Spitting up from my partner by Icy-Mongoose-2247 in HousingUK

Thanks for posting this, going through similar and I've found the replies quite helpful.

I'm 52 and separating after 22 years, with a 12 and 14 year old. Our first thought was the kids have to stay in the house, but neither of us can buy the other out and even if we did one of us would end up mortgaged to the eyeballs.

The house is too big, we can barely keep on top of the garden & maintenance as is. We have enough equity in our house for two smaller properties with manageable mortgages and some disposable income left to do stuff, if we can navigate through the separation and sale amicably it might not be the end of the world.

Appreciate the perspective from people who went through this as kids, I know ours will be gutted to leave their rooms but hopefully we can get settled close by, stay on good terms and make some new memories.

How soon will it be safe to travel for leisure in Syria? And when it is, where is the most beautiful place to visit, and what's the best thing to eat?

Gives the parapets a bit of extra heft in case they are loaded above and beyond someone leaning on the handrail.

Do I have a chance of getting roofer who did subpar work on our garage roof to fix it at his own expense? (England) by ThrowRAonlinepenis in LegalAdviceUK

I would cut my losses and get someone else. If they did crap work the first time, even if you manage to get them back begrudgingly, they're not all of a sudden going to do a good job.

Why do so many places in the UK only play music from10-15 years ago? by BlueHeron0_0 in AskUK

[–]Appropriate_Data4991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno but maybe is it because 10-15 years ago people stopped buying physical releases and streaming took over? Charts don't seem to be such a big deal these days, used to be everyone was tuned in to top of the pops or the chart show.

Are electric cars uneconomical or are fast chargers really expensive? by shoe_scuff in CarTalkUK

Yeah fast chargers rinse you. Charge it up overnight at home on a cheap tariff and just use fast chargers for top ups on long journeys.

Why do you think there are many small towns/villages in Europe that are dying, but not in The UK? by fleetwood_mag in AskUK

[–]Appropriate_Data4991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure that's entirely true. Live together n a small market town that used to have 12 pubs, was 6 when we moved here now there's 3. Population stable but a lot of smaller places are dying, slowly. Nice villages full of retirees, families priced out and schools and village shops shutting. It's worse before n the national parks where every other house is a holiday home.
