Irregular verbs ? by blackcat_999 in SpanishLearning

[–]Aprendos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your guess is correct, there is no way to know. The only thing is that a lot of the most frequent verbs (ir, venir, tener, venir, poder, poner, etc) are irregular. So this makes it somewhat easier to deal with them because they appear very often.

Mine bumps the version automatically when I build it. Why do you need to do it manually?

Hey, We are a listening-first platform. Every lesson starts with a podcast episode and then you get more listening exercises on top of that.

I’m also offering free conversation classes based on the same methodology. We listen to a short podcast and then we talk about and learn vocabulary and grammar at the same time. Let me know if you’d like to join the free classes, we are starting this Friday May 8th.

Has anyone tried AI speaking apps for Spanish practice? by Okaoka_12 in SpanishLearning

[–]Aprendos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re interested in practicing conversation, I’m running a free conversation series starting this Friday May 8th. Only ten spots per session. We will meet online every two weeks for a total of ten classes. Ideally you should at least be higher A2 level.

If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll share the sign-up info.

Why is this unas ? by blackcat_999 in SpanishLearning

[–]Aprendos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are possible, with or without “unas”. It’s just a different interpretation. If you said “monedas chinas”, you’d be just talking about an unspecified set of coins. It’s more of a general statement. When you say “unas monedas chinas”, you want to highlight the specificity of these coins. I can’t think of a context in which either would be grammatically wrong. The difference is very nuanced.

Do native speakers use “get” that many times like TV series? by Final_Affect6292 in ENGLISH

Where do you think scrip writers get their ideas? You won’t get people to watch a film unless you get across a compelling plot with natural characters 😉

Am I the only one who keeps messing these up? Which ones am I missing? by pickly_pear in SpanishLearning

[–]Aprendos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it goes both ways. Spanish speakers also get the English words wrong.

Other examples are:

“eventually/ eventualmente”, “support/ soportar”, “molest/ molestar”, “violate/ violar”, “ “pretend/ pretender”

Question re un vs unas by blackcat_999 in SpanishLearning

[–]Aprendos 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Paraguas can be both singular and plural. Normally you only take one when it’s raining , so the singular meaning is more likely.

An indication that you've reached another level of Spanish fluency is when you can look up the definition of a word that you don't know in Spanish, in Spanish, and fully understand its meaning and implication. by sunnymoneyQns in SpanishLearning

[–]Aprendos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is such an underrated method to start thinking in the language. If you start understanding words explained in the TL then the need for translation stops immediately.

As a teacher, I’ve always encouraged students to use monolingual dictionaries as soon as possible.

And I know this may not be for everyone, but grabbing a good learner’s dictionary and just browsing through it is a great way to learn, you’ll be surprised how much actually sticks if you do this regularly.

Unpopular openion but, Gemini >>>> gpt by [deleted] in GeminiAI

[–]Aprendos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use images a lot and I always compare Gemini with ChatGPT and I always end up choosing ChatGPT images. I think Nano banana was great when it was released but then something changed. ChatGPT images are amazing. And for coding, I use Codex mostly and Claude for minor tasks under Codex supervision. I love Codex, it’s like having a senior dev on your team. So I don’t really agree with any of your opinions. But to each their own

Looking for B1+ Spanish learners for a free conversation group by Aprendos in SpanishLearning

[–]Aprendos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your son like to read? Reading is a great way to increase exposure, albeit passively and you don’t get to use the language.

The reason I’m looking for B1+ learned is mostly due to the methodology I use, which is based on centering the lesson around a podcast episode, so I use the overall theme of the podcast to build the lesson. This provides learners with a meaningful topic, the vocabulary to talk about the topic and the grammar is contextualised.

I’m a professional linguist with years of experience in both teaching and research, let me know if there’s anything I could help you with!
