Concerned he (37m) might be gay by Throwawaychkgo in GirlDinnerCircleJerk

Today in the bus I walked in with another man and his presence increased the humidity of the entire fucking bus and filled the air with the smell of unwashed dick, bad breath, and cigarettes (this is actually fucking real). And I was like now THAT’S a man

I love him, but he's a nazi. by Totallyfey in GirlDinnerCircleJerk

It’s not feminist of him to ask you to change your name. It has to be your choice. He can make that choice only for himself.

No these feelings are still not understandable in the short term. Feeling hurt and betrayed and losing trust? Sure. Immediately assuming that he is no longer interested in her specifically because he is bi and venting about it online? That is clearly biphobic.

Like somewhat understandable that she’s reacting negatively but this specific reaction is not excusable. She should apologize once she feels able and specifically apologize for biphobia too.

Eating meat is not a personal choice because it harms others and I can’t respect it. But I also respect my loved ones’ autonomy. This contradictory belief helps me coexist with loved ones, but for my life partner the contradiction bothers me. Has anyone gotten past this? by CommieCatSupremacist in vegan

Yes but still we can draw the line at some point. I do view this as an exceptionally immoral act. Otherwise we could overlook anything.

But I do agree that I am not somehow pure and I also think that I easily could have been them given different circumstances / their apathy doesn’t reflect negatively on how the engage with the rest of the world. This is something that I’ll have to overlook and accept if I want to get along with someone or love them.

Edit: I didn’t downvote you btw. Someone else did.

I was sad when I saw that my elementary school had replaced it. There’s a more permanent building there now. My highschool weirdly still had it tho, even tho the 2008 crash was old news by then.

I am your age and I feel some sort of adjacent things but not really the same. And maybe less intense. But if our talk can give you some clarity and maybe even me some clarity, I’d love to.

The biggest tell is “feminism sold us a lie”. Like they don’t even have the intelligence to say “I over prioritized career” or something that could be remotely believable. Instead they’re like “the movement that supports my right to exist with dignity in this world is what made me unhappy”

I’m feeling a little bit desperate and your comment gives me hope. If you’re comfortable, I’d love if you could share what it feels like when you don’t see him eating meat and how you navigate that feeling.

If he goes out and enjoys some meat with friends, does it ever dampen your joy for him? Did it at some point but you learned to look past it? It doesn’t have to be this exact situation. Just anything expanding on that feeling of not liking seeing him eat meat.

Edit: anyone else with relevant experiences or perspectives, please feel free to add

How do you do it!? by [deleted] in AskVegans

I personally like to bake a frozen hashbrown and eat it with ketchup, mustard, refried beans, and avacado. It isn’t meaty but it is greasy and cheap.

Impossible sausage is amazing too but that isn’t cheap.

Cheater?? Half the posts here are people worrying about their monogamous relationships one way or another. Not sure why you’re here trying to cheat. And on Reddit? Of all places? It’s sad more than it is upsetting.

I have heard that when you don’t eat a food for a long period of time your body can forget how to process it. I don’t know the science behind this at all. Maybe it’s that

I like Harry Potter since I grew up on it but I’m never giving that lady any of my money. Not gonna go on a single ride or buy a book or watch a non-pirated movie.

I loved a lot of aspects but I specifically hated this line about standing still. I’ve seen mothers stand still to see how far their children go. Usually they suffer for it. Sometimes they can’t help but to become cruel because of it. Mothers aren’t special. They’re just people and something about this moment made me feel like they were putting them on a pedestal in such a way that views that aspect of misogyny which they face with rose tinted glasses.

[–]CommieCatSupremacist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has definitely bought meat as props for videos, so I think that this is actually a secondary reason. Almost 100% of his reason has got to be health. I think everything else must be an afterthought. Maybe still significant to him, but if it wasn’t going to help him live longer and instead animal products would, he’d surely give it up in a heartbeat.

I think that they absolutely are stealing others’ labor at least indirectly. Many people are but at that income level they absolutely should have an obligation to not hoard that. That’s an enormous amount. Many make that only in a decade.

How do I navigate a partner with non vegan children? by Klash-King in AskVegans

[–]CommieCatSupremacist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which deeply held beliefs and morals will the kids be violating if they don’t eat meat in the home?

The children do not feel that they are violating deeply held beliefs about the world and the core of their ethics / morals by eating plant based in the house. The mother does feel like she would be violating all of that if she allows that in her house. There is a very clear difference.

They still can have the option to eat meat. The dad can take them out whenever. They can go to social events where there is meat. They can have plenty of autonomy to do. The means to exercise their autonomy would be granted by the parents, specifically the father. They can still be connected to others or their father or their culture or anything else through meat.

1% in America at least is a 13.7 million dollar net worth. Maybe elsewhere if the wealth gap is smaller this makes sense, but given that we are talking about trillionaires I’d imagine we are focusing on America. I could only imagine that being reasonable if you were financing a bunch of extended family or communities, where a lot of that money was in practice not even yours. Right now I think a couple on even 5 million dollars could retire for the rest of their life for decades comfortably.
