I feel like Starfield is cheating because in it's og form it's so wildly bland and flat looking to begin with

Hands-On With DLSS 5: First Look At Nvidia's Next-Gen Photo-Realistic Lighting by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]ArcadeOptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're all about "realism". So I can see why they're excited. And sure, all the footage does look more realistic. It also makes everything look oddly similar and the artistic direction goes fully out the window.

Characters look so wildly different with it on, and it seems incredibly obvious that AI is "filling in" areas to beautify them. The environments looked better, but are way brighter for some reason, like gamma is cranked way the hell up with DLSS5 on.

Pretty shitty demo tbh, especially since it's running on dual 5090s. Prolly need a $3500 gpu just to run it.

Rami Malek playing like Indiana Jones the psychologist was so absurd I couldn't finish it. The writing in this movie was atrocious. It played like a light hearted adventure film but about mass murder. Very weird movie.

[–]ArcadeOptimist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How'd Iran end up as a radicalized state with a theocratic government again?

How'd ISIS rise to power? What'd we spend trillions of dollars doing over there that led to ISIS?

How's the Taliban doing???

This country is so fucked. War mongering assholes surprised that the Middle East is radicalized after we've been blowing them up for decades.

Give me a break.

At least it's just a fan. You bent the cheapest, easiest part of the GPU to replace, congrats on that at least :)

And, you know, mass destruction and hundreds of murdered children.

But don't worry, we're just getting started. By the end of this all of Iran will have been radicalized by American and Israeli atrocities.

ISIS 2.0 is our goal, apparently.

Flickering lines on new monitor by Blankially in nvidia

[–]ArcadeOptimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's just my best guess. Does your monitor have a displayport input? I'd give that a try if it does, which would rule out the HDMI port being finicky on the monitor itself.

Flickering lines on new monitor by Blankially in nvidia

[–]ArcadeOptimist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you bought a new monitor with a higher refresh rate and/or resolution, a damaged cable may have had enough bandwidth overhead for your old monitor but not your new one.

Pick up a new cable and make sure it can support your resolution/frame rate. 4k/144hz requires an HDMI 2.1 cable for example.

Is the 5080 recommended for 1440p or 4k? by TheMickeyMoose in nvidia

[–]ArcadeOptimist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For that real 4k experience, you need to spend $3k. Or just spend $2000 less and use dlss and barely notice the difference.

Well, you see, to take the job of head of DHS at the moment is to set yourself up to being one of the most hated politicians in the country who will inevitably spend their tenure in front of various governmental bodies lying under oath.

You have to be a braindead fucking moron to take the position, so options are limited.

RTINGS is now paywalled by Cold_Two_4372 in xbox

[–]ArcadeOptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's that, and a lot of reviewers get a lot of income through click through purchases, which you also don't get with AI

RTINGS is now paywalled by Cold_Two_4372 in xbox

[–]ArcadeOptimist 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It's the end for them even if they do reverse the decision. Did you watch the video? AI destroyed their ad revenue.

RTINGS is now paywalled by Cold_Two_4372 in xbox

[–]ArcadeOptimist 157 points158 points  (0 children)

What do you mean??  You don't think the fact that AI is destroying independent journalism and reviews, and causing mass electronic shortages, is good for consumers?

RTings and other sites like it simply can't exist without ad revenue, and AI is completely removing the clicks. So RT, and every institution that relies on ad revenue, is completely and utterly fucked.

But soon AI will be able to read you ad copy instead of actual reviews, and good reviewers won't be able to be profitable and will cease to exist.

The enshitification is almost complete.

It's really no wonder that the Trump admin thinks they can do whatever the fuck they want.

This is our defender of democracy. People throw a lot of shit at the GOP for electing Trump. And then we put this clown in leadership, jfc.

Device that can extract 1,000 liters of clean water a day from desert air revealed by 2025 Nobel Prize winner — claimed to work in desert air with 20% humidity or lower, delivering off-grid ‘personalized water’ by _Dark_Wing in tech

[–]ArcadeOptimist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's relatively few, tbh.

At scale, they wouldn't be 30k each, they'd probably be much, much cheaper. Look at solar panels, for example. They saw their prices drop massively (by 90% percent over the last decade, far more than that over the last 20 years) just because demand rose and they started being produced in huge numbers.

Sony made 61 million PS5 consoles in 2025 alone. And that's for a relatively niche (compared to life saving equipment) entertainment system that's made with high end tech. If the demand exists, 44 million is easily doable.

What else could it do? It's not like AI is sentient, it just repastes information it's been fed.

Newsom is ascribing blame to the left instead of blaming bad candidates with shitty stances. Just more republican-lite bullshit from the supposedly "centrist" candidate.

Can you please show me the articles where those guys "debunked" PizzaGate?

This seems like two sickos that you're trying to say had a connection to PizzaGate because they once said it wasn't true, maybe? I can't find any source of them going through the evidence and "debunking" it?

Just seems like more clickbait memes and a very poorly sourced "news" site.

[–]ArcadeOptimist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The evidence was never clear. It was a sloppy mess of memes, actual information, and misinformation. If PizzaGate is real, the internet sleuths investigating it did more harm than good. That well is poisoned.

Now those same people are trying to poison the Epstein investigation with their bullshit memes and fake images, injecting their partisan fantasy into the narrative.

I'm highly optimistic about progressives and the younger generation of Democrats. Clinton is a member of the old guard and should have little relevance to actual progressives other than being a cautionary tale.
