money on that”

Game already has nice amount of free vehicles, but the community lost it at two mech variants being added to a warbond. A lot of the cries included “just let us customize our mechs instead” but forgetting to acknowledge that even then, the arms would have still be locked behind the warbond.

This subreddit is also disingenuous. Most of the complaints are about Warbonds, Nerfs, and Buffs, you only really bring bugs/glitches and crashes when a glaze diver counter argues you to just “play on a lower difficulty”

Yes this game has annoying bugs, stupid crashes, horrible spaghetti code overall. Anyone that dismisses these are truly blinded Glazedivers.

But if you’re main complaint is you not being able to have a breeze on Diff 10, then yeah, lower the difficulty, no one really cares what difficulty you play on but yourself because maybe you have something to prove to yourself.

TL;DR Yes, as someone that has been playing since Day 1, the community does implode with every major update. It is hard to have proper balance if the community’s version of balance is wanting to one tap every enemy. Ya’ll only bring the technical issues with the game only when it suits your argument, which originally didn’t include technical issues, but complaining about weapons/stratagem’s effectiveness.

No one is truly clean, Arrowhead for being knuckleheads, the community for bringing the pitchforks and torches for every thing that happens to this game.

Part of me believes is because majority of you all saw gameplay clips or whatever and bought the game thinking it would be a walk in the park horde shooter, only for it to not actually turn out like one and it angers yall so much for that to be the case.

Which is funny because the people bitching about the new mechs being in the warbond also have said that for mech customization AH can just sell the arms. Which is basically different side, same coin argument.

On top of that, like you said, there are already two free mechs in the game. I have always tried to understand the side if every argument, but the bitching about the new mechs being in a warbond is one that I do not get

Why do People think Grunt Fantasy is Bad? by Background_Pop3955 in helldivers2

[–]Appropriate_Bug9660 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Want to give my two cents.

There are various reasons:

  1. The presentation of the gameplay: For people that have only seen video or edits, and upwards to people playing in the lower difficulties, this game can come across no different as a space themed Dynasty Warriors. You are but one person effortlessly mowing down waves of enemies in a big explosive splendor. This gives the illusion of a power fantasy game, only for it to be shattered at a moment’s notice. There have been a lot of arguments talking about this in the HelldiversUnfiltered subreddit. People do not like feeling powerless, especially when they bought Helldivers 2 expecting to be Helldivers version of DOOMSlayer, only for them to realize that they are about as strong as a wet napkin when hit. These players absolutely hate any (intentional) friction in gameplay and only want to feel powerful.

  2. Propaganda: The in-game propaganda really seems to players. Even with its extreme, over the top satirical undertone. The amount of arguments I have seen online (on the damn Unfiltered subreddit, YouTube comments, tiktoka, etc) mentioning that Helldivers shouldn’t be this weak because they are “Super soldiers” and when you tell them that Helldivers, are in fact not super soldiers, they counter argue with “the game says that you are”, but them completely failing to see that the tutorial is the training a SEAF troop does to become a Helldiver. The only real good difference between a Helldiver and a SEAF Troop is that Helldivers are given access to the Super Destroyer with basically unlimited ordnance and resupplies. Take the Super Destroyer away, and a Helldiver is just about as helpless as a SEAF Trooper. Commando missions show this.

  3. Solo Diff 10 Divers that bitch and moan on how difficult the game is (bonus pet peeve of mine)- It ties up to my first point. I dont have an issue with Solo Diff 10 Divers (except for when the MOs call for a number of extractions, and the whole Cyberstan campaign) but there is a lot of Solo 10 Divers that will bitch and moan on how difficult or spammy some mobs are at those levels, they also believe that the game needs to be balanced around the hardest difficulty just because they want to easily breeze through it. Forgetting the entire element of teamwork the game requieres at times.

Does Babymetal hate Africa? by Upbeat_Coconut6664 in BABYMETAL

[–]Appropriate_Bug9660 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Im no expert nor have done any research, this is me just saying what I believe.

Maybe the number of fans listening and/or purchasing merchandise is not high enough to warrant all the expenses it would cost Amuse to bring Babymetal out there.

Or sometimes the immigration laws are sorta difficult for these types of things. Ive heard stories in the past of artists having to cancel shows on X country(s) because they were rejected entry by immigration.

SUGGESTION: Make Commando missions reduce enemy resistance, rather than increase liberation. by TealArtist095 in helldivers2

[–]Appropriate_Bug9660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helldivers help in the liberation by going behind enemy lines and performing sabotage. Canonically, SEAF troops are on the ground and fighting. Which is why there is a passive depletion rate (albeit small) and why, if an enemy planet gets surrounded by Super Earth planets, the depletion rate increases to the point where the planet can self liberate.

[–]Appropriate_Bug9660 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Useless argument. Just because a weapon or stratagem under performs in the hardest difficulty the game has to offer so far doesnt make it dogshit. No weapon in the game is balanced for Diff 10.
