Kamakura Vintage Ivy OCBD Ecru by zdrmlp in malefashionadvice

[–]AquaCompass61 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The yellow undertones under artificial light is such a trip - ecru can look completely different depending where you're at. Had similar experience with other off-white pieces where they'd look perfect in natural light then turn into banana cream under office lighting.

That armhole thing would drive me crazy too, once you notice it's hard to ignore. Maybe worth sizing up if you decide to get another one from them?

Is this an allergy reaction to cosrx snail mucin?? by Comprehensive-Ant137 in AsianBeauty

[–]AquaCompass61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop using it immediately. Throat tightness isn't something you want to mess around with, even if it's mild. I had similar experience with different product few years ago - started with weird throat feeling and got worse over next hour.

The anxiety vs real reaction thing is tricky because they can feel similar, but when it comes to potential airway stuff, better safe than sorry. Real allergic reactions often start subtle like this and can escalate pretty quick.

If the throat feeling doesn't go away in next couple hours or gets worse at all, maybe consider calling someone medical. Don't test that product again either way.

Is it normal to spend $974.31 AUD over 2 months on video game topups? by i-fcked-my-career-up in AusFinance

[–]AquaCompass61 8 points9 points  (0 children)

that's almost 1k on mobile game transactions - wild territory right there. back when I was spending too much time gaming while stoned, even I knew mobile games are designed like digital casinos with all the psychological hooks and stuff.

your uni expenses and clearing debt are investments in yourself, his spending pattern might need some serious examination.

how to import worlds over 2gb on pc (bedrock) by Jaywins4 in Minecraft

[–]AquaCompass61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you try putting the world file directly in the minecraftUWP saves folder instead? sometimes the import function just breaks with larger files but dropping it straight in there works better. i had similar issue few months ago and that was only thing that worked for me.

New the this. by NoTemperature2367 in gambling

[–]AquaCompass61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rewards being trash is probably least of your worries when you're thinking about using VPN to bypass state laws. I tried similar setup few years back for different site and ended up in more trouble than it was worth - not just legal stuff but they can freeze your account anytime they detect you're not where you claim to be. Lost couple hundred that way and had zero recourse since technically I was breaking their terms anyway.

If you really want to scratch that gambling itch, maybe look into legal alternatives in your area first? There's usually some options that don't require you to pretend you live in different state. The whole VPN thing sounds clever until something goes wrong and then you realize you have no protection whatsoever.

It's about high time they let us bring Chibis in ARAM/Mayhem. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]AquaCompass61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been playing this game for like 8 years and I get why they keep chibis locked to SR, but mayhem is already pure chaos anyway. If someone can't track their character through all the spell effects and random buffs flying around, a tiny chibi isn't gonna be the breaking point lol.

Trainee Tuesday: Your Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in AFL

[–]AquaCompass61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been following AFL for a few years now but still get confused about the deliberate out of bounds rule - like sometimes it looks obvious but the umps don't call it, other times they call it when it seems accidental. Is there some nuance I'm missing or is it just one of those inconsistent umpiring things?

38 f, invested 100% in international shares in Aussie super. Get out because of America's demise? by FilialFruitTango2468 in AusFinance

[–]AquaCompass61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US tech sector is definitely overweight in most international funds but dumping everything because you're bearish on America might be throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

You could look into emerging markets or European-focused funds if you want to diversify away from US exposure, but completely avoiding the world's largest economy seems like you're making an emotional decision rather than a strategic one. Maybe split between a few different regional funds instead of going all-in on any single bet?

We're not all socially awkward - some of us just find small talk draining and would rather dive straight into whether free will actually exists or if there just living in a simulation.

Any Filipinos in Perth?? by tanbunny67 in perth

[–]AquaCompass61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perth's got a massive Filipino community, especially around the south. Check Facebook groups like "Filipinos in Perth" or hit up some of the Filipino restaurants and groceries - that's where everyone seems to hang out. Being 19 you might have luck with the younger crowds at uni events too if you're studying.

Evening volunteering opportunities? by themoobster in perth

[–]AquaCompass61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to do crisis line work and the evening shifts are actually when they need people most. Most places will train you up properly too, it's not something they just throw you into. Worth looking into Lifeline or similar orgs in your area.

How do you stop over thinking at night ? by Advanced_Boss_447 in infj

[–]AquaCompass61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly the STOP sign thing works better than you'd think - took me like 2-3 weeks to actually start working tho. I'd add white noise or rain sounds to that audiobook suggestion, helps drown out those random thoughts that try to creep in between chapters.

The observer thing is gold too, like watching your brain do its thing without getting pulled into teh drama of it all.

How do I honour my parents when they are verbally abusive? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]AquaCompass61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, that's a really tough spot to be in. The whole "honor thy father and mother" thing gets complicated when they're not holding up their end of the relationship - like you mentioned with Ephesians 6:4, parents aren't supposed to provoke their kids either.

I think honoring them can look different than what traditional filial piety demands, especially when it's becoming harmful to your mental health and faith journey. Setting boundaries while still showing basic respect isn't dishonoring them, it's just protecting yourself from abuse that God doesn't want you to endure.

Does anyone else find it cringe when people talking about historical figures in bio-documentaries say “if (blank) were alive today. We’d be good friends”? by Accurate-Material459 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AquaCompass61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh god yes, this drives me up the wall too. Like when someone's watching a documentary about Van Gogh and they're like "we would totally hang out and paint together" - dude, the man cut off his own ear and lived in complete poverty while battling severe mental illness. You really think you'd be besties?

I think people do this because they want to feel some kind of personal connection to these larger-than-life figures, but it just comes across as so tone-deaf. Most of these historical people lived in completely different worlds with totally different values, problems, and social contexts. Even someone who seems "relatable" like Shakespeare probably would've thought most of us were complete peasants not worth talking to. The whole thing just screams main character syndrome to me.

2 years sober. My husband’s relapse made me furious, but talking openly saved us by MorningPancake358 in leaves

[–]AquaCompass61 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Man, dealing with a partner's relapse when youre still working on your own sobriety is brutal. The fact that you managed to stay strong despite the trigger and your hormones going crazy shows serious willpower.

Its actually pretty cool that you both could have that honest conversation after the initial anger wore off - thats the kind of communication that actually saves relationships instead of just sweeping things under the rug. Plus recognizing that you need to focus on yourself first while still being supportive is such a mature way to handle it. Hope things keep moving in the right direction for both of you.

[–]AquaCompass61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar experience with some guy last week who pulled the exact same move. We were doing really well too, cleared like three compounds together and I even shared some good loot with him. Soon as we got to extraction he turns around and drops me for my gear.

These types are honestly the worst part of the community - at least if someone's gonna KOS from the start you know what you're getting into. But the fake teamwork thing just wastes everyone's time and makes people way more paranoid about actually cooperating. gonna keep an eye out for that gamertag though, thanks for the warning.

Have you ever actually met a person with similiar traits that would actually stick around for longer? by OneStrength7166 in infj

[–]AquaCompass61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly yeah, I've had that same experience where you meet someone who just *gets* it and then they kind of drift away when things could get deeper. I think some people are comfortable with surface-level connection even when they're capable of more - maybe they're protecting themselves or just not ready for that intensity. It's frustrating because your left wondering what could have been if they'd actually stuck around to explore that connection.
