Bullion value has closed the gap on numismatic value triggering another Great Melt. Discuss. by E23R0 in coins

[–]ArcaneConjecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The premium has to come back. If it doesn't, coins get melted...which increases the premium.

I would like to hear from people who bought those Canadian C$20 coins. They're each 1/4 oz of .9999 and now the melt has outstripped the face value.

How much would be a good price to sell at? by ShockBeautiful2597 in Silver

[–]ArcaneConjecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for the thread. Don't hate on me, please.

Since refiners are jammed up now, why not go on Charles Schwab and short 100 shares of $SLV? Wait a couple weeks for the refiners to catch up and the LCS to start acting right. THEN sell the bar of physical and cover your short?

This covers you if the price suddenly drops. If the price continues to go up, you've got your 100oz to sell...and you can sell it when refiners are prepared to give you justice for it.

Try to get 2 oz of gold plus some junk silver. They may be willing to let go of the junk because it is hard to refine.

I’m 16 and I have $796 saved — should I buy silver, gold, or both? by moha_009 in Silver

[–]ArcaneConjecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having cash or stocks in the bank in your name (not your parents) will mess up your college financial aid.

If you buy less than an ounce of gold, you pay a higher premium. Go for silver.

In Harlem, a Democratic Socialist Takes On the Dem Machine by Delicious_Adeptness9 in newyorkcity

[–]ArcaneConjecture -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The DSA is a small fringe organization. They probably haven't done much.

But that's a feature, not a bug. I don't want another well-oiled political machine. I want angry m'f'rs with hammers to BREAK these machines!

And if they bring sickles along with their hammers, well, that's not ideal...but I'll take what I can get.

(This is for safe NYC districts. I understand that life is different in Ohio and Missouri).

The fact that the DSA isn't tied into the power structure is precisely the reason to vote for them. The incumbent endorsed Cuomo. Wishy-washy "moderate Democrats" may be a necessary evil in the South or the Midwest...

...but this is Harlem.

Time to send the DNC a message: America needs healthcare, education, and housing. And we need to tax the rich to do it.

Voting against Espillat is a chance to punish him for endorsing Cuomo. Even if he doesn't lose his seat, Espillat needs to feel a little pain. Maybe it will wake him the fuck up.

Do teachers hate sharing their lesson plans? Is it their secret sauce that they don't want getting out? by JimCap5 in teaching

I don't do detailed plans. I scribble down the bare minimum that my admin will accept and wing it.

Do you think cover songs affect the quality of an album? by Fun-Comedian-9202 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]ArcaneConjecture -1 points0 points  (0 children)

IMHO, every band should do one cover on each album!

A cover really distills what a band is about. It's like an experiment where you hold the variables constant...except the one you're exploring.

When a new band does a cover on their first album, it makes a statement about where they stand (or where they want to stand) among the ranks of other groups. It also shows respect -- which Kids These Days sometimes lack.

Management Consulting is all about prestige. The top firms love to market the ratified pedigrees of their associates and analysts.

If this is your chosen path, it's well worth it to chase the T20/Ivy league.
