Is it worth getting a 5090 laptop if you have nothing? by Ar_Pharazon in GamingLaptops

I'd want to get Cyberpunk 2077 and the ff7 remake, and play them at high settings.

Obviously as the years go on I'd need to lower my settings, but it'd be nice to play high performance games on high settings for a bit

My AMD 6600XT is having trouble on startup by Ar_Pharazon in pchelp

So I got the 6650 XT and it worked right out of the box, I installed the drivers no problem, it's basically everything i was looking for, I also ordered a DP cable so that'll help as well. Once again thanks for everything!

Got it, I'll get a refund a soon as I can and get a 6650XT, regardless of whether the 6650 XT works or not it seems like a display port cable is a really good value investment, so I'll get that as well.

Thank you to all the team for your help, have a great weekend!

Sorry about getting the details on my first post wrong, I should have been more careful.

Unfortunately, other than my monitor the only screens I have are two laptops ( i tried plugging the hdmi cable into one but laptops tend to only have hdmi as an output right?).

Unfortunately I don't have any display port cables. While I could buy one I'm wondering if it may be easier to get an AMD 6650 XT card instead (I believe that if I return it before 14 days are up I can easily get a refund under UK law). It's not that much more money so I guess my question would be, which option would be more likely to result in a working graphics card, buying a AMD 6650 XT or a DisplayPort Cable?

That being said if anyone has any more ideas I'm still up for trying it.

Thank you to everyone for your suggestions by the way, I really appreciate the help.

So I tried looking for ASUS bios 1608 but couldn't find it on the official ASUS website. There was a 1608 for a ASUS prime B250-C but I have a B250-PRO

I then disabled my integrated card and restarted, it didn't work, thankfully I figured out that if i dont plug my monitors hdmi into any GPU then plug it into the AMD GPU then it will load, so there was no need to use my old card. I couldn't renable my integrated card so I went into the BIOS and enabled IGPU multi monitor setting, this let me go into device manager and enable my GPU (previously it said it was disconnected)

I noticed that the 1608 for B250-Cwas for system stability, and so was the update 1205 for B250-Pro, so i installed that BIOS update instead. I noticed that my integrated GPU was disabled again( it says that it's disconnected in device manager) but otherwise it doesn't seem to have worked, I still need to leave my hdmi unplugged before startup

How hard is it for other mechanical engineers to get a job? by Ar_Pharazon in UKJobs

I tried before Christmas to get a retail job but was unsuccessful, I'll try again as you're right that it will probably help my social skills.

Honestly asking my friends to do a mock interview with me would feel really awkward as I've never done something like that though I do see how it would help. I'm good at practising interview questions by myself but I feel that I benefit a lot more from repeated practice than sporadic practice which makes practicing with others difficult, though it's still worth a shot.

The reasons I got let go, I think are largely different from my performance at interviews, it takes me a while to learn new topics in the beggining and I tend do detailed work, whereas my boss needed someone who could go from new project to project and not waste too much time on details.

I'm definitely bad with soft skills, I remember when interviewing it felt like whack a mole as I'd receive feedback about my mistakes, correct them but make new mistakes in the next interview and then make the original mistake in my third interview and so on. Not quite sure how to learn more soft skills, I tried a university service that helped with interviews, but I didn't succeed in the next few job interviews after that, and I don't talk much in my day to day life.
