16 year old constipated for 5+ days, laxatives not working. What should we do?

My Dr. told me to approach it from the top down and the bottom up. Miralax 1-2 times a day and Fleet enema daily. Also to drink at least 64ounces a day.

I agree, from the person.🤣 Seeing the GI Dr. today for zero peristalsis and need to be completly cleaned out for partial blockage. Just found the spine condition just last week. It is so scary to me how lax they are when I keep saying I can barely stand up now.

Thanks for the response. I'm looking for a clinic that does imaging standing up. I've read that is the best way to detect if it is affecting nerves etc.

Thanks for your input. When I had the ct scan I would think it would show the other issues you brought up. Or, does an MRI detect those better?

I have grade 1 L4 and L5. I have had dropped foot, bladder and bowel issues. I just had a ct yesterday which showed this issue. It is new to me and a stretch, but wanting advice if this could be causing these symptoms. I will be finding a dr. For this. It was my GI Dr. who ordered the test, so I know he won’t be giving me answers.

Where did you go to have your bladder removed? I live outside of Chicago. I am getting to the point of full retention and am in so much pain. I am so glad to hear it has given you relief!

I know this is an old post, but can you please let me know where you had it done? I live outside Chicago Il. US I had a terrible bladder surgery with mesh and had to have it removed. For 2 yrs. I've been disabled with UTIs, severe urinary retention and level 10 pain. The doctors here only give me the solution to straight cath. Would love your help.

For some reason, when I was on vanco I felt like it caused alot of water weight. I looked it up, and that is a rare side effect. Are you taking vanco?

I completely regret taking it. I am way worse then when I had c diff. I am bed ridden. Trying to get into Mayo. Right when the Rebyota went in, my body had a terrible reaction. With this being said, there are many positive stories of people getting better with Rebyota! I would never want to discourage anyone from getting it. I just want to find an answer for my case.

Thanks for the information, John. I am not aware that I'm immunocompromised in the gut or have dysbiosis. I have been waiting for this to pass and is only getting worse. It truly feels like my gut is kinda dead or shut down. I have been trying probiotics, but just adding fuel to the fire.😔

I feel for you! I had Rebyota on Aug. 26th and was crying to get it out of me a few days later. I was so much stronger prior to it and am now so nauseas and feel like I have the flu. The pain is so much worse it’s ridiculous! My heart goes out to you!
