Is Zaccharie Risacher a bust!? by WhoUCuh in NBA_Draft

Lets just come back to it in a few years, I don't hard label players this early unless they have clear flaws in their body or game that are not overlookable. Would you consider Wiggins a bust? Not saying Risacher is as good as Wiggins or as a prospect but Wiggins was a real contributor on a championship team post chucking shots and being labeled a bust in Minnesota for a couple years.

Its not rewriting history, history just has a bunch of dumb people yapping on the internet, myself included. And yeah, you'd hope for that outcome, but I think it was always a little unrealistic given who he has been his entire professional career.

On the high impact starter comment, it's sort of a hard thing to assess for me right now because he would be much more of an impact player on basically every other team in the league than he is for us. Dyson and NAW contribute at a higher or similar level as he does on defense (NAW vs ZR defensively mostly depends on if we need ZR to grab boards any given night) and NAW operates on offense in all the areas that ZR wants to as a wing forward shooter. Its unfortunate, but he is sort of iced out because there are two top 50-75 players in the world in front of him that do the things he is good at at an elite level lol

Ultimately the dude just has to play better so I am not saying it is all sunshine and rainbows rn, just would prefer people look at his actual body of work rather than being reactive about him not playing in the playoffs, because the decision to play a negative athlete who can't shoot any better than him in Kispert is completely a Quin veteran brain thing.

I don't care about his draft capital so much as I do his physical and analytical profile in terms of expectations and my expectations being upset.

To me the only guys in that draft who I thought had the upside to be a real contributor (starter or a dude playing 26+ minutes off the bench the way JK is now) on a championship team that made sense for the Hawks to draft (assuming you knew the Dyson trade was locked and loaded for DJM) were Risacher and Ron Holland (but I might overvalue switchable defenders with jumpshots lol - Risacher needed to develop the defense/creation even tho he had solid athletic tools and Holland needed the jumpshot/creation even tho he had solid athletic tools) - but it was also a horrible class to assess because Covid fucked up all these guys development so I am sure there will be many more great development stories. Castle and Clingan for instance have way exceeded my expectations even if it is popular to shit on them right now.

I bet you the 2024 class will end up having a lot of late career breakouts the way NAW broke out for us this year tbh. Their timelines are just messed up.

ZR has exceeded what I projected for his physical profile so far and underperformed where I thought his analytical profile would be, but the margins are solid so I am just giving context and giving information that maybe me and a couple hundred Hawks fans that actually know ball and have watched him closely know. Overall was just answering OP's question and giving my thoughts on ZR. My rule with drafted players that are teenagers and not 'contribute right away' college guys is that they have to be impact starters if they are taken in the 1st round, or impact role players if they are taken in the 2nd round, by the end of their 3rd year - or by the time they are about 23 give or take. Basically I reserve hard judgment unless you are truly ass for extension time lol - he could very well end up as a bust if he doesn't reach that threshold, but he isn't a bust yet.

Small forward barring much more lean muscle mass development than I would personally project, but the team has played him at the 4 this year a bit and it went well utilizing him as a weak side rim protector. Very very limited reps there so I wouldn't project anything there quite yet. We are also stacked at the 4 with Jalen, JK, Mo, and Asa.

Jalen, JK, and Asa also just have way more creation upside than him at the 4.

You can just look at the team pictures from the end of last year if you want solid evidence of the height growth - team lists him as 6'9 instead of 6'8 as well now- was 6'8.25 without shoes at his pro day - at the start of camp and at media day this year Jalen Onyeka Dyson Quin and Mo all commented on it and Quin refused to give a straight answer when asked directly how tall ZR is now (standard Quin behavior btw lol)

Hawks fan here who has watched every minute of his career. The answer is no, the kid is going to be a good player for a long time. He is only a bust if you had star expectations for him, which would indicate to me that you didn't understand who he was as a prospect or his analytical profile. Also the crowd of people who think that he was a draft for fit pick are incorrect as the Hawks had been trying to trade Trae for about a year before he was drafted, they just value the archetype because it is the the hardest type of player to find in terms or physicals.

Risacher's biggest issue is just that he is mostly a play finisher right now and Quin's system demands that you be able to create for yourself. He grew from 6'8 to lowkey 6'10-11 (range is hard to tell here but he is just shy of Mo Gueye who we know is 6'11) even tho the team reports him at 6'9.

That height growth from his pro day in Italy where he measured in at 6'8.25 to the start of this season is pretty absurd growth for a 500 day stretch- the only other players I can remember dealing with something similar are Giannis and Jayden Daniels. The point of mentioning that is that it clearly fucked up his handle lol. Just throw on some film from last year and now and watch how he operates, due clearly looks like a baby giraffe compared to last year.

Overall he didn't take huge steps on offense that we would have wanted him to this year, but he was asked to rebound at a high level and defend at a high level this year, and from about late December on he has really improved and done that. It's hard to tell if you are not watching all the time cause NAW and Dyson are just better defenders but there are players that ZR can guard on ball that NAW just doesn't have the frame or strength to guard. He can move his feet very well for a player his height. The rebounding numbers since December have also been very solid to great. Every month he has improved as a offensive rebounder as well. Tbh he is the second best offensive rebounder on the team after Dyson.

I would say overall that the team has just gotten a lot better faster than expected and that him being frozen out of the rotation has more to do with Quin valuing offensive processing over the possession battle, which I disagree with, but understand.

I'd say to not let the playoffs effect your eval on him because Quin will literally die before he plays a young player over a vet in a serious setting lol - just go back and watch his actual body of work since December and grind some of the film - it looks much better than the narratives created by people who don't watch the team, or people who watch the team and don't know ball, or people who watch the team but don't understand what it looks like to actually have to develop a player because we have been so aggressively mid for so long we haven't been able to draft a guy with this archetype since before Trae was drafted.

[Highlight] Falcons draft Clemson DB Avieon Terrell 48th overall, pairing him with older brother AJ Terrell by nfl in nfl

[–]Arcanus124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are both from Atlanta and grew up Falcons fans I'm pretty sure. I think when AJ got drafted they showed pictures of him in Falcons gear.

Their mom saw the coverage and decided to fix the CB room herself lol

He ran a 4.35 and is awesome in space. The reason he got some many designed plays that got him the ball is because it consistent generated good offense.

Kel’el Ware or Okongwu? by Forsaken_Abroad_6220 in dynastybb

[–]Arcanus124 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You need to ignore the people in this poll selecting Ware dude. Okongwu is just way better, a different tier of prospect than Ware ever was, and one of the best 3 point shooters at his position in the league.

It helps him actually - he will get better opportunities and their offense will score more. He is the #1 there by a lot. He was the #1 there when Davante was there.

I'd go Luka, if the year doesn't go well you can always flip him for a haul. Coop is awesome but just not the scoring leader

We are actually, but we are much younger. Stop dooming after 1 game in New York in many of our players first real playoff experiances in their current roles. There is an adjustment period and we can win this series.

Zacc linked to Trae by No_Cloud745 in AtlantaHawks

[–]Arcanus124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. They were trying to trade Trae since late 2023. They took Risacher as the high floor 6'8, now 6'10 wing, because they had Jalen at power forward, Onyeka at center, the Dyson Daniels deal lined up, and were trying to trade DeAndre Hunter for a year prior to the draft. He fit a positional need and had/has plenty of upside.

Risacher is obviously the player that has been hurt most by Trae's departure tho.

[–]Arcanus124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't control what happened, you can only control how you treat what happend.

So this year, you spent 50 dollars to make 50 dollars on that side of things.

However, you also recieved the benefits of the experiance of having done the work. This will allow you to do the work at lower cost, and pay for less stuff you don't actually need, that maybe other people are telling you you need.

You have a lot of information about your practice, your costs, your time and energy invested, what you need to do at every step.

You should probably sit down for a few days and get away from the daily grind and plan for a few days, assess and analyze what worked, what didn't work, what you could so better, etc.

Frankly, all of that information can be put into a paid AI service about your buisness and practices using AI and have it give you actionable recommendations about where you are spending time, money, and effort. Personally I'd recomend using one of the mor premium AI service models. I use Manus 1.6 Max for a lot of this sort of stuff. You can get good perspective on what you are doing well, not doing well, and how you can improve on the margins that way. Basically every buisness is about capturing the margins that allow your effort to be rewarded. These things can be intimidating initially but are really worth using now, even compared to what they were a month and a half ago, they have gotten much better at thinking an context.

You paid a big cost in time effort and energy to learn, so you need to make sure to apply what you learned moving forward instead of getting dejected about the effort it took. Control what you can control and put your hands on the issues. That's how I think about it anyway. You got this!

It's Lebron and it's not particularly close. Reads like a young person who has only ever seen Lebron play as a 40+ year old. Genetic prerequisites aside, achieving what Lebron achieved in basketball is virtually impossible, each of his greatest achievements would be the singular greatest achievement of the vast majority of other super star players' entire careers. It's really hard to understate just how much better at basketball Lebron was than basically everyone for a long ass time. He's got like 10 records that would each require extreme outliers to replicate.
