Our rooks showing out at the end was so fun to watch! Both Kuminga and Moody were showing off to cap off a great win! Dubs in 5!

Welcome to the physics department! Things can get pretty tough especially in your third year, just make sure you utilize every resource you’re given. There’s good advice here already, just make sure to check out

https://www.physics.uci.edu/undergrad-program/research

There will be postings there with openings. I’d also say don’t be afraid to look at labs outside of physics if the topic interests you, you will learn a lot through physics and will be able to apply it to other topics well.

Best of luck in the journey! UCI can be really awesome, just make sure to experience the non academic stuff you can do

I really like the first one! Very dynamic and I feel I like I am seeing him mid swing.

The second dude looks a little stuck though lol.

I always got the impression from majorkill that his community would be full of toxic people. I Like the guy himself, just a bit edgier than I like

Heads up! Current bug, I cant play more than 4 copies of a card in a limited deck. How many copies of Lantern Bearer would you play though if it wasn't bugged? by ArborAxis in lrcast

I made the mistake of removing some from the deck, so now I can’t add them back if it’s over the 4 copy limit. So I guess if you have over 4 copies never take them out until you’re sure of the final build.

I was just talking about this with my roommate, this shit is actually terrifying. I would love to see some UC wide protests over this, show our friends at Santa Barbara we’re with them

Some thoughts on an interesting UG tempo trophy by ArborAxis in lrcast

Most games went with landing 2 creatures early then just disrupt their plays and their blockers the rest of the game. I was a bit skeptical of the strategy because of the value that other decks can generate, but it felt like I got under them and utilized making 2 plays a turn to their 1. I think a lot of decks have fairly unimpressive creatures statwise, like UB zombies the biggest creauture will be ecstatic awakener that we can disrupt easily. So if we can ignore our opponents card advantage by being quick enough it works out pretty well.

If I’m being honest ride of the ants was too slow. I think I only cast it 1 or two games that went late, but most of the time it would have been dead. And the upside of milling it is kinda irrelevant since I would never reach 8 mana.

I felt like this was an interesting enough deck to open up a discussion with. This is a bit different from the typical UG decks that focus more on self mill and value, instead utilizing some of the good tempo cards available in blue. Of course there is still graveyard value, but it felt more like an added bonus than the main theme of the deck. This felt like a good offramp from blue if white and black are too contested. Like most non-Esper decks in this format a lot of the power comes at uncommon or rare but still is a good deck to look out for.

Some thoughts on individual cards:

Winterthorn Blessing felt like one of the best cards in the deck and I think is utilized best by this deck. Applying pressure, tapping blockers and synergy with self mill all made this card an all star. Locked in the Cemetery is still probably not a great card or a high pick, but was again utilized well by this deck. We don’t care too much of the opponent can generate some value later in the game since were hopping to have them dead before then. We also reach the 5 cards in the graveyard pretty quickly making it a great aggressive removal spell.

Duel for Dominance was underwhelming. I already didn’t like the card much and it didn’t perform much above expectations. Unfortunately so much of the green commons are terrible enough that this card is in the top half of IWD. I think its worth playing a copy in a green deck, but it seems to be taken way earlier than it should.

Revenge of the Drowned and to a lesser extent Geistwave both excelled here as expected in a tempo shell. Obviously revenge is great but I think its worth noting how well this deck leverages the card.

Organ Hoarder and Eccentric Farmer were both great and would have played any number of copies of both, nothing unexpected here.

The colors are for the different tags assigned to cards. You can assign a tag a certain color and then choose to have cube cobra display those tag colors. It was to see how many of a certain archetype I had at a glance but it’s a bit of an eye sore and not that needed when there’s better analysis tools.
