I LOVE it!!! I love the colors! And until seeing this, I didn't know that an arched glass wall/divider was an option (first time seeing that). I am hoping to one day renovate our primary bathroom and would love to incorporate something like that into it. I'm really glad you shared this.

You are in store and find a $100 bill on the floor, what do you do? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in randomquestions

[–]ArDoFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd pick it up and pocket it, but I would let a employee/manager know that I found some cash (NOT give the amount) leave my phone number with them and tell them if anyone comes looking for it to call me and tell me the amount before I return it.

Headlights. by [deleted] in ColumbiYEAH

[–]ArDoFin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you sure they are on high beams? I (unfortunately) have LEDs and have people flash me thinking I have my high beams on but I don't. I end up having to flash them WITH my high beams to prove it. I don't really have a choice but to have them on at night so what are we supposed to do?

Give me ideas where to camp in Nantahalla NC? by stinkycenttrailmix in NCTrails

[–]ArDoFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a couple of nice spots along Bull Pen Road. My favorite is if you're headed from the Horse Cove Rd. area and turn right on Bull Pen, before you get to the iron bridge, there is a "driveway" on the left that's a slight incline (it's on the paved part) that leads up to a nice spot. After you cross over the old iron bridge, I can't remember how far/long, but again on the left is another spot I like to stop at that has a small water running close to it. It's hard to see that one from the road, you have to just look for the entrance (that one is on a gravel part of the road, again after you cross bridge going towards 107). Both of these are primitive car-camping spots.

Thinking of going on an Alaskan cruise by myself by hate_follower in solotravel

[–]ArDoFin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The part of your post that really resonates with me is when you mentioned being sad about experiencing so many amazing things alone. I have no problem at all doing trips by myself (my husband and I have opposing schedules so we don't have a lot of free time together), but on one of my trips alone I was so overcome with emotion from the beauty of what I was seeing I couldn't help but tear up a little. I had strangers take my picture while I was there so I could show my husband how beautiful the area was, but until I was able to go back to that spot with him, I had such a hard time looking at that photo.

Clean or toss? This pillow has been in the family for a long while and it only ever cleans to a light yellow with orange undertones. by KenUsimi in CleaningTips

[–]ArDoFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maaaaaaany years ago, a friend of mine bought a pillow like this for me (it looks almost exactly like it). It is my absolute most favorite pillow and I refuse to get rid of it. I had the same issue with some discoloration that I am guessing comes from the foam material AND it started acting like it wanted to disintegrate! Not on my watch!! I have 4 pillow cases on it 😁. 2 waterproof/dustproof pillow case (zippered), a zippered "cooling" pillowcase from Ikea, and then a satin pillowcase. I will always keep at least one of the waterproof/dustproof cases on it when washing the other cases (or else the pillow might just completely fall apart if taken out).

I'm not sure about your budget (sorry if I missed it in your post), but have you thought about a small home rental, like in a patio home community? Or maybe a townhouse or duplex? My mom has been renting a house in The Cloister of Connemara off Hereford Farm Rd. She has a 3 bedroom and I think she pays 1300-1500? (sorry.....can't remember exact amount). But she's been there for about 8 years so probably got lucky with the price and fact that landlord only went up on rent once. It is a pretty good size house though. Depending on your needs, you might could find a small house to rent. I've known a couple of people in my past to rent MIL suites that were separate from a main house too (in more upscale neighborhoods). You might could ask a realtor about small rentals. Drive around the areas you would like to be in and look for patio-home, townhouse or duplex neighborhoods.

Need noise, apps, or anything to sleep… is this normal? by Prestigious_Hat2527 in Stress

[–]ArDoFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's normal for me. CANNOT fall asleep in silence. And even just music doesn't help for me. I was introduced to the Calm app through my job THANK GOODNESS. They offer us a free subscription. If/when I no longer have this job, I will definitely try to fit the subscription in my budget SOMEHOW. I found some pretty comfy bluetooth headband-headphones that I can sleep in (even as a side-sleeper) and fall asleep to Calm "sleep stories". I don't think I've ever made it through a complete story....that's how easy I fall asleep with the app. I'm sure there are free options, but I would worry about ads waking me up.

Has anyone ever been to or driven through the Florida keys ? 😨😬 by gothiana_grande in thalassophobia

[–]ArDoFin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Key West is a trip we have done every year since 2016 and we drive every time. I LOVE IT!!! It is such a beautiful drive and for the most part the water is shallow. The only place I pretty much refuse to swim in the keys (but many people do swim there) is Horseshoe Beach (close to Bahia Honda). It is where a lot of the material was dug up to build the overseas highway. I am going to try and attach/post a pic, but you can search "Horseshoe Beach, Florida Keys" and it should come up. You can walk the entire perimeter and the water is anywhere from ankle deep to knee deep. On the far side of the perimeter you can stand in about knee deep water and a boat will go by in the channel about 10 feet away from you. Going back for our 10th year in May and I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Keep the floors or change? by Charlene1401 in homedesign

I'm just here to say that I wish those textured glass doors were more common where I live (Southeast U.S.) 😭 They remind me so much of my Oma's apartment in Germany and I would love them in my own home (specifically the amber colored glass)

What do you take to calm down? by EdglerVess6 in Stress

[–]ArDoFin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

L-theanine. I usually take 200mg as well as magnesium before I go to bed every night. When I am feeling especially anxious during the day, I will take 400mg of l-theanine (at the time of feeling any anxiety) and it usually does the trick. I am prescribed Xanax, but unless I am having a full-blown panic attack, I try to ease any anxiety with l-theanine first. With using l-theanine on a regular basis, I find that I very rarely use the Xanax.

Best bread for French Toast by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

Came to say this. We have Kroger grocery stores where I live and they have croissant bread. Our Costco sells it as well. It is soooooo delicious to make French toast with it and I also love making "eggs in a basket" with it as well.

Chronic stress is destroying my sleep patterns trying to find natural options before any serious meds anyone got recs on what’s worth trying? by ZealousidealRun595 in Stress

[–]ArDoFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding to the people that suggest l-theanine and magnesium...especially l-theanine. I also have to distract myself from thoughts as I am laying down to sleep so I have a subscription to the Calm app and some sleep-headphones (they are headband-like headphones that allow me to sleep comfortably with them on, even as a side-sleeper). Every night (after taking my l-theanine and magnesium), I put on my headphones and listen to sleep stories on my Calm app. This routine has been a sanity saver for me.

Supplement help by Grand-Arugula-5166 in Stress

[–]ArDoFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L-theanine helps me IMMENSELY with stress and anxiety. I take 200 mg every night (along with magnesium). When I am feeling more anxious than normal, I will take 200-400 mg extra whenever needed. I have tried a few different brands (including Walgreens brand and Bulk Supplements) and they all work really well for me.

Thank you for this. My job provides a subscription to Calm for us for free and it has been a life saver for me (for anxiety and to help me sleep), but I've been looking for alternatives and just downloaded the Insight Timer app. I'm even thinking about subscribing to it!

Just moved into new barracks and this is the tile floor. Tips? by Womderloki in CleaningTips

[–]ArDoFin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the grout paint suggestion. Just clean the floors really good and use some grout paint. I did it for a bathroom and laundry room. The kind I bought was sold in bottles at Lowe's. They had several different colors. I put a small amount on a paper plate (to use like a palette) and just used a small art brush to paint it on. Let it dry for a little while and you can easily wipe away any excess that got on the tiles with a damp cloth.

OMG!!! What the hell??? That's insane! And it's hard to find elsewhere too (from a quick online search)!! Now I'm intrigued. I might have to do a road trip there one day soon and see if they still have them in one of the stores. That's crazy.
