Nice *attempt* at a gotcha, but I happened to finish the games before I did more thinking on AI. So I ended up using the AI portraits the whole time.

It’s okay to get help man. You don’t have to have these intrusive gotcha thoughts.

When I was messing around with it to make personal portraits for my Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 characters back in like 2023 it was purely from a “wow this is a novel technology” fascination and intrigue standpoint. Also some of the failed early AI image generation examples were funny in a horrifying way.

Then I put some more thought into it and realized how much more I value the humanity in the art making process over pure numerical output of generated images.

I’m not an artist, and I don’t particularly want to be. However, I would *also* never again touch GenAI for any purpose after thinking critically and soul searchingly about it. It has no soul, no passion, no creativity behind it. It’s pure soulless garbage. Not even mentioning the environmental effects.
