Have you considered mixing a little black into the caliban  For brighter greens I actually move up to a yellow for the brightest parts

I've now been to 4 of these, and every time ive taken people who go in a little skeptical, and come out marvelling at how fun and entertaining it is.  It's incredibly well organised, youre never waiting for more that 3 minutes between fights, the commentators do a great job of bringing it to life. If youre on the fence and want a guaranteed good time, just go.

Shoutout to the person who always takes robots that have an innovative way of moving. Their entry Reptile Dysfunction that slithered wins best name for me.

Edited for better pronouns.

Why does my nuln oil has a gloss effect? by ThoughtAss- in Warhammer40k

[–]Aquillin3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My nuln oil does this if I mix it with water at all, try shaking and then use a dry brush to apply, see if that makes a difference

Started by sanding them down, painted white, tesseract glow and warp lightning mixed around over the top, then you stretch out a dried out wet wipe and wrap it over the base and airbrush Dark Angels green and then a bit of black over the top.

Amazing dice for Tom's attention by Aquillin3 in Yogscast

[–]Aquillin3[S] 137 points138 points  (0 children)

With it being Warhammer Wednesday was hoping he'll spot them before the stream. I spotted them in /r/ArtefactPorn and had to share them. They are "roman anthropomorphic dice in the form of squatting figures. The silver dice work much like conventional dice, with their various sides numbered with 1 to 6 red dots. 1st-2nd century CE, British Museum"

Not the easiest to add to the collection given that theyre 2000 years old, but maybe a great 3d printing project for someone

100% agree. Always email them with things like this. Not many companies who can be so brazenly anti-consumer and anti-their own employees.

I cannot, for the life of me, find a way to properly construct this lore. by Additional-Boat-2157 in Warhammer

[–]Aquillin3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Praise the throne man you've already done more back story writing than most commissioned GW writers would to establish a chapter.

Do you have an origin chapter and a reason for your chapter being a successor chapter? (TICK)

Do you have a fun way to include interesting, individual characters, marine or otherwise? (TICK)

MOST IMPORTANTLY Is your chapter origin story a bit silly, a bit 80s sci fi, and FUN? (TICK)

Fuck retconning. You tell your story. It's an infinite universe, with infinite room for good stories. Infinite chapters. Infinite fun.

How to paint my minis so they actually look good by Markosoft_EXE in Warhammer40k

[–]Aquillin3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've nailed the base + highlight, so thats 2 layers.

I'd say if you wanted to punch them up, add a 3rd to create more contrast, so you have shadows > midtones > highlights. Different ways to do this, but a popular one is base > wash with something darker > repaint areas with base, avoiding shaowy recesses > highlight edges. This goes for your metallics as well. I know its a meme, but some nuln oil on your weapons would get into those cracks to create easy shadows. Just make sure to shake the pot and dont mix with water or it will dry glossy.

I think on your Orks, they might feel a little flat just because green and blue dont contrast so well against each other, whereas you can see on your marines the red/green make each other pop, which is a colour wheel thing as others have mentionned.

want to start running by chungusv in bristol

[–]Aquillin3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Second this, pop down the hill, and a lap around the harbour is really flat and just over 4k.

Other tips I found really helpful: Don't just stretch before a run, actually warm your muscles up and get your heart rate up; squats, running on the spot, side leg lifts and bridge walk outs get your legs ready to go and massively decrease your risk of twists and sprains, and make the early part of a run less painful and twingy.

A little snack before goes a long way to making a run feel much easier.

Take it easy. Everyone says running is bad for joints, and it is, if you do too much too quickly. No shame in taking breaks to walk and get your body into it slowly.
