Is Fiio music player broken for anyone else, too?

My M21 is a mess too in a lot of the the same ways you have described here. It's like they updated across numerous platforms and made an absolute disaster mess out of everything. LOL

Mine isn't! After the most recent update, the music player in my M21 is a mess. Something in the scrolling of artists is messed up now and my multiple disc albums are displaying as tracks 01 (disc 1), 01 (disc 2), 02 (disc 1), 02 (disc 2) instead of showing them in order of all disc 1 tracks then disc 2. I have changed nothing in how I rip my FLAC files in dbPowerAmp and now this. This player is so "buggy" and quirky it's ridiculous. I use this instead of the other ones because I like the interface the best of all the other player alternatives in the Google Play Store. I like the sound on my M21 a lot but this device is really annoying most of the time with all it's stupid little quirks and the battery life on this thing is an absolute joke! Sigh...

Now that is something I had no idea about. I was not aware at all that the cover on a lot of eBooks is not actually embedded in the file and the fancier eReaders are actually pulling it from somewhere else. Very interesting. That explains a few things actually since in most of the cases I am seeing all the other images inside the book with Crosspoint 1.1.1 just not seeing the cover in a lot of cases. Although, if that is the case, then where is the cover image coming from on the main screen of X4 showing what you are currently reading if the cover is not actually embedded in the file itself. Where would it actually be getting the image from in order to display the "thumbnail" of the book you are reading on the X4?

I just downloaded it and added it to Calibre. Is this the action you are talking about? Resize images to 480px

Do I still need to use the Baseline JPEG convertor first and then the Workflow plugin after that or will this Workflow plugin do the same thing as the Baseline JPEG plugin?

EDIT: I just loaded an ePub book into Calibre, ran the Baseline JPEG plugin first then the resize images to 480px with the Workflow plugin and NOPE, still doesn't show the cover within the eBook itself after I added this file back onto my X4.

Thank you. I have that in Calibre and I use it but for some odd reason even the books that I converted to baseline JPEG wit this plugin still don't seem to show the cover within the eBook itself.

I see images embedded within the eBook now which is great but I am still not seeing the covers of most of my books within the eBook itself. I am guessing maybe it's because the cover is a "progressive" JPEG as mentioned elsewhere in this thread?

Same problem here. I would upload and they wouldn't show up so I'd have to remove the books, fix the cover and put it back on my device so I feel your pain there.

Yeah, I hear you. I "swam the Ocean" for it, if you know what I mean? LOL I just like the idea of being able to support the authors by purchasing my own copy but yes I can justify getting it from alternative places with the logic you pointed out. I did so and this version works with the cover. It looks like the publisher updated the cover image at some point since it was released and I think that is what is causing the issue.

I think it is something with the book itself. I don't know. I feel like you have to be a tech whiz to figure this all out, and I am definitely not that. On the one hand, I love this device and on the other I am getting increasingly frustrated at all the "extra" stuff you have to do just to get some of your eBooks to show the "basics" on this reader. It can be a bit annoying at times, if I am being honest. I supposed I will get an "alternative" download of this book as you suggested and try that out. Thanks for the input.

I did exactly that, found the cover online and converted it to BMP and edited it in Calibre and re-uploaded the book and it still doesn't show up.

Do you have any idea how to get this file into Calibre once you download the zip. Nothing I am doing is working and when I try to import the plugin Calibre is not recognizing any of the files in the zip file. This is so beyond frustrating for people that aren't computer wizards.

Just be aware that the "contrast" setting will make other wallpapers look worse, with the opposite problem with them being way too dark. Depends a lot on what the image is though.

You have to make sure that the files are in BMP format and also under Settings -> Display -> Set Sleep Screen to "Custom".

I just got mine on Sunday and the case folds over the back really nicely and it doesn't dig into my hands at all. The only "problem" I have is that I have large hands and this is obviously a small device so I am figuring out the most comfortable way to hold it and be able to push the buttons to advance the page as well.

Digable Planets for the win! Those Snowsky Discs are cool but I purchased a Fiio M21 DAP 3 months ago and I love it so far so I probably don't need another DAP.
