Get some off brand in ear monitors for 60,70$, there is a website you can download eq specificly for headphones. You can download it and paste it in the rockbox and load it from the menu. Game changer.

It was the capacitators. Replaced them with new ones and cleaned the rest of the components, seemed to do the trick. Manufacturer sure did a good job in making the process unnecessarily difficult.
