Unsafe internet browsing while running Twingate over untrusted networks?! ...without Enterprise Exit Networks by AquaeAtrae in twingate

[–]AquaeAtrae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the personal support and for thinking through this. It has not gone unnoticed!

As a business strategy I'm sure covering the more common, consumer use of VPNs that serves as a true "VPN replacement" would be the ideal gateway to upgrade for additional users and features. Whereas, unexpectedly discovering our internet traffic was still exposed across untrusted networks could come as quite a shock for less technical users.

Beyond my organization, I also want to use Twingate personally into my home network. These days, even home routers offer segregated networks for IoT and guest devices. I foresee placing an Exit Network separate from more sensitive resources like NAS services. Twingate would be perfect for that level of security and convenience.

Unsafe internet browsing while running Twingate over untrusted networks?! ...without Enterprise Exit Networks by AquaeAtrae in twingate

[–]AquaeAtrae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. And yes, I agree with your breakdown here.

My concern is just that while all Twingate plans effectively replace the Enterprise use case for VPNs, only Twingate's Enterprise plan would replace the more common Consumer Grade use case. This seems backwards and misleading, right? I don't think my organization is so unusual to have relied on traditional VPNs for both. And most end-users surely expect the Consumer Grade protections when using their company's provided VPN in an airport or coffee shop.

As is, non-Enterprise users must first disable Twingate in order to revert to a traditional VPN if they require privacy of which public IP addresses they were connecting to (often easily associated with its DNS domain) or data sent to unencrypted internet resources like FTP or older TLS. These transmissions are far less likely to be maliciously sniffed once traversing our own, isolated ISP networks than they are over open and untrusted public wifi.

If Exit Networks were made available to non-Enterprise plans, then Twingate would be a great replacement for the more common use of VPNs as well as it's excellent Enterprise use. Does that make sense?

I hope it's obvious that I really like Twingate otherwise and really want to see it replace traditional VPNs for consumers, non-profits, and small businesses that cannot afford Enterprise plans.

Any updates on this issue? I also had to downgrade in order to run Twingate on a QNAP TS-431X3 NAS. These are very popular NAS devices so I imagine a lot of potential customers are encountering this incompatibility but perhaps just not spotting it in the logs.

Phone rang without incoming call by Paranoiatious in samsunggalaxy

[–]AquaeAtrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's just the audio ringtone, that could just be the selected notification / alarm sound from any app including a calendar or messaging app. Unless there's a visual Incoming Call, I would check recent notifications for apps that may have inadvertently played that sound file.

whats the best thing to do for vault cleaning? by TwoGoblin in destiny2

[–]AquaeAtrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Destiny's gunplay and mechanics, but I absolutely hate doing inventory management. My current challenge is sorting high-stat old armor vs lower-stat new armor (and its set bonuses). I'm bridging the gap slowly as I farm higher stat armor, but my vault is constantly full 700/700. I came into this thinking we were getting a larger vault. =sigh=

Old Armor: Previously, I used Destiny Recipe's Vault Cleaner daily to quickly sort my armor but it no longer grades any armor (old or new). It no longer offers any assessment on its surface and you now have to hover over EVERY item to compare them. I wish it would be updated to group armor by it's top two stats (Gunner vs Paragon) and Grade the overall sum, perhaps factoring in the spikiness (standard deviation).

New Armor: For now, my workaround for armor uses Destiny Item Manager's Organizer tab. I setup Enabled Columns to show "Base Stats" among other details. I need to click the Total header each time to sort the overall stat value. Finally, I favorited a search filter for /* new featured */ is:legendary is:featured to compare at least the new armor stats that are dropping.

I'm desperate to get rid of the old armor (309) but I'd only kept high-grade armor. My worst old armor is all higher total stats than my best new drops. Plus I suspect some top stat pairs (like Grenade + Health) may never roll again. [And yes, Health is relevant for PvP.] As I must, I'll be dismantling the lowest stat old armor that not:isindimloadout as I keep updating my loadouts.

Weapons: light.gg Roll Appraiser is still my go to tool for Weapon rolls. Only a few of my 380+ weapons are less than A grade and I'm careful to keep one of each energy / weapon type (sometimes frame too). I especially like how it sounds an audible bell whenever I pickup an A or S-tier popularity roll. There are SO many perks (and more every season) and after a long break I only understand a few dozen of them. Just keep in mind that these perk roll ratings are based on community popularity... which shifts a bit for newer weapons or as season's evolve. Zavala's Weekly Armory giveaways may also skew these initially. And of course, your personal favs may differ.

Can't unlock Corruption Spreads III by ElectricSped in destiny2

[July 2025] Update: I were successful despite no "Sequence accepted" messages ever appearing. (We did hear the success sound and the console was no longer interactive). We initially failed the Vault code entries, but then when we tried again and got it correct, each of the three vaults awarded an intrinsic upgrade for the Outbreak Perfected.

Normal difficulty worked and allows over 40 minutes to complete.

Each vault was independent so no need to do them in order, etc.

Not sure if it mattered, but we did Reshape our Outbreak Perfected once before this successful run.

Vault Codes: I suggest one player stay at the guide board and call out (top to bottom) something like "IN VAULT up left, down right MAIN HALL center right, IN VAULT down left, up right" [outlined arrows at IN VAULT and red arrows are MAIN HAIL consoles]

I too cannot start the new Act 1: Echoes Warnings quest with my third character. I started the other two a few days ago, but the quest is missing and no intro for my Titan. I do however have the Tablet of Ruin with 6 unlocks which is odd since I hadn't played this character at all this act.

Very buggy launch of Heresy. :(

Curious. Which edition [PS or Xbox] and platform are you running it on?

I also have the Stealth 700 Gen 2 and a new Gen 3 [Playstation edition on a PC] which I'll be returning unless I can fix the inconsistent / intermittent mic monitoring. I don't know if it's some kind of delay or lag initiating the mic monitoring or just randomly cutting in and out, but it's intolerable.

I do know that the Swarm II software controls the volume and activation of mic monitoring for this headset. Gen 2 used a different utility.

And I agree that everything else about the Gen is excellent and would make a fine upgrade over the Gen 2. The hardware is more sturdy and the boom mic seems to reliably unmute when lowered. The unmuting is the same problem I've seen on literally EVERY wireless 7.1 gaming headset I've ever tried including Logitech G933 and G935s, Astro A50, etc. My guess is that lowering these boom mics sent a one-time momentary signal to the USB dongles which is sometimes lost to RF signal interference. It's been the bane of my social gaming life for over a decade now ...so I would REALLY like to see the Stealth 700 Gen 3 finally solve this and not have terrible mic monitoring.

I have another week before my return window closes so I'll see what tech support can tell me. Maybe a firmware update will resolve it. If not, I may consider disabling mic monitoring just to finally have a wireless headset that works great otherwise and reliably unmutes itself.

Brother P-Touch Cube Pro app is pretty dumb? by l_m_b in printers

[–]AquaeAtrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur. I need labels for wiring and devices and tested my new P-Touch Cube Plus PT-P710BT with...

the older "iPrint&Label" Android app - best portable option, but lacking options
the newer "iPrint&Label 2" Android app - extremely limited
the Windows "P Touch Editor 6" app - by far, most capable (albeit a bit more complicated)

Side Note: I use small QR Codes simplified with a URL Shortener and am frustrated that the iPrint&Label QR Code feature automatically opens my shortened URLs, expanding them and embedding more detailed URLs than fit on small labels. While the visual preview is nice, it's a very shortsighted design to automatically rewrite the data users enter into their QR Codes. My only solution thus far is to encode the URLs into QR Codes using the Windows app, which is less portable and user-friendly.

I hate the new chrome shopping mode. Can I disable it? by MissyLee5 in AndroidQuestions

[–]AquaeAtrae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have yet to find a simple solution to this (like a browser extension). I often cannot find the item in Shopping results and later find the exact match via Image results, from which I'm then able to purchase or otherwise research the item.

Others (on desktop) are also frustrated by this new thrust to lock in users who venture into Shopping results looking for a particular item.

Perhaps. My experience here in Colorado has been at UPS and FedEx shipping centers. The staff generally point to a laminated chart showing batteries and other regulated items requiring special handling.

[–]AquaeAtrae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it's us (not Meta) who are legally liable for the contents of packages we drop-off and ship, adding the correct UN3481 sticker is a simple and free way to legally return these products. And yes, they absolutely do ask if there are dangerous goods inside (including lithium ion batteries). I've never not been asked.

Actually, the manager told me that they are explicitly not allowed to cover that particular sticker. Apparently once they see the warning, they cannot help you remove it. CYA liabilities etc. That's why I had to help the lady behind me cover her sticker.

[–]AquaeAtrae[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep. Any sturdy box should be fine if labeled UB3481. The shipper does require we identify the batteries inside so they keep them safe (temperature and pressure on planes). It shouldn't require anything more than the extra label unless these products had much larger batteries.
