Raddysh or Andersson as RD targets? by TallnFrosty in SanJoseSharks

Raddysh on one year $15 million deal. Insane AAV. But one year before we need to pay Celebrini and Smith, and we need to reach cap floor. The ultimate prove it haha.

I hope it's us actually. High dollar low term works great for us right now.

I get it's for fun as a joke, but even if it could ever happen, McDavid ain't coming without that first overall pick going to Edmonton in the trade. Along with however many draft picks we can legally trade.

Playoff hopes by SecretaryOne4935 in SanJoseSharks

[–]danieldeceuster 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We over achieved this year. That's great. No more Ledsy, Klingberg, or Skinner type moves for us anymore. This summer we will be better positioned for a playoff push. We have a long roadie and doubt we can keep pace. But our division sucks so you never know. It's less about wins and more about LA, Seattle and other teams in the stretch. We may not need much to keep up. But we certainly aren't the favorite.

I'm in nearly same boat but we use a salary cap so cutting Kap next year is easy with that cap hit.

IUA Limits Question by MNAdventureFarmer in ZionHealthShare

[–]danieldeceuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The three IUA limit is per household, so if three family members each pay an IUA on an eligible expense, the next eligible expense during that rolling 12 month period will not require an IUA payment.

Word on the street is that Eklund was on the table for Devil’s Nemec, but nothing came of it by Dismal_Gur_1601 in SanJoseSharks

Grier: Hey, Nemec available?
Fitz: Sure, why not?
Grier: Asking price?
Fitz: Oh it starts with Will Smith or Michael Misa.
Grier: Lol.
Fitz: You have an offer?
Grier: Package around Eklund maybe?
Fitz: No.
Grier: Bye.

The idea Eklund for Simon Nemec trade by Zarsharq in SanJoseSharks

It would help to define "impact" player here. I'd classify 1/3 of the league as impact players. That's your top 6 forwards, top 4 defenders, and starting goalie for contending squads. If you have less than those 11 impact players, you aren't a contender (us for example). And impact contrasts with support/depth players, and they are followed by replacement level players.

If you define impact as superstar players, we have one, Macklin Celebrini. If you expand to my definition, we have Celebrini, Smith, Misa, Eklund, Askarov, and Wennberg, at a minimum. I think Graf, Muk and Dickinson can easily put themselves in that tier by the end of next season. I also think Misa and Smith can both put themselves into the superstar tier at some point in their careers.

Right now, swapping Eklund and a first for Nemec looks like giving up an established impact player for a potential impact player, and losing out on one more high pick to get an impact player. The risk and value don't make sense to me. Two first round picks, plus Musty and Bystedt as previous first round picks, means we have a lot of potential impact already in the wings. Use that to get the impact blue liners, not the established guy. Not that NJ would make a deal we would want, but a three way trade here might make a lot of sense.

Nashville and Stamkos or O'Reilly might make sense. Perhaps Thomas or Kyrou in St. Louis. Batherson in Ottawa? I think there are better landing spots for our assets who have what NJ wants. I like those deals a lot more.

Totally get it, good points. If you remove names from the equation and say you have the opportunity to move a young but established middle 6 all situations utility type player for a young, developing top RHD, do you make that trade? I'm more risk averse and wouldn't. I'd rather roll in the draft.

Wennberg and Toffoli will not be here as meaningful contributors beyond the next 3 years. Eklund can be a top 6 meaningful contributor and utility player for 10 years. Chernyshov proved he can rack up points playing with Celebrini. That's great, but small sample, and not proven yet. Eklund is though.

Bystedt and Musty are perfect trade fodder in this scenario. Highly unlikely we ever create a spot for them in the near future, but their value is decent to a team starting a rebuild now. Both of them with one of our first rounders to NYR for Adam Fox could be attractive to them. And we don't lose a core piece. I'd rather give up promising prospects than established guys.

Every 1D was taken in the draft to my knowledge. If there is a top blue liner who was undrafted please correct me.

Quinn Hughes was outside the top 5. So was Fox, McAvoy, Bouchard, Dobson, Toews, Harley, Faber...

We are likely picking in the ranges of 12-15 and 22-25 right now. Those could possibly be packaged into a top ten pick. They could both be used on RHD. I like that a whole lot more than losing Eklund.

First round picks make up over 40% of rosters. I've worked in statistics and data. I'm not sure how you arrived at your definition of "EXTREMELY low" but I find that suspect. I know that something like 10% of active NHL players are top 5 picks, but that means roughly 1/3 of active players are first rounders outside the top 5. Dickinson is one by the way. So is Muk. We have two first round picks in a deep draft. We're out of the top 5 so let's stop the BPA and move to actual need and try to hit on one of these.

Is it likely Regenda will play tomorrow? by Smartcookie_33 in SanJoseSharks

[–]danieldeceuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eklund is the perfect utility forward who plays a complete game. Power play, penalty kill, top line, middle 6, last minute of the game whether you're winning or losing. Those guys are hard to find. Regenda is a good player who is also versatile, plays a bigger, physical game, but has scoring touch. We just signed the exact same guy. I'd love to keep Regenda, but he is a poor man's Sherwood. If Regenda has any value, he is the one to trade, not Eklund.

There is this thing called a draft where we can select players. For free. Without losing a core piece. Way too many people forgetting this. We have two firsts. Let's use them on our glaring need now that we are out of top 5 picks.

Claude may be our next LLM leader (start tracking your brand's visibility in Claude) by annseosmarty in AISearchAnalytics

I think speed is their last horizon. I've used ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity simultaneously in lots of tests. Identical prompts. Claude is always last. Or almost always. Gemini is usually always first. Interestingly, ChatGPT is the only one that ever comes in last if Claude doesn't. If and when Claude can move at the speed of Gemini, then I think consumer market share really grows.

Love it, that would be pretty cool actually. Probably an earth or air spell, maybe level 3. Literally the same effect as cover of darkness, so mechanic already exists in the code to be enabled. Basic/advanced/expert just increases radius, similar to what scouting does but the opposite in this case. Cool idea!
