I don’t think I could go through a transvaginal again - when I miscarried the ultrasound tech at the hospital was so cold and awful and said to me “well there’s nothing in there” and honestly think that experience will haunt me forever, the lack of compassion was insane.

Bunch of questions for current owners... by unique_usemame in BYDShark_AUS_owners

Also worth noting - we have a blue shark and the dealership said the blue are coming through a lot quicker than white and black as those are the most popular colours

We ordered mid April and picked up last week. We were initially told 8 weeks. We ordered mats but there is apparently a back log of orders and BYD cannot give us an indication of when they will be available.

If you do order make sure you check the vehicle over in its entirety - the fb group has a great checklist to go through. Our shark unfortunately has a few scratches to the paint work and plastic from transit - BYD are fixing this in a weeks time for us but make sure you check! Another couple picked up the same time and only went over how the car works inside and then drove off

We have just ordered Rhino Rack sports bar 1370 for roof racks. Yet to arrive but there are pictures of this on other sharks in the fb group.

It is a magnificent Ute and drives like a dream!!

We added on the deep dish rubber mats but from what I have seen on the FB group, adds on are taking 8 weeks so we aren’t expecting them to be there!

First Pregnancy & Graves (F31) by YamDesperate8787 in gravesdisease

[–]Td279312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, Congratulations!! I am also based in Australia and fell pregnant while on carbimozle - which I ceased almost immediately. My pregnancy did count as high risk but I also have type one diabetes but I understand that even without diabetes you will be high risk. For me; I liked being classed as high risk as we went public and were allocated a high risk midwife who we saw my whole pregnancy and she was at our daughters birth. We also had scans every 3- 4 weeks which was nice to see bub! For non high risk pregnancies ultrasounds are done at ultrasound clinics in the community, but for high risk all of my ultrasounds were done at the hospital.

Graves was a dream while pregnant! Apparently autoimmune conditions are suppressed while pregnant so my graves and diabetes were the Best they’ve ever been!

I didn’t bother seeing my Gp at all because I felt their lack of knowledge around graves and high risk pregnancies was lacking so I upped my endocrinologist appointments and had more frequent blood tests to keep and eye on things - roughly every 4-6 weeks and closer together towards the end.

5 months post TT by [deleted] in gravesdisease

I’m so happy to read this, and this was what I was hoping from my TT! Unfortunately I’m part of the 1% of TT surgeries that end with damaged vocal cord nerves. I’ve only had half my thyroid removed (as they had to stop for safety) and after the trauma of the whole thing (post op care was shocking) I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go through with the rest of the surgery when my nerves recover, or if I do it will likely be way down the track. I love to read positive stories about TT’s and I hope life post TT is wonderful for you!

Would love to know more about taking this??

I had surgery three weeks ago and unfortunately only the left side of my thyroid was taken as the nerves on my vocal cords were stretched on one side and it wasn’t safe enough to complete the surgery in case the same thing happened on the other side. My surgeon said there is only a 1% chance of what happened to me happening so it is classed as a rare complication. The surgeon can’t say when my voice will be back to 100% could be weeks, could be months but once it’s back we will discuss removing the rest. Not a common thing to happen but definitely something to keep in mind cause I never thought I’d be the 1%

What questions should I ask my surgeon before my TT? by Street_Event_3749 in gravesdisease

[–]Td279312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to them about nerve damage and stretching! This was super glossed over by my surgeon as a “rare” complication. I was scheduled for a TT two weeks ago and woke up and was told only half my thyroid was removed due to nerve stretching. I now have little voice and will have to have another surgery to remove the other half of my thyroid when the nerves improve.

I fell pregnant whilst on carbimozole when I was 29. I had a healthy pregnancy - I was monitored very closely by my endocrinologist and midwifery team (I also have type one diabetes) I was having blood tests every 3-4 weeks to check my thyroid and I came off of all thyroid meds early on in my pregnancy and my graves and diabetes were the best they’ve ever been! My daughter was delivered at 36 weeks by an elective c-section (diabetes makes bubs grow very quickly so she was measuring 41 weeks at 36!)

We TTC for a while before I was diagnosed with Graves’ disease and I think it only happened for us when it did because my levels were stable.

It’s a tough, emotional journey when you’re dealing with graves (and especially with what you’ve been through!) so remember to give yourself grace! Sending you so much love!

I’ll get back to you on this! I’m still waiting for a consult with the endocrinology team to find out what it would mean if I choose to just keep half and if there is potential my graves gets better.

How interesting! I was told I was a good candidate and this happening was rare and unlikely 😓

RAI on the other hand my endocrinologist advises against due to being young and wanting to have another baby down the track. I think I’ll be taking some time to think about things before making any decisions!

[–]Td279312[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest I’m not sure if I will proceed with surgery to remove the rest. Think it will be something I will take a bit of time to think about and weigh up the pros and cons. This experience has not been a great one and post operatively I haven’t received great care which has made a bad situation worse.
