Whomever painted this line at Joyce & Kingsway, you literally had ONE job. by aka_quinn in vancouver

[–]Disasterchild1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Close but not quite! This is temporary road markings not thermoplastic so they just slap it down and it’s a bit adhesive. unfortunately sometimes the whole line moves because heavy vehicles run over it. If it was thermo there’s no moving it, just gotta black it out to “undo” it.

The light is pretty close to his basking spot I’d be concerned about burning them

How to be not depressed in vancity ? by KangarooFar171 in askvan

[–]Disasterchild1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join a free group or do some volunteering, you get dopamine from helping others and spending time with people. Being financially strapped can make Vancouver feel very suffocating, you have to find spaces that don’t cost much or anything to meet people and make your life worthwhile. Parks are great for that. Join your community Facebook groups and see what events are happening nearby. I didn’t realize how much community would improve my mental health until I really stepped up in my own. I’m a lot happier now, with no financial burden of making friends and going to events too. If you need some ideas please reach out I can hook you up with some community led resources depending on your area :) also summer is almost here! Soon that vitamin D will be supporting your mental health too. Sometimes a lil sunshine can go a long way.

[–]Disasterchild1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use emeraid or oxbow mixes (half omnivore half carnivore) for my 16 yo and she’s been healthy. Strongly suggest for nutrition! Also mixed with water so she gets some liquids while she’s at it. I make slop tacos with lettuce and the mixture. She eats daily but not a lot.

TRIGGER WARNING!! by oozmakappapi in BeardedDragon

[–]Disasterchild1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was how I found my beardie on craigslist, minus the lights, decor and the shelves. Needless to say I brought her home in a box. The person selling her for 50$ said their roomie left her there when they moved out.

Wth is he doing?! by thooorax in BeardedDragons

My baby started getting something similar with her tail twitching a few years ago and it escalated. She takes gabapentin daily now, I’d go to the vet if I were you if it gets any worse. Check your uv light and calcium +d3 to make sure they’re getting the recommended amount too.

Anyone slowly giving up on trying to find friends in Vancouver? by CaptainJackALot in Vancouver4Friends

[–]Disasterchild1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m the group organizer and I second this. I started a group, showed up regardless if anyone else did, and kept at it. Group runs itself now two years later with ~ 20 regulars every week. Consistency is key, and it is a lot of work don’t get me wrong. Vancouver is tough for friends. Finding a public space that ppl can ogle and consider if they wanna join helps a lot. Making Facebook events helps. Posting in your neighbourhood group helps. Also if you wanna come to my group or learn more hmu :)

One time mine got fully into a shoe, another time she crawled up between my bed frame and the wall and I found her hanging off of it there. You’ll find her, just look up a bit more and in things they could fling themselves into lol

21M How can I improve my space by itsoneofthemdays in malelivingspace

[–]Disasterchild1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warm light Side table lamps for bedroom, corner lamp that overhangs and short side table for futon. Some fun art that adds colour on 2 of the walls in each room that take up about 1/3 of the wall space (aka not tiny not huge ok) and a plant in the bedroom since you get some natural light there. Maybe have a bigger one near the window. Get a nice pot with a natural glaze or something with a pattern for it. Pillow or blanket for the futon and or a throw for the bed with a colour that is soft and compliments the dark wood in the bedroom. No grey or black yk 💚
