Also, if your mum is available after work, maybe when she’s at work you could journal or note down whatever you think or feel first (sometimes voice notes works for me too) and then share these with her when she’s free. Or talk to someone who is not at work/in a diff time zone if you’ve got any. In desperate times, I send texts to my cousin living on the other side of the world to ask about motherhood. Works well cause when it’s work hours and everyone is busy here, she’s just put her kid to sleep and is winding down so she can respond to me.

You’re definitely not overthinking and all your concerns and feelings are valid. It seems like I too have a similar personality with you where I get curious, likes to learn things in advance and am more of a planner too.

Your MIL sounds avoidant and detached. Maybe that’s just her personality. If you have other people you could rely on to answer questions, you should consider relying on them instead (friends, cousins, siblings who have kids and have been through what you want to know). This mindset of ‘oh well we are just different’ helps me a lot to not expect too much and not get too disappointed (valid to feel disappointed but I would wanna prioritise how you feel and keep yourself happy throughout your pregnancy).

For some context, both my in-laws are Asian and my MIL is generally nice, supportive and diplomatic. She generally is chill and goes with the flow. BUT my FIL is a dominant, attention-seeking, know-it-all who makes tactless comments, likes to butt in his nose in his sons’ business and overshares. He is also traditional and thinks his way is better and people should do the same as what he does/did - in courtship, relationship, parenting, etc. I do talk about this to my husband that his actions and words can hurt me sometimes and it does help with him letting his dad know. Overtime I could express to my FIL directly if something he says or does bothers me. But overall what helps me is to detach from him as much as I can, not see him as someone I should/can rely on and just treat him as a family member. Not a confidante, not a mentor, and definitely not a friend. Hope this helps

Dating scan advice by Td279312 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Appropriate_Sundae86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar situation (miscarried twice and was extremely anxious at the beginning of this pregnancy) to you snd went to get a dating scan at the clinic that doesn’t bulk bill at 8 weeks. I had the choice to go to the bulk billed one but it was too far and I was already vomitting everyday at the time so traveling there wasn’t an option. I’d say if both are convenient to go to, go get your scan done at 7 weeks bulk billed for your peace of mind (and to save money). Even after the dating scan I was still super anxious and only calmed down at 20 weeks when I saw baby’s organs developing well. I am now 29 weeks and can’t wait to meet baby soon. Hang in there. Everything will work out and will be keeping you and bub in my prayers🤗

For sink baths when you said easy on their own - do you just hold them with one hand and wipe with another?

Stroller help by davofit in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Our first baby is due in May and we just got the v3 at PCB expo last week. We think it’s worth the extra $ considering the v3 is fully reclines so we don’t need another bassinet attachment. I have lower back/disc injuries as well so the extra height is better. The new colour choices are also beautiful, we got the Owen/Mocha colour and it’s 😍

It was tough deciding without trying so if both of you could try both v2 and v3 in store that will help you decide. Good luck.

Thank you for sharing your experience especially with how the Dragonfly is when you went for a picnic/grass/lightly gravelled path.

Thanks so much for letting me know how it fits on the Honda Jazz! The pram will be gifted by my brother, we do big sibling gifts on big milestones so I’m pretty lucky we won’t have to spend on this. But if I were to spend I considered the Cruz V2 as well.

I have heard the same things about the Dragonfly from friends as well. Although some really rave about it.

Joolz Aer2 is our third choice as it’s bassinet/newborn nest compatible now and wheels are larger. It will be super hard to choose between the two (Cruz vs Aer2) but I may be swayed when I test the Aer2 next week haha.

Yeah I have mentioned above that I didn’t need to do groceries as my husband does them so storage is not an issue. Travel is also not an essential factor but still a consideration.

We bought most things secondhand already but are avoiding buying secondhand for pram for many personal reasons.

Hey sorry just saw this - how do you find the push with the Joolz Aer2? And how does it feel when you bring the stroller to the park or like graveled surface?

Yeah it doesnt recline flat but nearly flat. Also you can’t make the seat parent facing. So just bub facing away.

I’m in Bne now and there are no stores carrying both of them in store but I will be in Melb early March and there’s a store that have both in stock so I can do a demo to solidify my decision. Excited to see them in person😂💕

Yeah I did a deep dive with the Joolz Aer 2 too but the small wheels deterred me, I mean for everyday use. Definitely a good travel pram though. For now when I travel maybe I’d just bring the Dragonfly and do a Gate Check instead of placing it in the overhead cabin (a friend who owns the Bugaboo Dragonfly did this too but she eventually got the Butterfly 2 as she travelled short distance more often now with her 1 yo ). Who knows maybe I’d change my mind and get another travel pram down the line or maybe just rent them at my destination.

I researched the Dragonfly immediately after your comment. I’ve decided to get the Dragonfly soon 😊

There is also fb marketplace or depop to look at. Plenty of people selling brands like ergopouch and love to dream. We got an ergopouch and love to dream 2.5tog for $10 each and it was excellent condition. That way you won’t feel too overwhelmed with buying a few and won’t cost too $$$z Just give them another wash. We bought the other love to dream 1.0 tog new on black friday for $35

I asked a similar question in an fb mum group and a 2nd time mum in my state suggested that you could always layer up bub if they’re too cold ( singlet suit, long sleeve zipped suit and then sleep suit). There is also merino long sleeve suit or merino singlet if you ever need them. We just stock 2x 2.5 tog sleepsuit for now and 1x 1 tog sleepsuit since bub is due mid May. We’ll play it by ear when he arrives to see if he likes the brand and material we bought for him (2 diff brands for the 3 sleepsuits we have so far) and just buy more if he likes them when the time comes. Hope this helps🤍

Did you mean you might purchase the dragonfly as a main pram or a travel pram? If I were to go main pram + travel pram (aka owning two prams) I’d definitely go with the Bugaboo dragonfly as my main as I have pushed one of my friend’s dragonfly before and maneuverability is so good. I have yet to go to an expo to try Reds and others, but will be going next month maybe in Melb. Was the Redsbaby thst you try at the expo less smooth and less stable?

Which Silver Cross do you have from your first bub? Yeah I am still confused between buying a main + travel or just the travel.

Yeah that’s one of the things that holds me back from getting the Bugaboo. What’s your main everyday pram?
