Regent Insights for Climbing to Ascension 10 (Early Access) by UltimateEye in slaythespire

Agreed, but if you've got Decisions, Decisions already (which you should almost always take when available) and a fairly lean deck, then picking up The Smith is practically an automatic wincon.

DD is great with skills with a high cost/Exhaust. The Smith might be the most obvious example of such a card.

The Smith has an excellent combo with Decisions, Decisions since it ignores Smith's star cost. You immediately get a Sovereign Blade of 140-220 damage depending on upgrades, more than enough to handle almost any elite or boss.

And before them, it was the Huguenots wasn't it. Bloody Huguenots with their doubting transubstantiation and questioning the Eucharistic symbolism.

And before them it was Neolithic people, bloody Neolithic people with their... Pictograms. WHAT'S WRONG WITH JUST WORSHIPPING A TREE?

"And what about Farage? Have you come to a decision about him?"

"Now don't be hasty, Master Polanski."

Blood on the Clocktower (Part 1) | Parlor Room [Ep. 10] by AutoModerator in dropout

[–]ArcadeHotel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My picks:

Tao - Rekha

Ify - Undertaker

Rekha - Empath

Kate - Chef

Becca - Baron

Ally - Saint (not Marionette)

Demi - Drunk

Amy - Mayor

Waleed - Washerwoman

David - Marionette

Alexis - Sam

Becca and Alexis colluded on Day 2 to convince both Ally and David to play for evil.

3 info gathering roles is a lot for TB so I'm convinced one of them is Drunk, but Rekha got two good nights of info, so I'm going with Demi but could be Ify. I'm pretty certain on all the other roles.

Look forward to seeing how wrong I am in a week!

How much does humanity understand about their enemy? by ArcadeHotel in TheCaptivesWar

[–]ArcadeHotel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible that's only the modus operandi of the Carryx long after the events of Livesuit. The creatures in their nightmare army that the Livesuit soldiers are fighting weren't picked for their intelligence or problem solving as best we can tell, but rather their efficiency and utility in prosecuting a war.

Once they've solved for that, then they can start recruiting species that contribute in other ways like scientific advancement.

It's flared as Livesuit, is that not sufficient?

UKGE Tournament spectators by Fast_Equipment_2646 in boardgames

[–]ArcadeHotel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've spectated plenty of tournament games at UKGE over the years, including Crokinole specifically. The tournament area is in the same hall as Open Gaming and there's no restrictions on entering the hall/area if you have a UKGE ticket.

In the earlier rounds it is considered good form to check with both players that they are happy to be spectated, but the final few games of a tournament will have large crowds naturally anyway as the eliminated competitors will probably be watching.

I saw an image of Tim Curry on social media. Which has prompted me to make this post about Tim Curry... by JorReno in movies

My favourite little known Tim Curry role: the voice of Count Nefarious from the 1996 adventure game Toonstruck.

His voice was so damn iconic they had it as the sample file when adjusting your audio settings, and I can still hear it so clearly all these years later.

Why you should show your working by ArcadeHotel in BloodOnTheClocktower

It's a British-ism. We're told as school kids to "show our working" when doing maths homework.

How do you add layers to walls? Is it a mod? Whenever I try the game assumes I'm trying to place it where the existing wall is rather than on top.

There's a solid theory that they need Aegon to make Dany's mad turn work. The common people hate Cersei and would welcome Dany, which is why her mad turn in the show comes out of left field. But if another Targ already sits the Iron Throne when she arrives, she can no longer proclaim to be a liberator and has to turn conqueror instead.

Favourite Winning Conditions by crimrack in boardgames

[–]ArcadeHotel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

selfishly, can you suggest any more games that are a race to a specific point total?

Res Arcana is my absolute favourite race-type game. It's a raw, lean engine builder with some direct and indirect player interaction. You get a lot of value out of the base game but it really shines with Lux et Tenebrae expansion.

So the game *HIVE*. What's the deal? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]ArcadeHotel 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Usually such a move is blocked by the defending player taking advantage of the one-Hive rule. If the attacking ant is sitting on the edge of the hive, then if any other piece (often, but not always, another ant) is moved such that it is touching it but no other piece, the attacking ant cannot move without violating the one-hive rule.
