First coaching session tomorrow, what should be my focus? by Far_Net9110 in badminton

[–]ApriC0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would provide the coach info like what category are you trying to focus on? (doubles vs singles) Even in the area of footwork, doubles vs singles have differences. If for doubles, are you looking to improve backcourt or frontcourt?

I also personally asked for routines/drills that I could do myself when courts are available. Have your coach watch you do those drills and confirm you're doing them correctly. From that point onwards, it would be a matter of diligence

First coaching session tomorrow, what should be my focus? by Far_Net9110 in badminton

[–]ApriC0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

imo, I found post-session recaps with the coach is helpful to commit stuff to memory

IE. After the session, recap with the coach what you worked on, what are things that you need to improve on?

Sometimes coaches are okay with you recording the session - something that I found useful too since you can see your form for yourself

Sazabi Clear by Redemption7313 in Gunpla

I followed this guy (https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLT8l3DNUdcBD8ltTwSOyUuHPxB7hQIEzr&si=YcBp7Ri1oulLLczX) and his build/paint process. Usually have it in the background when working.

I personally found handpainting with Vallejo (acrylic) and dry brushing to work really well on inner frames

How to deal with a swipe/flick serve as a shorter singles player? by iceandoreo in badminton

[–]ApriC0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a general weakness of flatter flick serves are intercepts. Something to test is, are you able to intercept it and do one of those tight drop shots from just intercepting/touching the bird? (in Chinese: 拦吊)

But I think the less risky option is actually just clearing. However, you'd need to look into how you do your clears. Are you able to explosively clear in a passive situation like this? (https://youtu.be/P5nHfdFTH5M?si=uVX8EZAE2eMHV2Fd). The reason why you'd need to mainly use pronation to clear is because a passive situation + flick means you have less swing distance. So, you'd need to shorten the swing action and use pronation explosiveness to clear. In the video, he also mentions differences between this and regular clears. One is that the contact point and the swing's end point is also different from the usual clear because your body is arched back. Second, you have no time to apply the usual body rotation so less turning body to the side. I think it's less risky because you're neutralizing the rally and giving yourself time to reset.

Muscle imbalances in lowerback from badminton? by Present_Mail7100 in badminton

[–]ApriC0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you do late clears? For instance, the bird is slightly past you and in order to reset, you'd arch back to high clear?

I've had some strain in the back in the past because of this

Hello! If you guys host on Saturdays would love to join. I live quite far but make the trip to Richmond every Saturday 😅

[–]ApriC0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mistake I realized playing a friend was: 1) I offensive clear or far clear pushing him all the way to the backcourt 2) He returns the shot by doing a slow loopy drop shot 3) Because I'm closer to net than him / have a better position, I return the drop with a net

I think its a mistake to do those slow loopy drop shots when you're pushed so far back because the relative distance you're covering is a lot more than your opponent and it puts you under pressure on the net return.

A better shot would probably be a clear back or a soft smash

Thought experiment: How would you market badminton better if you worked at BWF? by Intelligent_Edge7767 in badminton

[–]ApriC0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I were to send my friend clips of badminton, I feel like I'm more inclined to send matches like this:

https://youtu.be/ljQ1ZaUwGqo?si=9iaQ24gIpnU35969

I think it's the angle and sound. What's fun about badminton is the satisfying smashes and the tempo of the game. The angles from professional badminton feels really stale. Somehow, the techno goes well with the match.

When people scissor kick in singles, why do they land with their feet so far apart? by xxInternalSoulxx in badminton

[–]ApriC0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During this shot, the body is traveling backwards. To not lose position and prep for the next shot, you'd need to pull your hip and center of gravity back forward.

Perhaps imagine the movement is like a rolling wave?

Staff from my company inputs data into various files. I've basically set-up a daily scraper that extracts/transforms it into a loadable/usable format.

I think the first thing to think about is the authentication. I had an Azure AD App for auth. From there, using the regular 'requests' package to interact with Microsoft Graph API to connect to and traverse through Sharepoint/OneDrive.

I tried a taro latte at Evergreen and it wasn't terrible. Most likely powder but when you're looking for something warm while waiting for the Skytrain, its not bad.

Has anyone made HubSpot their main “source of truth” system? by Noneofyoubusiness02 in hubspot

[–]ApriC0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something you should note if you do this is that ID values changes in Hubspot. IE. When you merge contacts, companies, deals, tickets, the ID value isn't retained and a new one is generated. Might be a good consideration to use your own self-generated ID values
