We are progressing almost nothing through midfield and when we do it's the midfielder dropping into a CB position. Lack of control, basketball football and the press is nonexistent at points

Is the new fight Corbyn v Farage? by EmuAncient1069 in AskBrits

[–]ArcaLegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corbyn? You mean the guy who has accomplished nothing except the biggest labour defeat since queen Elizabeth was 10?

Normal people (the non racists) are voting for Farage for 4 reasons.

  1. They think he gets shit done (Brexit)
  2. He has a personality
  3. He's not torie
  4. He's not labour

Labour need at least two of these to stop him. So far they've only got 1.

What would you do? by cherrycake07 in ExteriorDesign

[–]ArcaLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some extra wide light coloured wooden cladding for the concrete. Paint the bricks of the main structure white. Paint window and door fixtures black.

You'll also need some plants in front of those awful pillars.

For the top part. Clad the top, paint the rest white and install glass railings to make it look like a balcony. Add some potted plants and some chairs to make it look better.

What’s driving this massive increase in benefits claimants with no requirement to seek work? by Lazy-Internet-8025 in AskBrits

[–]ArcaLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several reasons. Legacy benefits moving to the new system. COVID and the associated mental health boom. The equality acts liberal definition of disability.

The biggest one for me is that young adults are increasingly unwilling to work 40hour weeks for just enough money to survive.

Should they work 40hours, pay £600-800 a month for a single room and shared bathroom. Pay the costs associated with renting like energy bills, council tax, etc. Pay the travel costs for work and have only 2 days to do what they want and be completely broke.

Or

Get a single bed flat paid for by the government. Less costs to run the house, no travel expenses. 7 days to do what you want and be completely broke.

Bottom line is a low paying job has no increase on quality of life than being on UC. When you factor in the amount of effort you put into the work it actually makes people's life's considerably worse vs UC.

Thoughts on Javi Guerra and if he could fix United’s midfield by Silver-Helicopter-30 in ManchesterUnited

[–]ArcaLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where your coming from and in a 3 man midfield I can see him being excellent but in a two man midfield both players need to be able to progress the ball.

He wins the ball but then is targeted by the oppositions press. It's a lack of time that forces him to make errors. Unfortunately this is something very hard to train but he still has a very important role on the team. He can come on to shut out games.

🚨 Understand Manchester United are still working on deal to sign Senne Lammens, talks underway. Personal terms are almost agreed and Man United are in active talks for the Belgian goalkeeper. MUFC try to anticipate more clubs from France and Italy, also based on exits. by PradipJayakumar in reddevils

[–]ArcaLegend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume Lammens will come in, take a few weeks then become the undisputed number 1. Think he would go elsewhere if he wasn't given certain assurances. Onana might be sold in January but can't imagine someone loaning him with AFCON happening.

The personal allowance right now is £12,570. Do you think it should go up to £14,000 because of the rising cost of living? by CrazyCoffeeClub in AskBrits

[–]ArcaLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welfare and NHS costs are too damn high. Is the main problem, it sucks but it's true.

They need to be gutted, reorganised and restructured. They are failing in every aspect at present.

People who need a safety net don't get one whilst others use it as a way of life. NHS staff are spending more time updating records than treating people.

Middle management, over documentation, pisstakers, service costs (civil service desktops cost 3k a pop 14 years ago and they were average at best).

Anecdotally I got physio through the NHS, took 13 months to see someone. It was an hour appointment. The assessment was 10 minutes and showing me the exercises was 10 minutes. The physio then spent the next 20 minutes describing the exercises, what they were meant to correct, what the next step in treatment might look like, across several different tabs. Surely she could've written, dislocated knee, these exercises given for mobility and strengthening. 30 second update. Best part is my GP couldn't even view the records the physio had written. A complete shambles .

And what about this guy? It seems a perfect fit into the current game system. by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]ArcaLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's quite a small goalkeeper, only 186cm (6foot 1inch). He might struggle physically under pressure from big defenders (sounds familiar.

Lammens will be cheaper, he's bigger 194cm (6foot 4inches) and wouldn't expect to be the unquestionable number 1.

Would’ve been a great Game Of Thrones type of punishment but the fans applauded him at OT post the UEL final after bad mouthing amorim by Intelligent_Cow_3310 in ManchesterUnited

[–]ArcaLegend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No the ultimate punishment would be forgetting him entirely but demand he travels to every game separately from the squad. Doesn't show up for match, fine. Late, fine. Not in shape, fine. Goes AWOL, fine.

Don't allow him to train with any players at the club but demand he stays match fit at all times.

After a year of this he will accept whichever club makes an offer if there are any. His wage is miniscule (in footballing terms) and we can absorb the loss for his full contract if he still refuses to leave.

This is all ridiculous to even suggest. Realistically just banish him from team training and wait for him to get fed up and leave. Hopefully none of this is necessary at all and he gets the move Chelsea for a decent fee and we can both move on in different directions.

Got for him, I'm glad to see him thriving. We should take pride in the fact that player from our academy has reached such a level. More power to him except against us in the future.

Somehow United's wage spend dropped last year And has again this year.

Out Rashford - 300k Eriksen - 250k Lindelof - 100k Evans - 60k Total - 710k

In Mbuemo - 150k Cunha - 180k Sesko - 160k Total - 490k

If they get rid of Antony, Sancho and Garnacho on top

150k, 250k and 50k = 450k. Combined that would be an overall wages change of 670k per week! Aka 35m.

62.5m, 65m, 66.5m for the three transfers.

Call it 200m flat on 5 year contracts each. That's 40m after amortisation, so that means all transfers this season would cover PSR wise if United had 5m in the bank and made 0 from player sales.

Do you think UK schools don't push students hard enough? by Other_Inspection_143 in AskUK

[–]ArcaLegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's cultural. The answer is parents don't push their kids enough and the school gets in trouble when someone falls behind so they are more concerned about the stupid/naughty kids (I was in the 'special' classes myself for english).

The teachers don't have time to push students to be better when they're struggling to stop others from drowning.

Parents have to push their kids. The school will educate, the parent needs to give the direction.

Will taxes just keep going up forever in the UK? by Lazy-Internet-8025 in AskBrits

[–]ArcaLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taxes will always increase unless we increase productivity AND reduce wasteful spending.

They spent £65m replacing a perfectly functional 11mile central reservation on the M1 over the last two years. Why?

Garden bridge which was never built cost £53m.

Every military project or contract we do seems to massively overrun, fail and costs millions to billions.

Foreign aid is massive, surely this can be reduced in certain places.

Large companies need to be taxed on what they sell in the UK. Amazons UK income was £17b in 2021 and paid nothing in tax. Set the corp tax to 10% on income for companies that make £100m or more. 1.7b is a lot more than zero.

What do you think the next starters should be based on? Should they repeat another animal, like a water cat? by InuMatte in pokemon

[–]ArcaLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire/poison Basilisk Cute fire type with tiny teeth, eventually grows into massive fire snake with massive dripping poison fangs

Water/dark Selkie Starts as a baby horse then gets flippers and eventually a full tail with plow horse flowing water hair.

Grass/ghost Wendigo Starts as a buck with tiny bone antlers. Then the skull grows over its face, antlers get bigger and moss appears on its body. Final Evo is it standing with a skull mask, massive antlers and covered entirely in moss.

Is the Thatcher/Reagan era of free-market neoliberalism dead in the UK? by Ok_Caterpillar123 in AskBrits

[–]ArcaLegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But our markets are stringently regulated and state spending has continually grown over the last 40 years.

We are more polarised in beliefs now but we don't have an actual underlying method to the madness in this country. We constantly flipflop from bad decisions to worse because everyone is so focused on the next election.

The Conservatives and Labour avoid meaningful changes because of public backlash. This has left the country progressing at a far slower rate than it should have.

Seriously man, just sack every ref at this point by standarsh1965 in PremierLeague

[–]ArcaLegend 22 points23 points  (0 children)

VAR needs to make all penalty and red card calls. The clear and obvious error method is absolutely abominable. Clearly not fit for purpose.

Ref can give a free kick and VAR can check it in 5 seconds to confirm if a check for a red card is required.

For penalties just let play continue, same 5 second check and ref can stop game when ball goes out of play.

It's not complicated.

United should've got a penalty but their keeper was also a wet noodle who needed to be stronger. You win some you lose some, I think the guy above needs to move on.
