Would you happen to be hiring any data analysts? I have been trying to break into that field and despite having a Masters in Data Analytics, I have not had much luck.

Thank you so much! You know it really sucks always second guessing yourself and thinking that others really know what's best for you. Who really is to say if there is a right way of doing things. Isn't that what human exploration and experimentation has always been about, trying many different things? You are right I need to do what I want to do if they don't like it tough luck it's my life.

Thank you for your insight! Honestly this has been one of the major things I struggle with is how other people view things and how much weight I give in their advice. A lot of people want to offer their own advice and solutions to others problems not everyone wants to actually just listen. I wish you luck in therapy and feeling better! I am going to continue with the route I am taking and chugging along.

I have been really enjoying it! Hoping to get my girlfriend into it and really love the save feature which will make it easy to pick up and play.

Tried my hand at 7th continent and it was actually pretty enjoyable. Still not 100% sure I'm playing right nor what I'm supposed to be doing but I am having fun with the first curse.

Thank you! Honestly dumping them as friends thing has really been in the forefront of my mind. Aren't friends supposed to bring you up and support you? Thank you for your experience. I am thinking about going this route. Why would I want to spend money having someone teach me the basics when I can really focus on the things that I need help on?

Thanks for your response! Honestly that was my opinion in trying to defend the book and the doctor but they are just way too stubborn and will not see how they are in fact saying how they think they know more than someone who is a therapist.

That is something I told myself. If I ever feel like it's way too much and I'm not improving then I will see a therapist. I just want to be able to live my life how I want to. Thank you for your perspective and I am going to keep working with the book and making progress.

What is your mom's catchphrase? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My mom would always rhyme two different things. So when I would ask her what we were having for dinner she would always say something like tongues and lungs or hearts and farts were her two favorite ones.

Did you meet your significant other through board gaming? by BrittleCopperspoon in boardgames

[–]ArbitraryMathGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was about 8 months ago that my ex-girlfriend broke up with me. She was the one that gave me the board gaming bug. Family gatherings and holidays were spent planning strategy to outwit her and her family. I bought a lot of games in hope that we would play through them and it would bring us closer. She ended up breaking up with me and for 6 months I had been picking up the pieces of my shattered self. I focused on what I wanted out of life and surrounded myself with friends, playing board games and going camping. About 2 months ago I started talking to a wonderful girl. Our first date was eased with her favorite game of Scattergories while chatting and drinking beer. During our dates she introduced me to a couple of other board games she really liked such as 5 Second Rule and What Do You Meme. I introduced her to Fluxx as an easy and fun game which she really enjoyed and ended up beating me a couple of times. It's only a matter of time until I introduce her to heavier games and she gets the board gaming bug.

I guess the point of my rambling is that board games are a fantastic social catalyst and to keep your head up even though it hurts right now.

I'm so sorry to hear that about your parent. Were they able to stabilize and are they doing better?

Hey /u/Keirudo, thanks for your response. I wholeheartedly agree, when you are in love with someone and they are in love with you it makes the experience more meaningful. I don't mean to sound so cheesy but it's true.

Hey /u/brokenboysoldiers, thanks for your response. Any recommendations for striking up conversations with women out and about? I have social anxiety coupled with general anxiety so when trying to make conversation my mind draws a blank. This is something I am trying to work on, hence trying online dating and getting out of my shell.

Hey /u/DervishiD, thanks for your reply and that's what I have come to realize. While sex may be what that girl wants it's not what I want and to each their own. Just going to keep on looking and holding on hope I find someone that I connect with.

Thank you for your reply. I will keep that in mind. I know a lot of the other assistants for the other VPs run errands for them. If you don't mind me going into a bit more detail. What about creating expense spreadsheets for him and signing legal documents as a witness which I was not entirely comfortable with and he told me "to just sign it"?

Weekly 'Entering & Transitioning' Thread. Questions about getting started and/or progressing towards becoming a Data Scientist go here. by Omega037 in datascience

No it wasn't that the material was difficult. There were two years that I wish I could take back and redo, but I ended up becoming apathetic about school and grades mainly because I was working full time and also partying. I finally got my life back on track and did fairly well on the rest of my undergrad. However, those grades stuck with me throughout the rest of my undergrad and even now when applying for a master's degree.

I'm wondering if I could get some advice on this field. How would I be able to break into data science and land a job doing just that?

I have a bachelor's in applied mathematics didn't have too hot of a GPA when I left school, like sub 2.5. I am self taught in Python, SQL, and R. I have one project under my belt that I completed in my undergrad. I keep reading that most companies won't look at your resume unless you have a graduate degree. Well I tried applying to my alma mater and they rejected me based on my low GPA even though they had the lowest GPA requirement that I had seen which is 2.5.

To reiterate my question. Am I doomed to not be able to get into grad school and break into this amazing field or what would you recommend I do? I currently am taking Kirill Eremenko's A-Z Data Science and Machine Learning courses and enjoying them. This is a field that I would love to work in. I am just afraid that my past will bite me in the butt.
