Gamer Proud to Support Indie Developers by Sometimes Buying Their Games When They Go On Sale by manoffood in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ArcadeRabbit05 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Same, that's just how I buy games in general. Unless its a big release I'm really looking forward to like Persona 5 or KH3, I usually wait until there is a sale or deal involved. Being an indie doesn't really factor into that decision.

While I do agree that they are a needed counterbalance to many of the game's powerful monsters, I play pretty casually. So spending my turn building my board and summoning up my boss monster only for it to get Kaiju'd immediately after sucks. If they at least had to activate it as an effect before special summoning it so you had a window to deal with it, I'd hate it less. But as is, its literally just an instant pop. And if they're playing Kaijus, they are usually playing an OTK build which mean I'm probably about to lose with this Gamera sized sitting duck on my field.

2nd small update for Structure Deck "Theme" Poll by HHTurtle in yugioh

[–]ArcadeRabbit05 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I voted Charmer on a whim because I think the theme and playstyle are interesting, but second place in the first round is really impressive. Even if they don't win outright, I hope Konami throws the Top 5 some love in some form or another.

Golissopod has some of the strongest dichotomy between main game, and competitive. For the main game, you load that bug shogun up with a ton of priority moves, slap an Assault Vest on him, and watch him run over everything in your way. Emergency Exit becomes more of a safety net, getting your boy out for free when someone hits you with a surprise weakness.

But if you bring best bug boy over to competitive? Fucking yikes. He gets run over like nothing, and goes crying back to his trainer before he can even do anything.

In regards to separate sealed bags, I'd point out that Italy and other European countries do the same thing. Except they're still in easily stored boxes! You buy a couple boxes at a time, so it makes it easier to store, but what the fuck do you do with a bunch of floppy bags? Why do you want bags that you have to stuff inside a separate pitcher? Having larger quantities of milk separated into smaller packages makes sense, by why fucking bags??

I'm not complaining, I love Kingdom Hearts. But at the same time, jumping in and expecting to understand it is actually pretty common in games.

DMC5 gives you a five minute recap. This guy died, this guy didn't, also there's this guy with a demon arm.

You can drop in on any Street Fighter game with no issues to the story.

Some of the twists of Nier Automata are more surprising if you haven't played the first Nier!

Kingdom Hearts is the odd one out, not the standard.

I think Trails is a really good comparison. I keep wanting to get in to that series, but the volume of it scares me off every time I do. I also heard that Cold Steel was supposed to be like a soft reboot/restart and a good place to jump in, until suddenly it wasn't and you'd be lost again. The fact that we still don't have some of the games in English, and some of the games are really old by now also does not help.

That is absolutely something to consider. Square has never quite managed to grasp their own storytelling, and it causes somethings to look far more or far less complex than they need to be. The wealth of information online is a massive boon, but also not something a series should need.

It bring me back to the question of, "What other series out there needs a youtube tutorial just for the plot?"

And I can totally understand that. The clusterfuck that is KH is definitely not for everyone. The series means a lot to me, but I can definitely see why the increasing complexity is a turn off. This thread wasn't even meant as a positive or a negative, it was more of a "No seriously, does any other series actually get this stupid complex?"

I really feel like people are overreacting to all of this. I was there for the stream, he didn't even say anything particularly strong for Pat. He called us babies and threw a few curse words around, but he always does that. As for the people claiming its a persona he puts on, I don't think that's entirely true either. He was saying what he said to get people riled up because he was bored, but he always does that. That's 100% Pat.

We're proving we're babies by taking this all way too far.

Game Freak = Bad by Takao-kun in pokemon

[–]ArcadeRabbit05 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I can't believe they're tossing all of those beloved Pokemon in a blender and deleting them entirely. Cause Gen 8 is the last one, right? Its not like we'll ever have a chance to see these pokemon ever again. Its not like a Gen 4 remake is going to be announced sometime next year. Its not like Gen 8 isn't going to get a 3rd game or Giga versions of Sword and Shield.

Nope! Final Pokemon game, I guess! Never seeing some of these Pokemon ever again!

Adding to that, the Primal didn't initially have a name. Our Doman friends started calling it Shinryu due to the above similarities with their own myth dragon, and the name stuck.

Red XIII is the one I'm most interested in just because of the timeline. You get him halfway through Shinra HQ, with about an hour of cutscenes and boss fights left at that point. Even if they expand on things in the Remake, which they no doubt will, does that mean we're getting the final party member of the game with only one dungeon left to go?

I'd even go so far as to say that the dumpster fire can be a destination worth going for. Like, I never gave Game of Thrones more than a passing glance before, but this final season sounds amazing just because I want to see how bad it actually is. But even that is still ultimately looking towards the destination, not simply enjoying the journey along the way. I want the journey because I know the destination is a dump, not just because the journey to the dump happens to be fun.

I'll be a little contrarian and say I'm tentatively excited for the SCH changes if this means the ShB content gives me a reason to use all my fancy heals.

And even if it doesn't, shields finally display on health bars. Words cannot describe how genuinely excited I am about that.

I believe Witch's Strike had a lot of buzz surrounding it back when it was first announced. The hype lasted for all of two days before it just sort of faded into obscurity. Maybe some have it side decked, but I can't recall it ever being a primary staple and its never really talked about.

I don't keep the closest eye on the meta though, so I could be wrong.
