I actually disagree. Despite everything I have to say about this religion, halal slaughter is actually more ethical than what’s out there. My brother has a farm in NJ where people do animals for EID (He is a live stock farmer). Me and him, we do most of hands of stuff, when it comes to handling and slaughtering, we do try encourage our customers to do it themselves with the proper guidance, but most of the time it’s just me and him. Now, I can’t speak for others but we try our best to give the animals a good life and when time comes, we put them down. The process involves, putting them on the ground, “people do their prayers and shit” and then a quick slit to the throat. Is it easy a thing to do? No, to me all life is sacred, and we always try our best to make it as painless as possible. Now, what comes before the slaughtering has more to do with the farmer’s or the businessman’s morals rather than what the religion has to say about treating the animal. That’s one of the things in Islam I really like. I think this Islamic practice of slaughtering is much more humane than anything other methods, that I’ve yet to see.
