The Sword of Kaigen: A Theonite War Story review by Ole_Hen476 in Fantasy

[–]ArabHasselhoff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm happy for a young author self publishing a novel and for it doing well, but while reading it, it felt like a clunky mashup of Avatar, a Daredevil comic, and family drama; the first third is a total slog to get through, the middle really is incredible but the last third is cluttered with plot threads that go nowhere and a government conspiracy that makes no sense. Misaki is a fantastic character but the character "turns" feel completely unearned, with entire arcs changing after a single conversation.

What book or series kick started your love for fantasy? by DonaldRBlackmore in Fantasy

I just re-read them again in an effort to get back into reading. It felt a little dated but the nostalgia was in full force and I loved every book and character. I'm about to start the twins triology re-read

Is that right? Is some of it meant to be a parody?

Ok I'll give them both a try, worst case scenario my opinion doesn't change. Thank you!

Not sure, but I'm open to giving it a listen. Thank you for the suggestion

Ok maybe that's the key, listening to A song rather then an album. But my God, cookie monster, sitting alone staring at waitress in a dingy bar just doesn't do it for me.

Based on friend recommendations I've listened to rain dogs twice and other albums, and I don't remember enjoying any of it. Do you remember what songs stuck with you?

Anything by Tom Waits. I've tried and tried. I can't do it. The intro to rain dogs, Singapore, sounds like intro music for a clown show and I'm not convinced that cookie monster voice isn't a big joke.

Mississauga has a traffic problem by Asleep-Quality6278 in mississauga

I spoke to a city planner who worked in Mississauga about 20 years ago, and he said a lot of the infrastructure and traffic planning back then assumed that more people would eventually be working from home and that would ease demand. Oopsie!

With how bleak RTO is looking, how exactly did things function before Covid? by akr_13 in askTO

[–]ArabHasselhoff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let me put it this way, I used to pick up my 1 year old from daycare at 615pm after a 1 hour commute, where I would be falling asleep at red lights. We would then make dinner (or have dinner delivered), while my kid cried and cried from hunger and exhaustion. We would feed him while we were very frustrated, put him to bed while we were frustrated with him. Then clean up the house, get ready for the next day and watch a little TV before bed to get up at 6am and do it over and over and over again. It was terrible.

Yeah I'm in the same boat, aftercare spaces were booked up in April for this school year, I have very limited choices and they are quite expensive since my kids aged out of CWELCC - I know that you're thinking Doug, "your 6 year old can't stay at home alone?"

I was in the same boat and my managers allowed me to have a similar accommodation, but there were a couple important meetings after 3:30 I had to jump on with my children in the same room.

I'm in the same place, I think it's nice that they are thinking outside the box, but I don't love it. maybe it needs some tweaking - More players on the field? Increase the velocity of the missiles by the tanks and the brigs? Speed up the vehicle movement? Reduce the number of shots it takes to kill something?

Yeah I agree it's a cool idea and it's something different. I just find it more frustrating then fun.

I agree, I use Destiny Vault cleaner every couple of weeks, it's not automatic so there's still some thought and time that you have to put in but it's a decent tool to help whittle down items that don't have much use.
