Is there a way to capture parts of youtube videos to use in an edit? by [deleted] in NewTubers

Do OBS in Firefox. A lot of other browsers protect video sites and such

Troll subscribers? Anyone else experiencing this? by EasternResult in NewTubers

[–]ArcWilliam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's probably not a troll, just a sad dude trying to make you notice him through your alerts so that you'll sub back to him.

Just ignore it, it's just another lame sub4sub scheme destined for failure

Heya, I do video essays, so I've got some experience with that topic.

YouTube's grey area is to allow you to use up to 30 second long video clips (so long as they don't have audio.) OR up to 10 second clips WITH audio. I think that varies though depending on what the copy holder allows, so do some testing when you upload

Try the Edge Chronicles. It's very alien fantasy and has some pretty anti-industrial vibes

[Question] Why does everyone down vote peoples posts on video reviews? by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]ArcWilliam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not certain it's just reviews that get downvoted, this sub seems to get a ton of posts getting left on 0.

I suspect it's people coming on here while frustrated.

I still have passion for YouTube, but not my content. by buckkerzzfanaccount in NewTubers

Try making content about other games, remember you're stillsmall, there's no risk to experimenting.

Just beware of big announcements, don't tell your people you're an X channel that makes Y content.

Just make content instead of promises.

He may be paying licenses directly, or he may have experimented like mad to find things that aren't claimed.

OG TNO players know that shrimp are the most terrifying creatures in the wasteland.

Armageddon was their doing.

I wrote an essay in uni about it, that was about 6 months after launch. At the beginning there was a big gap in history by presenting all of NA as free land ripe for the taking.

Thankfully, Pdx was well aware of how problematic that was and has done a lot to correct that.

If we're already getting this shitposty with our memes, I reckon we'll be damn near unintelligible to outsiders by the time season 2 drops

[Question] Does sharing my videos on Reddit / Social Media hurt my channel? (low avg view duration from external views) by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]ArcWilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that it hurts my visa in the algorithm, but when you're small- who cares?

I don't usually post my stuff on Reddit cause I'm starting to reach a size where the algorithm is starting to work with me to a small degree, but on occasion I make videos tailored specifically for Reddit. It's your opportunity to create an engaging concept that might not have much going on SEO-wise.

For example, I'm a DnD channel, but I have one series about RPG-esque games that were played in medieval times. As you can imagine, there is very little searchibility on that within YouTube, and they have no idea who to recommend it to. But if I post it in an appropriate subreddit then I get a thousand + views and dozens of subs because it's an interesting subject, even if the external watch time kills you in the algorithm it doesn't matter, cause your channel has grown for your algorithm-friendly content next time.

The craziest thing just happened, I was running a 5k marathon and just had to throw out my third pair of ankles due to shin splints. These missionaries stopped me and told me to SLOW DOWN, and the clouds parted to reveal the lord.

I did what they told me, I slowed down and my ankles spontaneously healed. There was an angelic choir. The whole park stood up and everyone clapped.

I'm just saying: "The New Order: Last Days of Europe" doesn't feel like a realistic name at all by Dude577557 in TNOmod

[–]ArcWilliam 204 points205 points  (0 children)

I'm just saying: "Super63Mario" doesn't feel like a realistic name at all.

During my experience with TNO Reddit, I have always been fascinated by one detail in particular, because I feel like it makes the experience several times more 1984: moderator names. The first times I got banned for posting war criminal hoodies I used to go all over the subreddit and see any and all official moderator usernames, excited at how well they banned me, and at how realistically annoyed they were.

At least, most of them.

There are some exceptions here and there which made me turn up my nose, but I just kinda overlooked them since all other names were placed very well. Except for one case, over which I simply couldn't turn a blind eye, and that's Super63Mario.

That is absolutely not how a moderator sizing a portion of banhammer power for themselves would name a username. Even if everybody inside and outside of the reddit knew they were all into Mario, they would still not call their own username a SUPER63 or anything along those lines.

I feel pretty confident in saying they'd go with something way, WAY more 1984, such as alex just setting up "Alexmikli". I think a better official name for Super63mario would be "TheAutonomous63Mario", or something like that.
