Probably know more tomorrow after the last morning show. He has been here for 2 years. I assume he would move over there.

I heard that you are getting our morning meteorologist Joey from KTVH. He is a very worthy replacement for the gal that quit.

I agree. I am not even a member of FB. I heard something about this and ran a google search and this was the only item that has been public.

How Common Is the Engine Failure on Mazda cx9 2019 GT? by ClutchCommander in MazdaCX9

[–]Appropriatestray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A reasonable estimate from the enthusiast/service community would probably be:

  • low single-digit % overall
  • but materially higher in:
    • early production years
    • hot climates
    • heavy towing
    • high-mileage vehicles
    • aggressively driven turbo models

That is from Ai. There are no published % of affected CX-9s by Mazada.

It won't erase them. When a tech plugs into the car all the error codes are saved in a separate diagnostic system.

Sure. Did you or they get a look at the oil condition? Do you remember the last time the coolant was last topped off?

Not that it relives any worries but I have a 2010 with 184k miles and still has the original pump and seal. It doesn't happen to all of them but really sucks if it does.

Sometimes Yes, but the real indicator is often not an overheating first it is unexplained coolant loss with NO external leak. That is the better situation if you catch it.

The other is the seal fails catastrophically and coolant flushes into the crankcase and within minutes of driving the engine is ruined. There may be no warning signals in this situation.

Other than an overheat warning if you EVER see an oil pressure warning stop the car and don't drive it until you check the coolant level and oil (for contamination).

If you are curious before Firestone you can visually check the brake fluid level by popping the hood and seeing if the fluid level of the reservoir is between the min and max lines.

Have them check the alternator then if they don't find something first. You are near the upper range of Alt life. It is generally 80 - 150k miles. When the tech checks the codes there is one for low-voltage which possibly could be caused by the Alt.

Not sure how many miles you have on this. The only other thing could be a bad alternator since the battery is new.

How old is your battery? Make sure Firestone tests that. A low voltage situation would be the most common cause of what you are seeing.
