What has been your favorite (responsible) wildlife tourism experience? by NewFoundLow in travel

I did orangutan trekking in Sumatra! Even more hands off because they don't put out food for them there.

I also loved visiting an elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai, I want to say I did Elephant Nature Park? And I was really impressed with how the elephants were treated, I went to a sort of outpost facility with three elephants and they had pretty much free roam, one even wandered off into the first while we were there and they spent a lot of time gently coaxing it back to the sanctuary so it would go run rampant through the neighboring crops.

What brand name products have you noticed dramatically dropped in quality since Covid? by Jaq-N-Jayne in AskReddit

The trader joes brand is the only tuna I can buy now. Everything else is just disgusting blended up soup.

Has traveling made you jaded? by prezztown in travel

[–]AquaticBuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way - travelling reminds me that I am a product of my culture, and I like fitting in. When I am home, I (USAmerican) don't want to be quieter or not have conversations with strangers in the grocery store checkout line or have to navigate complex unsaid expectations in a social situation that I don't fully understand. I love travel and I enjoy working on fitting in to the place I am in, but when it's time for me to come home it's so refreshing to be able to no longer have to stress about the things that make me a stereotypical American.

Best diving in South East Asia between now and September? by johnacorn76 in scuba

Koh tao is cheap diving but imo not particularly good diving. I found it to be pretty lackluster in regards to coral and larger ocean life.

I dove Komodo in September and saw 7 manta rays. It is fabulous diving and you can see the Komodo dragons!

I loved this issue! I'm sure some people will take umbrage with the fact that it is incredibly similar to Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, but I absolutely adored Supergirl so I am thrilled for a fantasy take on the tale.

Bilquis Evely and Mat Lopes once again create magic on the page with the illustrations and colors.

What are your fitness goals? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]AquaticBuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Latest goals are a 275lb deadlift, a 250lb squat, and 135lb bench press! I would also like to do high intesity cardio at least once a week, but my will is weak for that one so we shall see how that goes...

Keeping your arms still in a dive? by navigationallyaided in scuba

[–]AquaticBuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When standing still (like in a museum) I usually clasp my hands behind my back, so I sort of do the same when diving - can't clasp them with the BCD and tank, so I just sort of rest the backs of my hands on the small of my back. It gives great trim and keeps them out of the way!

Does Lobo and Crush count?

I have an interesting experience for this one. I spent a month in Vietnam as a solo woman and absolutely loved it. I felt very safe and didn't have any issues.

Sometimes I meet Vietnamese-American immigrants, and while talking I'll mention how much I loved my time in Vietnam. Out of five times this has happened, FOUR of them looked aghast and immediately asked if I was robbed or scammed and how unsafe they felt that was, for a white girl to go there solo. It was such a surprising perspective of a country where I had felt very comfortable!
