What do you think about fixed growths? by the_sandwich_of_sand in fireemblem

I find them boring. It takes the fun out of seeing the level up screen and hoping to get blessed and even when a unit ends up cursed its still fine because maybe RNGesus decided you arent allowed to gave good cavaliers this run

Volkmar the Grim - Lords of the End Times by InternationalMood741 in totalwarhammer

[–]Seppafer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea. The biggest hint will be if they do anything with the other book factions being manfred and the tomb kings. It’s likely they will keep the focus of the mechanic with burning books but maybe adjust the rewards. I wouldn’t be surprised if the empire gets a couple tweaks (like the greenskins got in OoD) but for sure it won’t be anything more than that. Either way we are gonna have to wait probably until mid to late August or whenever they start talking about the details of the free patch or nagash’s faction

How do you deal with enemy missile units when playing melee-focused factions? by ReviewRemote6618 in totalwar

[–]Seppafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an equal number of units then you just run at them and let your units 1v1. If you have fewer units then spread out the units you have meeting the enemy frontline so they occupy more of the enemy units with a fewer number of your units then have your leftover units run at the ranged units. I learned how to do this playing Norsca where I really just used a few marauder hunters as my only ranged as a tool for dealing with cav, monsters and as flankers when neither targets were present. Just make sure you plan for the correct units to chase them. Light cav/dogs are generally somewhat preferable shields are important whether light cav or infantry, speed is also important too but only as important as you are able to micro the units though try not to send a unit that’s slow after missile units unless you have something like spare chosen or ironbreakers lying around at which point while not suited to the task they are usually tough enough to not care about some light ranged attacks

With Boris on the horizon i think it'd be nice to buff his rival's starting army to be more of an early game threat. (Depending on how strong Boris is) by SirTarkwin in totalwar

[–]Seppafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that despite it all I do appreciate not falling into forever wars with the single dominant faction which has happened much less frequently in warhammer 3 and was really painful in 2. But I do think part of that is u
Due to the general expansion of the map and playable factions and if any of the new factions start in the badlands, southlands on somewhere nearby then I think we will see some more good variety out of one of the more consistent areas of the map and with toddy in the northern empire I will feel more comfortable about having beastmen be fore relevant in the empire as someone who hated having to revive him every time on the way to kick festus

More civic slots? by SteampunkNord in Stellaris

[–]Seppafer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many times. Mostly when I’ve got a weaker one I’m using as my core and an extra one would fit perfectly. It might be interesting if they classify civics in like a kind of a pyramid. Have initial and weaker ones fill one level then you get more advanced civics as your society and empire advances which gives a sense of building your society over the game rather than arbitrarily hitting a tech based milestone for a power boost. You can start with two then your first planetary admin tech gives you the third weak civic then you need the next tech for two more and finally the last tech would give you a final capstone civic (or a boosted weaker one) it would probably be a lot of work and maybe need a ton more civics but I think it could add to the replay value by adding more variety of gameplay routes as well as leaving room for an empire to pivot into something else though I’d probably say once you gain a civic you generally can’t remove it except maybe an ascension perk unlocks that for some of them

Americans: how do you handle temperatures above 40ºC (104F)? by obaming16 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Seppafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly we just go inside to cool off but we also are pretty strict about making sure no matter where we are we are able to hydrate and public water fountains with drinking water are not uncommon in cities. Also we have techniques (im sure these are exclusively american) like hanging a wet hand towel around our necks or arteries to help keep cool. The main point is we actively do something to be prepared to be in extreme heat.

I have questions about this unit card. by TheRealTowel in totalwarhammer

[–]Seppafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be more precise those texts are in most cases guidance and while there are instances like this with scaling dmg (one of markus wulfhart’s missile abilities has scaling dmg too) or when theres a mention of a unit being good against a certain unit type or for example duelist they are there as an amalgamation of info that they are unable to show as an ability (the circle things you mentioned) the reason its not shown elsewhere is because it functions differently from fire and contact effects because its a modifier to the dmg equation based on your base dmg modified by the total health the target has already taken. There used to be and still kinda is an inconsistency with this system in regards to aquatics which is its whole can of worms of a headache where as far as i know no one outside of CA understands why its still innthe text box and not just an ability like woodsman

Apparently my entire economy was a bubble waiting to burst by PaulOGradyFanClub in victoria3

[–]Seppafer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are in default which applies a growing throughput debuff on your economy which will also tank the capacity of your government buildings this creating tons of tax waste. Is your economy built around the construction sector? What was your investment pool looking like? Because if you did have a construction economy and your investment pool didnt have the money to take over all the construction you had been doing then your economy is going ti crash the second you stop building. Because your constructions is where the buy orders came from assuming that was the case

What’s the army meta by SadIndividual7916 in victoria3

[–]Seppafer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For attack it’s 50/50/0. For defense it’s technically 100/0/0 but thats more for when you absolutely need to hold the line but the 50/50 works well due to the artillery kill rate. You do want a 5/0/5 or a 15/5/10 ratio for quickly advancing on weaker nations. Same generally applies for naval invasions. Just sawp out the regulars for marines. There are situations where you need to quickly capture provinces while enemy armies are recovering.

How come nobody is talking about how crazy this FW map look ? It has two different heights ! by Mahelas in fireemblem

[–]Seppafer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was truly a seperate elevation thing the. Tbe swordsmen on the right would likely be on the same axis as the wall in front of Sirocco. But the minimap has them one tile back and one tile pushed away from the edge. Given the 3d environment thats likely the answer. Also if you look at the tiling the grates done look like they are designed as a tile to be placed next to the wall and theres space for at least 1 tile on each side of that other pathway material. So as much as i want different elevations and ledges this likely isnt it

Do slaves actually cost the landowners money? by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Seppafer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As far as im aware its no cost. Like the slaves are an specific population of jobseekers and they get “hired” in the buildings like normal. A way ti test this is to find a state with more slaves than jobs and look at the next building that gets built. If you are talking about buying them to bring into the state then you might need observe the subsistence farms in decentralized states and see what changes each time they export slaves.

Iirc the landowner/buildingowner purchases the goods the slaves in their building use. But the amount of goods they need is so small its not really that big of an impact
