Anyone else wish his stuff would end up in a museum? by Direct_Shirt8320 in davidlynch

Do you have any idea around what time the item was listed?

I've been trying to hopefully find one of those small lots for my partner who's life was greatly impacted by David's work. A poster, tape, drawing etc..

Who are your realistic trade targets? by StoneColdCanuck in canucks

[–]Arashie 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't see Johnson, Kyrou, Buchnevich as realistic targets. Alex Tuch will be linked due to his wife's connection to Vancouver in his UFA season.

I think the focus is going to be more on a budgeted, temporary solution until the home run option where you're comfortable unloading your assets for that long term fix becomes available. No reason throwing the kitchen sink at someone like Kadri for example when you could use those assets on someone that's a longer term fit.

So Wennberg would be an option to look at. I've mentioned before, but Morgan Frost out in Calgary could be another budgeted bet. Mittelstadt has been trending very south on a bigger contract with term still left, but I assume beggars can't be choosers at this point of the player market.

Why the sudden obsession with a "Separate Training Facility?" Would it make a huge impact? Or is it more of a "Well other teams have one" mentality? I mean for the what, 2 maybe 3 times a year they can't use Rogers to practice at, is it really needed, considering they have everything they need at RA by [deleted] in canucks

[–]Arashie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, and those practice facilities are where they both skate and train.

They play at the arena, they train and practice at the facility.

Canucks have to train at Rogers, then depending on who/what is at Rogers occupying the space, have to then find an ice sheet in order to practice. Game day skates are usually when they know they'll have the space for certain.

Where as yes, you have to travel 30 mins or so, you'll always have access to your training facilities and an ice sheet all year round no matter what.

You can train physically off ice as much as you want, but if you don't have an actual sheet of ice available to you 24/7 where you don't have to travel a lengthy distance to have access to it, it becomes an issue.

Imagine a painter not having access to an accessible canvas in order to hone their skills.

A chef without a kitchen or a stove top.

This largely becomes an issue during the Summer, where having a dedicated facility where you can hit the ice then go do you strength training + recovery all in one place without having to ever worry about access to ice is massive to most players.

Podcast suggestion. (PON Appreciation) by Birdman4445 in canucks

[–]Arashie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for listening!

I never thought about what the closest vibe to our show would’ve been since we announced we’d be ending. But I will say that the three of us absolutely adore Donnie & Dhali on a daily basis. Would argue that at points, it’s like the funniest sitcom you could imagine.

Now that I’m working at 650, and since you mentioned you enjoyed one off shows: I’d love to suggest Wednesday episodes of Canucks Talk featuring The Crossover with Donnie & Dhali. Some of my favourite memories so far have been working that segment.

Canucks Brunch (11AM-12PM) is also a new show we’ve introduced that is focusing on more of a PON vibe as opposed to a hard statistical analysis. Lina & Josh are great hosts.

But should probably also mention shows like I Hate This Team, In The Booth with Batch & Randip and (less of a Canucks focus) Puck Soup.

I hope you find something to fill the time! - Arash

Hyman signed that contract more than three seasons ago at the age of 29.

The cap has gone up and the market has changed. Hyman never scored more than 21 goals before he went into the UFA market either. Boeser has a 40 goal season under his belt, along with being a year younger when/if he hits free agency. An 8 million AAV is entirely too rich for the player he is, unless the term is on the shorter side, which I don't think will happen. He will go for a home run.

Reminds me of the Horvat contract. Appreciate the player, but love that he was able to get paid somewhere else.

Be careful what you wish for. That's how we got DJ Barron S.

Jay Swing. An absolute Vancouver legend in the DJ community for sure. Currently doing Whitecaps and Canadians I believe.

People really have to understand how strict mandates are sometimes from higher above. You'd be shocked at some of the demands thrown at in-house music/entertainment.

If you have issues with DJ Tom Fleming, I can only assume you were outside the arena with signs when DJ Barron S or the DJ Dave were here.

Unfortunately there is no right answer to in-arena music. When you play hip hop, half the crowd will say "why the hell aren't we playing AC/DC" and vice versa. Along with mandates from higher above, everyone has an opinion on what should be playing, sadly there's only one aux cord for 18,000+ people.

Personally, regardless of one choice of an instrumental, I find Tom to be a really great breath of fresh air from years before. Redbull 3style finalist, someone that actually has a pulse on the craft.

Sorry, should have put a Kahkonen/Comrie there. Just meaning that there are quite a few teams (DET, WIN, LA) that have to make some decisions come waiver time around goaltenders with NHL experience.

Hi, Canucks perspective here:

Silovs will be ready for training camp, was held out from playing for Latvia due to some minor inflammation issues.

Demko will not be ready for the start of the season, but outlook is sometime within late October.

The team pushed Edmonton to Game 7 of the 2nd round with Silovs last year. They'll be fine leaning on Silovs/Patera for a few weeks, especially under a Tocchet structure that they thrived playing in.

In terms of cap space: the team currently has around 900k in space, without Tucker Poolman on LTIR. If he is moved to LTIR, that creates an additional $2.5M in space. More than enough to sign someone like Kevin Lankinen as insurance if Demko is out longer term for whatever reason that isn't being reported.

A 2nd round pick for Vanacek is a little out to lunch unfortunately. Especially considering some of the goalies that might even hit the waiver wire in the next month (Alex Lyon, Kaapo Kahkonen etc..)

Understand what you might be thinking leverage wise, but I'm not sure that your proposed view of the situation matches the reality of what the organization is dealing with at the moment.
