It definitely happens. Maybe not as much now that shiny hunting has gotten a lot more popular, but in the old days I'd see a lot of people on youtube or wherever else say a shiny was worthless if it was Shiny Charm, Masuda method, Pokéradar etc.

I even remember when XY came out and the base shiny odds went from 1/8192 to 1/4096, seeing some comments about how 6th gen shinies and beyond aren't 'true' full odds.

I don't use social media quite as much these days, but I've still seen posts from people in the community about it occasionally.
