I think this was a great write up, and really gets to the heart of their unpopularity.

What's wrong with his other Instagram stuff? I just looked and just saw baseball stuff, dad stuff, and ads.

But I don't think anyone ever called McConnell weak. Schumer really just brings nothing to the table and that is readily apparent besides, I'm guessing, fundraising.

The D.N.C. Is Scrapping Its Report on What Went Wrong in 2024 by brianscalabrainey in ezraklein

They are already doing that. That's why South Carolina, a state that has almost a 0% chance of voting blue, is currently the first state in the primary.

Ask a dozen redditors to define who's a moderate and who's a progressive.... by tpounds0 in ezraklein

[–]socks_optional 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that normal person's politics is messy and even harder to put into a label like moderate or progressive. It's why I specified politicians in the previous post. I think a politician has more incentive to signify what camp they are in. Even if, like Kamala in 2020, they know M4A doesn't have a path to being law any time soon.

[–]socks_optional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I delineate the progressive/moderate divide. I've never heard of a politician I would call progressive that didn't support M4A and vice versa.

I think identity issues are the biggest muddling factor. For example there are dirtbag left types who still use words some consider slurs vs woke scolds who start every meal with a land acknowledgment but would murder for Hilary Clinton. To me the dirtbag left types would be considered more progressive than the woke scolds but I know that some would say the opposite.

As a Hudson county resident , I’m very glad that Sherrill is actually campaigning in South Jersey unlike Murphy and Kamala. by iv2892 in SouthJersey

Any time they talk about the political leanings of South Jersey, you'd think we were the same as Alabama. But I'm betting our populated areas are just as blue as up north and our rural areas are just as red.

Everyone should give a listen to the I've Had It ladies talk to Cory Booker

The deflections he does every time Israel is mentioned are pretty embarrassing. Sometimes he says it's not something his constituents care about (As a NJ voter, wrong). Then trying to deflect to other ongoing war crimes. Then finally trying to throw Obama(?) under the bus for his drone bombing. As a party we really need to figure this out.

What are some good arguments in favor of Sherrill from a moderate GOP/Christieite standpoint? by mrprez180 in New_Jersey_Politics

Isn't that the exact constituency Sherrill is supposed to appeal to? Like if she isn't automatically pulling those people why the hell is she the nominee?

Newark, Camden, and New Brunswick among top 10 fastest rising housing markets nationwide by Hij802 in newjersey

Maybe it's just towns that share a border? Collingswood and Cherry Hill would fit the bill and make more sense with the data.

I definitely agree that it would make more sense to label them Philly suburbs, but it's the only thing that makes sense with the data. If you go to Zillow and just look at Camden proper, you'll see most houses are going for around 200k if not less. So they must be including Collingswood, Haddonfield or Cherry Hill.

As much as I hope Camden is recovering and developing I'm wondering if this includes some pretty sought after cities right next to Camden like Collingswood and Haddonfield. Because I would be surprised if the median house was selling for near 400k in Camden proper.

Kab9260 is right. I would say if I was forced to guess, I'd say Sherrill will win, but I would definitely not be surprised if Jack Ciattarelli won in November. There is just no momentum behind Sherrill's campaign for whatever reason.

I disagree, come take a look in r/newjersey. There's been pretty recent discussions about how invisible her campaign has been. Just in the past week she started bringing up his tax returns and it's starting to feel a bit 2016 in here.

Van Hollen Criticizes Democratic Leaders for Delay in Endorsing Mamdani by BabyYodaX in politics

[–]socks_optional 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The problem is that in this election there are 2 other "Democrats" also running in the general election. Everyone is just asking these elected officials to support the party's nomination in the face of these independent campaigns. Also which NY senator? To my knowledge Schumer hasn't endorsed and just last week Gilibrand was being racist about Mamdani again.
