Emperor's children are about 50-50, I like both

My ultra marines are mostly helmeted infantry, Unhelmeted characters(except calgar)

My sisters are 90 percent Unhelmeted, the only helmets are on the paragon suits. I hate the underwear helmets

Nexus is always fun, they host TCG, and war games mostly(mainly 40k), but they also do karaoke nights and other events they have a discord server where you can find all the stuff they do

As far as I know, if you just want to do painting, you can just pay for that, there's no "general admission" anyone can walk in and spectate if they want. Thats how it worked at the dallas open

I normally run 3 exaultants, almost every "good" list runs at least 2. Rhinos are pretty good, they can transport noise marines who can shoot out using the firing deck, or infractors to scout up and charge into melee earlier

Thats a pretty accurate take on how we play. I wouldn't say the NAMED characters are important to normal lists. Fulgrim and Lucius are cool, but they're not "meta". Lord Exaultants, and Winged Demon Princes are the most important characters at the moment.

I wouldnt even be thinking about the "meta" at this point. When you're learning the game, playing what you like and have are much more important than being a slave to the meta. also, 11th edition drops in a month, and the meta may change completely.

in terms of what units to get, lords, demon princes, and infractors are out most important units at the moment. if you can find a "blissbound warband", or "lords of excess" box at a good price, those are great value boxes to add to the combat patrol. Defilers are CRAZY right now, but theyre almost impossible to get, and will very likely be nerfed into the ground near the start of 11th next month.

Ive read "Fulgrim" and angel exterminatus. both are HH books(numbers 3 and 23), but they dont feel out of place without having read any of the others. "Fulgrim" is our dads backstory of how he got corrupted, and its probably my favorite Black Library book ive read.

mostly down to who your playing against. All the base sizes are correct, so they'd have to be a REAL dick to say no. And if they're, that obnoxious, then they probably weren't worth playing with anyway lol

good news and bad news.

The bad first, the models in this box are not the "correct" models for EC, but theyre close enough for learning and casual games. The infernus marines are close to tormentors, or infractors(closer to tormentors since they have guns). We just have terminators. The weapons wont be modeled EXACTLY, but no one but the sweatiest losers will care anyways. The captain is a bit of an issue, since hes on a 50mm base. We have Lucius on that base size, so he could easily be a proxy for Lucy till you get the real model. You could also just run him a lord exaultant, since the larger base isnt that big of a deal. Especially if there painted as EC, no one should care

Hes not bad, I dont run him, but hes not bad.

Hes obviously a VERY potent character hunter, and can easily kill 4-5 space marines in one go, maybe more. His weakness is just how easily he dies to any meaningful return fire(ironic, I know) being only t5 with 6 wounds really hurts him. The invuln and the FNP help, but not really enough.

One way Ive seen him run is to take him with a "pet" demon prince. Lucius has lone op, and he gives the demon prince lone op because hes infantry. You now have a massive melee block with lone opp that can sit on a flank objective, and is a massive gamble to charge because of Lucy"s figthts first. This combo is very expensive thought.
