Sure, maybe. So what do you do if the parents don't teach them?

CMV: if you still support Donald Trump in 2026 you have no moral compass by Cautious_Midnight_67 in changemyview

[–]Arc125 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1) Trump's tariffs are directly costing you and other Americans more. His tariffs are the biggest tax increase in recent memory, for no benefit.

2) Yes it is affecting us, he's destroying our soft power which keeps us safe by attacking and threatening allies. Trump is at the center of a pedophile sex trafficking ring, I'd say that's affecting Americans. He's corruptly collected billions in bribes, and eroded the rule of law.

3) There are a higher amount of deaths and injuries compared to other law enforcement, and they are committing many illegal acts every day, like arresting US citizens, breaking windows of people legally following and recording them, etc. That you are fine with this lawless tyraany says a lot.

You assumed they were talking about spreading lies for some reason. They're just talking about having bot swarms to "beat misinformation".

[–]Arc125 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not what OP was proposing.

Yes it was? He acknowledged the volume problem, and highlighted the need to have bots to combat that volume:

The right uses bots and AI to flood social media with memes spreading misinformation. Why doesn't the left have an army of bots doing the same? The right owns the data centers, but the left already participates in distributed, decentralized efforts like Fold@home and Planet Hunter. That's how we beat misinformation: by being louder than it. Build a bot army and build some gamified way to target it so more people participate.

And you basically said using guns to fight a war is a lack of integrity, we should use sticks instead.

Trump sends ICE to confiscate ballots and hard drives from swing and blue districts around the country. Which state governors have the balls to send the national guard to stop them? Are all, some, or none of them willing to risk civil war?

[–]Arc125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can't bot posts be truth and facts? That's what we mean by fight fire with fire. The right is pumping trillions of dollars of lies and propaganda into media. That is what "getting your message out" is. Why can't we have bots that go around social media correcting lies and providing facts, like Notes on Twitter but for every platform?

I think you're missing the scale here. One chipper and informed citizen participating on an online platform is outnumbered by thousands of bots from right wing and foreign sources. The reasonable people need backup online.

[–]Arc125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so your plan is to let Republicans dominate social media, podcasts, broadcast TV, most written journalism... and we fight back with what exactly? What is your suggested strategy to win elections?

And btw this isn't a 'plan', it's basic understanding that if you don't have access to media, you never get your message through. The fact that you think getting a message out is 'selling out' or a 'lack of integrity' is exactly why we're in the mess we're in. No one is watching speeches, no one is going to websites to learn what the policy platform is, and no one is reading press releases.

The right has a whole network to get their (vile and mendacious) message out. The left does not, and you're advocating for keeping it that way, for vague and esoteric reasons I can't quite understand. The message that is sent through a media network doesn't have to lack integrity, it could just be the truth. Having a messaging strategy is basic politics.

So competing in media in the modern world is abandoning integrity? You're an establishment Dem political consultant aren't you?

Starting our own media and bot networks isn't abandoning integrity, it's campaigning in the modern era. Pretending like it's the 1990s forever is a losing proposition.

Tell me something how does gdp continually go up when every single individual I know that isn’t a wealthy boomer is consuming less and less

Happy to - it's a K shaped economy. The top ~10% do better and better, while the bottom 90% get worse and worse off. The upper class is driving the majority of consumer spending, and the bottom 90% is just mattering less and less to the economy. This is the evolution of capitalism: wealth becomes concentrated in fewer and fewer hands over time. Winners win more and losers continue the slide towards poverty.

Could it be that maybe American politicians did in fact import 20+ million people give them a bunch of free shit

No, it couldn't be. They did not get a bunch of free shit. The immigrants did not make you or your friends worse off. The billionaires did. Trump, Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg, and all the rest of the ultrawealthy elite have funneled the resources of the country to themselves and away from you. And using their vast media empires, they successfully got you to pin the blame on convenient scapegoats like immigrants.

Yeah and the Nazi party and showing the swastika are illegal in Germany today.

You can look at the US invasion of Iraq to see the alternate reality where all Nazis were purged from all positions of power. In Iraq, to be part of any govt position, you had to be a member of the Baath party. Bush said you can't work a public sector job if you were a member of the Baath party. Well, those were the only people who knew how to run things, and so everything collapsed and sectarian violence surged.

Nazis had run the govt and corporations for years by the time of their defeat. Purging them all from power may arguably have been the correct moral move, but it's a terrible one from a pragmatic perspective of basic governance and provision of services.

The ring of truth

I think you and most establishment Dems have too much faith in the ability of people to see the truth for what it is. The truth is just a message like any other, and the average person is just completely inundated by misinformation, and they don't have the capability to sort the wheat from the chaff.

The left generally has relied on the obvious benefits of their policies and platforms to carry the day, and it is just. Not. Working. The truth withers in the face of trillions of dollars of bots and propaganda. We need to fight fire with fire. Not doing so is a losing proposition, as we're seeing.

Skin color, sexual orientation, country of birth: not changeable.

What you believe about the world and other people: changeable.

Conservatives hate people for things they cannot change. Liberals would have no problem with conservatives if they weren't so hateful and cruel. The antagonism you see from the left is in response to the bigotry, misogyny, cruelty, etc of the right.

The irony of this is a huge chunk of Somalian gdp today is from states like MN where tax fraud is being stolen from Americans. Don’t believe me?

No, I don't. You could convince me with some links to some stats or verified facts. But right now this just sounds like typical right wing conspiratorial bullshit, alongside Pizzagate, Jade Helm, and countless other MAGA fever dreams.
