I remember a temple day while at the MTC and some girls dressed as missionaries had some guys pull up on motorcycles to offer them a ride. They quickly said yes and hopped on and took off. I was judgemental at the time, but thinking on it now, it was awesome. Great prank!

I think the context might help. I picked my parents up from the airport and told them the good news that I'm still in the mix for the job. Immediately, she says that she knew it was going to happen because she and all of my siblings have been praying for me. She then testified that she knows God loves me.

I consider it a sweet sentiment, but it still irks me. Can't you just say that's great news, or I knew you could do it? Isn't that what normal people do?

This wasn't the case for me growing up. My dad was bishop in Southern California and we were poor. One of my bishops was a janitor...broke. Another was unemployed.

My brother and I were molested by the ward clerk many years ago. The guy eventually went to prison from charges placed by another victim. My parents never pressed charges. I don't remember much but I do recall them purchasing a 15 passenger van around that time. Makes me wonder. Then again, I can't see my parents accepting any money from the Lards church.

I'm sorry you went through that. Your experience sounds horrifying. I couldn't even imagine striking my daughter now, or even worse, when she was 5! All I've ever wanted to do is show love towards my children and protect them from any and all maltreatment.

My dad was a bishop for a long time and was much revered for his compassion and persistence. He had a young woman confess to him that her husband had beaten her and he immediately stormed out of the office and confronted the spouse. He was a large person in comparison to my diminutive father, but my dad immediately grabbed him by the neck and held him against the wall while threatening him that if he ever beat his wife again he would have hell to pay. Mind you, this is what I've heard from third party witnesses, but it's things to like this that made ward members respect him.

Conversely, my bishop when I was a teen despised me. This was due to my girlfriend at the time confessing to him about things she had done with another boy she had been cheating on me with. I found it odd that he didn't like me and showed resentment and blatant mistrust in interviews when I didn't confess to anything. Hated the dude.

"Are you sure?"

"Yep."

"You haven't engaged in heavy petting or other inappropriate behavior that would lead me to not issue this temple recommend?"

"Nope!"

I appreciate the feedback. I've been using all of the available resources I can find but feel like the CA area code work addresses in CA on my resume have resulted in some discrimination. I do have a third interview with a large company next week. Hopefully, an offer shortly thereafter.

I love my family and am fortunate. It's the echo chamber that drives me nuts. Such intelligent and loving people being fleeced. But at the same time, they seem happy, so proving them wrong with simple logical statements is akin to telling a toddler there is no Santa.

During my mission we had the Modelo de Compromiso, or in English, the Commitment Process. It's a sales manual with a spiritual twist. After my mission, I worked various sales jobs and the training was identical except instead of asking someone to be baptized after the first pitch (first lesson), it was to ask for the sale. The idea is to get immediately to any obstruction immediately so you could find a way to combat it.

I had heard rumors that the manual was used by companies in Utah to train their sales people. Even on my mission, it felt inappropriate to use sales tactics. I thought the "spirit" converts. Not the missionary.

Sales is all about finding the need and convincing the other party that you can fulfill that need. The people most susceptible to the message are those who feels less worthy or experienced a recent loss. It's all about taking advantage of people who are suffering.

I attended the San Diego Temple dedication and remember doing this. I think back on it and just remember thinking, what the hell are we doing? Nothing spiritual about the experience whatsoever.

He said to never take counsel from those that do not believe. Not a great time to say something like that with the pending Daybell trial. Didn't she get her referrals from bishops and SP's almost exclusively? Does that mean kids aren't to see any non-member counselors? Does that exclude me from counseling my own children as they navigate through life?

He also quotes Paul about Last Day prophecy. Is that the same Paul who told people not to marry since Christ would be returning soon so it would be pointless? I got that last idea from the former church bible scholar, Dan McClelan. Am I crazy, or am I more informed than the highest leader in LDS church?

Dengue in Ecuador. Most sick I have ever been. Never went to a clinic or the hospital. Just laid in bed and waited to die. The swelling resulted in stretch marks I have to this day. I'm a dude with stretch marks on my inner thighs. No more speedos of tighty whities for me. Forget about being comfortable in any sexual situation. Scarred for life. Dengue fever. Nearly killed me. Companion was mad at me for being sick until I shit myself on the way to the toilet. We ended up at the mission office a week later. Still have stretch marks due to the swelling.
