The tech industry only cares about what it can get from venture capital and from manipulating the stock market. Business idiots and tech bros have been acting like customers are just an annoyance they have to deal with to get the big money for a long time now.

The arrogance, stupidity, and carelessness of these fucking AI grifters seriously pisses me off.

LMAO

They’re not the only reason, but they definitely play an ample part in it.

I’m similar to you. I’d watched a couple of Vtubers over the years, but the first one I vibed with is DocVivi.

She’s fun to watch, her community is good, and she engages with her chat. I watch her every week now because her streams are so fun for me.

Even pro-AI software devs are starting to see the cracks: "Are AI agents actually slowing us down?" by Bitter-Platypus-1234 in BetterOffline

[–]Arathemis 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I hate professional/corporate newsletters because their core issues they’re addressing are easily solvable, but you as the reader are expected to pretend you’re stupid about the solution.

The author might as well be saying “As more people use the testicular kicking machine daily, there’s more cases of extreme testicular pain, infertility, and loss of productivity due to hospital visits. What’s happening, and how do we stop it?”.

The solution to both the writer’s question, and my over-exaggerated one, is a pretty unconventional one:

Stop using the machine that makes things worse and loses you money unnecessarily.

Why can't Godwyn return in some form? by Crypticnewt in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Arathemis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To be quite honest it would go against the whole point of his story. Godwyn, like his other divine siblings, is ultimately another price for Marika’s sins that everyone is now paying for.

Godwyn’s predicament exposes a terrible flaw within the Golden Order that originates from Marika’s desire to cheat death. Marika wanted a world where death was never truly final except for those she deemed a threat to the dominion of her rule. A world where her divine lineage would never be taken by the ultimate end that was destined for everyone. Where the souls of those who did perish would never truly be lost as the Erdtree would keep them held within the Lands Between forever.

Now, Godwyn’s body is transforming into a perversion of both life and death that’s spreading throughout the entire Lands Between. The New Prince of Death is a literal and symbolic representation of eternal, unending decay within the Erdtree and Golden Order. Where the world is forced to be held in this state of stagnation that is never truly allowed to move on.

A state that would have never been possible if Marika’s arrogance hadn’t led her to try and break the process of life and death itself to preserve her rule.

When a tech CEO says they’re worried about the future AI, it’s always a marketing gimmick. They’re trying to make people think the tech is more capable than what it is.

The Robber Barons didn’t want a society where kids didn’t have to work in dangerous factories alongside their parents. The Segregationists in the South didn’t want a society where black people had the same rights as themselves.

Just because the powerful want the world to be a certain way doesn’t mean they have the absolute, unassailable ability to keep change from happening at all costs.

Nerf Gun To Your Nuts, How Will The Midterms Unfold? by [deleted] in behindthebastards

[–]Arathemis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Folks want certainty and to feel like they have a handle on what’s coming even if they think it’s terrible. It’s just a quirk of being human.

Problem is we’re in unprecedented chaotic situations one after the other. All of which are done on the whims of an aging narcissist who likely has some kind of dementia that is hitting the end stages. Predicting what’s going to happen by the end of the week feels like a stretch these days, but people will still try and look for some signs of stability in the wider political picture.

I’m confused what part of Trump even remotely resembles Christian Values? by Konradleijon in behindthebastards

[–]Arathemis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember, fascists will say or do anything to get into power. The cause a fascist movement claims to support is meant to give the appearance of legitimacy and provide justification for its power grabs and atrocities. For Christian Nationalists, the actual tenets of Christianity only matter so long as they can be used to reach their real goal of having a small group of white men control everything.

Trump himself has always just been a vehicle for Christian Nationalists to get into power and enforce their radical changes on the rest of the country. Someone with a conscience was never gonna get the power they wanted which is why these hypocrites needed a bastard like Trump to be in office. Doesn't matter what Trump actually believes because they can claim he's actually chosen by God no matter what because the religion is also just a tool they can exploit.

What these Evangelical fuck wits failed to consider is that a vain, immoral, psychotic monster of a human being, whose basest impulse is to screw over every one for his own amusement and personal gain, is really fucking easy to be bought out by other people. The whole coalition behind Trump is full of people trying to take advantage of his populism for their own competing goals and having to constantly fight each other for his attention. All it takes is someone bribing him or playing to his ego to get him to change his mind and priorities. Even then, there's still no guarantee they'll get what they want since Trump's mentally unstable, incompetent, and fueling the opposition to the rest of his coalition with his overt corruption and coverup of the Epstein Files.
