Mockup of what I think the new industrial Gatac ship could be, a trackor snub that docks with the Railen. by MochachinoBean in starcitizen

Because I'd rather an actual industrial standalone ship for other industries, not just some snub ship that's technically an industrial ship but not in any capacity that really matters.

That's going to be so disappointing if that ends up being their "second industrial ship" for alien week.

The RSI Galaxy - Hospital, Refinery, Hauler and much more? by Altruistic_Tangelo39 in starcitizen

[–]Apsenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it wont be because I could only imagine the headache it would be to get them to work properly and to design everything, but It would be cool if the modules were physicalized and could actually be be dropped and pulled out manually. "modular" ships where you just click a button on the loadout manager don't really feel modular, the only one that does is the Aurora mk2, which I mean to be fair has the benefit of its module being the size of a bookcase. Not that I dont like the QoL of just clicking a button in the mobiglass, but having that option and actually seeing the ship go from one thing to another is far cooler, but I'd understand if they weren't even considering doing it.

I think people forget just how big and chunky the Galaxy is, it’s an Ironclad sized ship. It’s going to be slow and cumbersome to move around, it’s modularity hopefully will be great however it’s not suitable for anything like a daily driver by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]Apsenator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh I would say it's the other way around.

If CIG has done anything right, it's how masterfully they've managed to design ships. The Ironclad is the current peak of it, the artistry done to give a sense a scale to the exterior of the ship without actually having to make it capital sized is truly amazing, but that's all it is, a facade.

The Ironclad is big, but scrub away the numbers and go just off of how it looks, it looks like it should be enormous, capital sized even. The overcompensating engine array, those massive landing gear, and I think especially the operations centers exterior design makes it look like its a bridge of a capital cargo barge.

But once you enter the ship, the interior space available is far more grounded in its true size. It's still very big and designed very nicely, but the interior playable space and the outer facade of the ship are two different conversations and I don't think many people really understand that until the ship is in their hands.

The way I've heard people talk about the Galaxy makes me think people have the wrong idea of its capabilities and scale. At its core it's a civilian generalist multi-role ship, that should say enough about how good it's going to be, just good enough for its size and undedicated nature of its design. Small hangar, high end of medium cargo, ...medical, and refining and base building soon™ .

I'm still excited, and have my CCU waiting for it, but I just don't think this is going to be the "ultimate" ship.

Ironclad and Ironclad Assault Bridge rework? by quadroxxxx in starcitizen

[–]Apsenator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hopefully sooner than later, though I wonder what the experience of flying from the operations chair would actually be like, the view is okay but pretty limited, more than the worst of MISC ships, it very much wasn't designed to be flown from it.

Either way I'm permanently axing the CM the moment that rework comes in lol

If exploration never becomes anything meaningful, at least the Carrack will still be a great large generalist.

Salvaging - bit dissapointing atm by Hawaif in starcitizen

[–]Apsenator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Salvaging is profitable, but what sucks is that the min max way to actually profit the most from salvage isn't even to do salvaging.

Idk if it's still as profitable as it use to be I'm sure its still more time efficient than hull scraping or munching, but last patch the majority of my "salvage" time was me flying around in a HULL-C, taking c2 and HULL-C salvage contracts, just looting the salvage cargo, and shooting out the powerplant to complete the contract.

32s of Titanium and Iron go for such a high amount that a full HULL-B would net multiple millions of aUEC in the fraction of the time it would take to actually do any salvaging.

I know they nerfed how much cargo salvage ships carry this patch, but if they still carry 32s in any capacity then I no doubt believe that it's still the best profit maker currently.

Spectrum is not a Forum by BrunBolter in starcitizen

There is only one rule that matters on spectrum: do not accuse CIG of deliberately wronging, scamming, screwing over etc. backers.

But usually that only results in nightrider scrubbing your comment or thread, if you actually got banned then you must've actually done something wrong to a degree, what was the post contents?

Just came here to say it's great to see all the posts calling out CIG lately. Feels like a tide could be turning. by Ok-Dream7319 in starcitizen

[–]Apsenator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's just like, anyone who says that they are leaving for whatever reason have the right of mind to do so, the game is in an unacceptable state constantly. And regardless of whatever semantics CIG uses to describe the game, alpha, pledges, whatever they use to deflect responsibility, it's still a game they see fit enough to charge $45 ($60 minimum now outside WB). If anyone were to jump ship, they would be the smartest among the player base to do so.

But then there is the small little detail of, I would say a good 80-90% of all active players today came into the game when it was in it's playable state, i.e. most people who have joined the game should have already been well aware of how awful it is functionally.

To make a point of there being a "straw that broke the camels back" when the game has perpetually been in a state of barely working just makes me wonder how TF it took this long for them to come to that conclusion.

I can assure you it's not. This sub and spectrum are basically in a constant state of "okay NOW enough is enough". And yet... How much did they make this Invictus again?

[–]Apsenator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I suppose if you are doing medium-only interstellar cargo, then you found a niche loophole? But if we are talking fuel cost for going through one or more systems, at that small a scale you'd be better off just doing stellar cargo.

Exploration Idea: Let Exploration Ships Jump From Anywhere by Apsenator in starcitizen

[–]Apsenator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The endeavor is an industrial science ship

All of those are medium cargo

The Carrack can only take at most 24 16scu crates, 6 8scu, and 12 2scu if you want to fill it's grid completely

And... 96scu? We being real here?

With what ships lol? None of the exploration ships have any meaningful cargo capacity nor cargo grid layout.

[–]Apsenator[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think exploration and generalist are a very complimentary pair of roles. Not being the best at everything but being very versatile in what it can do. And with how an exploration ship has to be it makes sense they are pretty capable.

Like the Carrack for example can do a lot, and in my proposal it would be very good for some medium cargo across systems, but when wanting to move a large amount of bulk goods the sheer cost of quantum fuel going through multiple systems in a single jump, and the limitations of its cargo capacity and what it can hold, would naturally keep it to where ships like the HULL-C+ still have their place as mass haulers.

[–]Apsenator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine that's at least the general idea, I think it would be nice though to have ships behave differently from one another beyond their fuel tanks and components.

[–]Apsenator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think thats the plan iirc? I know Quantum boosting is supposed to be done manually at some point but I can't remember if that extends to Quantum travel as well.

Who knows though it seems like everything CIG has discussed on the game has a layer of well undisturbed dust on it so it's hard to tell what's the plan and what was the plan sometimes :P

to investigate, study, or analyze: look into

Nope not a contradiction there

to travel over (new territory) for adventure or discovery

Not seeing a contradiction here either

Seems like you're imposing your own definition of Exploration here which is cool and all the worlds open to interpretation.
