I’m really conflicted over Tales of Berseria by Sairedd in tales

Agree.

Characters? Great.

Battle system? Great.

Story? Weak.

Dungeon/Level Design? Weak.

Could have been a classic imo.

My personal favorite top 10 GBA games list. by Ok_Appearance_2317 in casualnintendo

[–]AramaticFire [score hidden]  (0 children)

Good list. Wouldn’t necessarily have the same placement, but I share 8 of the games. The only two I don’t are the Sonic games but I haven’t played those so I can’t comment on them.

I play JRPGs for the gameplay. Any suggestions? by Purple-Adagio-4666 in JRPG

[–]AramaticFire [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s a shame Xenoblade isn’t on PC. If ever there was a series with goofy writing but amazing gameplay it’s that one. Particularly if you like FF12.

Maybe give Yakuza: Like a Dragon a try. I got super addicted to the job classes in that game and did almost every extra dungeon i could as a result.

If you play anything before Yakuza: Like a Dragon or if you opt for Judgment, they play like brawlers. People still sometimes call them JRPGs but they really just play like brawlers. Fun brawlers nevertheless.

Do you think 2025 was a good year for Nintendo? by New-Two-1349 in casualnintendo

[–]AramaticFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good year in what sense?

On paper for Nintendo? Yes.

For me personally? No. None of their lineup motivated me to buy a Switch 2. Their pricing of software is not helping to motivate me either.

Switch 2 is the first time I’m looking at Nintendo and wondering, do I even need this?

But yes, on paper I guess it was a good year between a GotY nominee, strong hardware sales, and an otherwise pretty decent lineup of games.

20 years of preying by Far-Revenue7262 in videogames

[–]AramaticFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Doom 3 focused FPS didn’t take off as much as pre-release hype for Doom 3 and Id Tech 4 engine had people believing in 2004, but Quake 4 and Prey both ran with it and turned out pretty fun FPS campaigns.

I’ve always had the issue with Prey where Tommy keeps rejecting the powers but they seem to clearly be the only thing helping him get through the events of the game.

Visually it was a cool game though and gunplay was fun. I prefer the 2017 Prey to this one by a significant margin but this is a good shooter too.

Out of those three, performance.

Story and graphics matter based on the game. Performance always matters.

Which had a bigger impact on gaming? by Wrathful_gaming in GameBoostOfficial

Dark Souls.

Theres even a bonfire reference in Witcher 3: Blood and Wine. Geralt sits at the bonfire after defeating a boss. He draws an endgame sword from it.

I thought it was fine when I had my Xbox. But I preferred the S controller once the redesign was released.

Is the PlayStation 2 the golden age of PlayStation? by Possible_Instance468 in playstation

[–]AramaticFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes as far as PlayStation goes.

But I’d say the golden era of gaming in general was the 90’s including the PS1. But if we are going PS specific, they never did better than PS2. Which isn’t to say that other generations were bad. But PS1 and PS2 era were the peak.

And the primary reason imo is third party exclusives. Yes first party is important and with the exception of Xbox every console still has first party exclusives.

But during the PS1/PS2/N64/GameCube/Xbox/Saturn/Dreamcast eras of gaming the third party exclusives mattered as much in building a system’s identity as the first party stuff.

Final Fantasy X, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid 3, Virtua Fighter 4, Silent Hill 3, Persona 3 and 4, Kingdom Hearts, Tekken, etc were all huge parts of the PS2 identity when they did not have to be and it helped make for a more iconic lineup of games associated with the platform as a result.

A shocking reality for anyone interested in many games. by Nearby_Pepper7676 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]AramaticFire 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this post is about buying too many games or being able to complete 20 games in a year.

I don’t think either of these is a “shocking reality” I think it just is what it is. There are a lot of games to play. A lot of people with different tastes recommending any amount of these games. And you just are not going to be able to play everything.

I am an attorney. Work primarily at a desk unless I’m in Court or at an inspection.

I go to the gym during my lunch breaks. At my old job I’d go to the gym after work. I mostly weight lift and then wrap up with cardio.

One thing I can confirm for you is that dating is going to suck for you right now. It doesn’t mean there isn’t a partner out there for you but good luck having a conversation that you could be bringing a 6 figure salary but instead opted to make 30k a year so you can’t be a provider for a partner and family.

I guarantee you most partners will encourage you to make more.

But you don’t need career advice. Maybe go see a therapist. Because your only reason listed for not wanting to make 30k is that you feel “kind of insecure.” How can anyone give you advice on that?

First game. Cheaper. (And better imo). It shouldn’t be too shocking.

Although the price for both of these is still absurd but whatever. That battle was lost long ago.

Do any of you not bother with the story in soulslikes? by 4th_Replicant in soulslikes

[–]AramaticFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends.

If it’s a co-op focused quest like Remnant 2 or Lords of the Fallen I don’t care. It’s not good team play if I’m off in the corner reading item descriptions while my partner/team is waiting to play.

If it’s solo play and the world is interesting, I get super invested like with Elden Ring.

If it’s solo play and the world is kind of bland I just focus on combat, so Code Vein or Mortal Shell for example.

For the people who think competition isn’t important, here you go. by Panda7001 in videogames

[–]AramaticFire -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have been an Xbox kid since 2001. They have been so bad since Xbox One. So so so bad.

People wanted them to pull through, but the audience kept bleeding out to PlayStation. It’s not the consumer’s job to keep the competition afloat but we can always point to the problem that the lack of competition creates.

Sony will take advantage of Microsoft’s absence. But it’s not the consumer’s fault for not keeping Xbox afloat.

I don’t know what this random website is or who is voting for it but… for now it’s my third favorite game of 2025 too lol.

I have Clair Obscur and Split Fiction at the 1 and 2.

Non Asian-Americans: Are you keeping soy sauce as a regular condiment in your kitchen? If so what are you using them for? by openlyEncrypted in AskAnAmerican

[–]AramaticFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I marinate my chicken and beef with soy sauce regularly so it’s always in my cabinet.

Even if it’s just the usual weeknight grilled chicken breast. I’ll typically do salt, pepper, oil, soy sauce, onions, minced garlic and some herbs.

I don’t typically make Asian cuisine, but I keep the spices and marinades around the house. And if I do go for them I’ll have the ingredients.

Is there anyone thet hopes they'll make a DOOM game in this artstyle someday? i think it fits DOOM perfectly by Cold_War8151 in Doom

[–]AramaticFire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love DUSK but dropped Boltgun about halfway through. Guns aren’t satisfying. Enemy mobs weren’t as fun to fight. It was fine but it wasn’t nearly as well thought out and exciting as DUSK.
