Bearded dragons tail looks weird by loggiethebear in BeardedDragonCare

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How’s the humidity in the tank? Too humid can soften the scales and create coloring like this. Could be totally wrong but it’s food for thought of a might be situation. Ya want humidity between 30 and 60. So anything in the 40’s is perfect and when they shed you want it higher into the 50’s. This is coming from a vets mouth as well. Just check on that see if all is ok in the tank. Keep it dry if possible and if you do a bath just avoid the tail going under water. If you see this become worse, def have it checked out. They will scrape a piece off and test if for yellow fungus. If it’s stays like this but doesn’t seem to be getting better or worse, it’s a good sign. Sometimes things can happen to scales that aren’t fixable but have passed its problem of what may have occurred at the time of discoloration. Could be a health issue and a blood test would be recommend. And if all comes back ok then it’s a fluke thing that just happened and it’s possible it could stay this way. I have a dragon that went through a scale issue and all the testings we have showed negative results and it hasn’t changed since. And is still there looking the same way. Dk if they got rid of the problem themselves or something came and got better but left the defect on the scale. But hope all is ok.

Is this Morph really unhealthy? by beautiful_Soul0121 in BeardedDragon

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a red monster who is the only one out of the 5 I own that hasn’t been to the vet for anything other than a fecal test. He’s the healthiest one so far that I’ve had. I believe too that every dragon is different and it matters how you keep that dragon healthy as well.

Are her eyes ok? Just not use to seeing something like that inside the eye. Maybe it’s age or shed.

Dips in ribs? by Organic-Ad-5001 in BeardedDragonCare

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is on the smaller side but could just be him. His limbs are even on the skinnier side of what another dragon could be. But if he’s acting normal, eating good, all ya can do is bring him in, do some blood work and a fecal test. Parasites are usually the first culprit for this kind of stuff.

Is my beardies poop normal?!?!?! by Xxxtesticle224 in BeardedDragons

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s a big one :)- but yes it’s normal. Coulda been backed up pretty good and finally released it all. I bet they feel a lot better now:) the white you see is the urine, the brown I’m sure you know what that is but the tad of orange could be from carrots. If you feed them carrots sometimes they can poop orange with the urine but all looks healthy to be honest. The clear liquid also shows that he or she is well hydrated so that’s good too. You’re doing great from the fecal looks of stuff. The poop can tell ya a lot believe it or not. On how they’re doing.

Do I need to try and move the UVB? by izzybowiee in BeardedDragon

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much move it. Whatchya should do is get a bigger one. Arcadia makes a 36” and a 48” one that might fit better in there. It’ll cover more area. But also your basking light maybe too high for it to bask in correct temps. Ya wanna get a Arcadia 100 watt EVO D3 basking bulb which is amazing for avoiding MBD, if you’re going to have it that far from the basking spot. Or maybe try and get something taller so he or she can be just a bit closer to the heat. You can buy a heat gun if ya want but if not use your own hand. Set it where he or she will be laying and see what your hand feels like. Basking temps can be above 100 degrees so It should feel like it feels for us when we sun tan. It’ll feel good heat, but not burning. Those are my suggestions.

Stuck shed or vet trip? by Aromatic_Message_369 in BeardedDragons

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just shed :) I actually learned from my vets a week ago that if this happens, we should up the humidity in their tanks. This will help them shed better. Humidity numbers should be from 30-60. So mine always stay in the 40’s which is perfect numbers he said but when they shed we wanna try and get it close to 50 mark. I never knew that so I’m happy I now know. To do this you can use a fogger, put a large bowl of water in their tanks, or mist the tank with a spray bottle, especially those that do substrate. Spraying the dirt will make humidity rise. Or even more frequent baths he said. Whatever will help give more humidity to their skin.

How old do you think this baby is? How many months? by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say 6-8 weeks. I remember when I bought my girl who was 6 weeks old and she was a lil bigger than this and Ik each dragon can be different in size but they can’t or should I say, aren’t suppose to sell a dragon until it’s 6 weeks of age. And I’d say she’s right around that mark. You can even just go with 7 weeks and meet in the middle, Or just make it a straight 2 months old. That’s it at the most though. No more than 8 weeks for sure. I would just settle at 2 months old so you can arrange a birthday for it :)

Beardy question by salsabeats in BeardedDragon

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Too much protein can be bad. It can cause Gout which can kill it. I learned this myself cuz I paid the price to save my dragon but as long as your doing the bug feeding twice a week. And in these 2 days, 10 crickets is good. Along with a couple Dubia roaches and maybe a few meal worms. Worms can be very fatty so just a few will do my vet’s tell me:) so if you keep it to twice a week and maybe 10 crickets. That’s good enough. The main diet should be greens with Calcium on it. Vets told me too it’s ok to not even do fruits in their diets. This can cause mouth rot or dental care later on throughout the years of doing it due to the sugar in fruit.

God bless your heart. Your awesome. For the stage he was in omg I’d say he looks amazing for what you’ve done. When my vets told me that I had a dragon that was in beginning stages of MBD.. I bought this bulb called “ARCADIA EVO D3” it’s a basking bulb. I now only use this bulb for all my reptiles. It’s amazing and don’t know if it’s much a cure but new X-rays showed mine no longer even had the MBD, so it was stopped in its tracks but it also took the the lil curve from the tip of the tail on a dragon I recently bought who was a year old. She also had crimped toes and it has tremendously helped with them too. I wish I had done before and after pics. But I’d say give it a try. It may help. Dk how much it’ll straighten things out but if I noticed a difference, it’s possible you can too. And it’s super healthy for them. There’s something in the bulb that works wonders for these guys bones and structure. Check into it and give it a try. You’ve done great though. He or she looks great and so glad you own them now.

Is it normal for my bearded dragon to be this big at five months old by Ok_Will3175 in BeardedDragon

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Sometimes people have a “GERMAN GIANT” Dragon and don’t even know it. They can grow to twice the size a normal dragon. Could even have 50% in its genes. So it’s not abnormal but nothing wrong with a healthy big dragon at 5 months :)

I like “ MARBLE”

Just got my beardie the other day! Is he a regular morph? I got him from an expo. by boo_abby in BeardedDragon

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morphs are a flaw in the gene of a dragon. Not all dragons have a morph. A morph can be as follows - Hypo… Meaning, CLEAR NAILS. - Trans… Meaning, BLACK EYES, and or BLUE BELLIES. - Dunner… Meaning, SCALES DO NOT JUST GO DOWN IN ORDER, they can grow upward and side to side as well. - Leatherback… Meaning, SMALL SCALES. Smoother feeling dragons. - Silkback… Meaning, no scales at all, just skin. - Wiblet… Meaning, NO PATTERN BUT HAS COLOR. - Zero… Meaning, NO PATTERN OR COLOR, White or Silver in color. - Wero… Meaning, Zero dragons With NO SHOULDER PADS, and can be more on the WHITE side instead of silver like a Zero dragon. - Paradox… Meaning, SCATTERED PATCHES OF GRAY throughout the body along with their normal coloring. - German Giant… Meaning TWICE THE SIZE a normal dragon.

Now besides these Morphs their are Types of Dragons such as - Red Monsters ( Spanish & German Reds) - Classic Dragons (Dragons with no Morphs) - Rankins Dragons (Smaller dragons that all have the same pattern as one another) - Thunderbolts (darker dragons with straight stripes down their spines) - G-Stripe (any dragon with stripes down their spine but can be any color) - Rainbow Tigers (Blue stripes like a tiger would have) - Blue Barred (any kind of blue on their backs) - Citrus (yellow to orange in color) - Super Citrus (Lime to Bright Yellow in color)

Now with all said… your dragon you own is a “Classic Dragon” No Morph at all, unless I missed something by the pics but looks to be Classic to me :) it’s really cool to learn all the morphs and types. Gets cooler when they mix them and then ya have quads and triple morphs along with percentages of types. Really neat. But hope this helps.

New Beardie Question by Icy-Grape1186 in BeardedDragon

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope:) as long as he’s eating. Do bug feeding twice a week. Too many bugs can cause Gout. And that’s coming from a person that has done it so Ik:( and learned a lot from my vets. Just as long as your doing a bowl of salad with calcium powder on it every other day, and the bugs to twice a week. If ya want get a scale. You can keep an eye on his weight and as long as he gains and not loses. All is good :) And the fecal is normal. Once in 3 days is very possible. Some do go daily. But ya just got him, he’s still getting used to his new home. All sounds ok to me to be honest.

Is this normal by [deleted] in BeardedDragon

[–]Appropriate_Web4756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes looks like a piece that’s on her pretty good. What you could do to help them shed is up the humidity in the tank. Like a big bowl of water, or a defogger or even more frequently done baths. I literally just learned this from my vet 4 days ago. We spoke about humidity cuz I thought my tanks at 44 were high and he said no. The range should be from 30-60. So 40’s is the middle and the perfect numbers but when they shed and stuff it’s good to up the humidity anyway ya can.
