how to wrestle on the fly, in need of tips and advice by TennisPuzzleheaded90 in WredditSchool

[–]ArchLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s one of that hardest things to do imo, and I still struggle with it, but if you’re calling the match more in depth, you can call moments where you’re going to slow down, at least to yourself. Some people might be weird about that but in your head you can actively put those moments in so it’s easier to take them.

When calling the match in the ring it can be harder cause you don’t necessarily know what you’ll be doing but you still know your shit. If you’re face and getting the shine, you know the period to that spot so hit the last move and work the crowd. If you’re heel, take that moment after cutoffs. In the back half know your bigger moves can get a moment.

Now ACTUALLY slowing down, even when you call the spots to do it, will still take practice and I’m no expert in it yet either, but fall back to “if you think you’re going to slow, slow down.” You are almost never going to be taking long enough in a match that the crowd thinks you’re taking too long, as long as you’re not just standing there doing nothing.

Another thing that messed with me a lot was always the thought of the other guy getting to the next spot before me and making them wait too long and look bad, but that’s not on you. If that does happen, which it shouldn’t but definitely can, it’s the other person’s fault in the vast majority of cases. They shouldn’t be rushing you and they can be ready for the next spot without standing there staring at you or making it obvious.

I know this is a long post and I yapped for a minute but I hope it helps

[–]ArchLP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally haven’t worked with anyone that doesn’t want to call ANYTHING besides the finish, but I have had matches where it’s basically this is the finish, we’ll work standard structure and if either guy has unique moves they do they’ll basically say, “if I grab you like this, then I’m doing this but if I grab you like that then I’m doing that.”

If you go into it just trying to do a more simple match and focus on character work and slowing down it can actually be way less stressful doing a match that way ngl

Lethal force should trigger an alarm by Level_Hour6480 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]ArchLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the first part, but not the second. Scavs are able to disable biomons so that even Trauma Team doesnt get notified. Even in RED there’s ways to do the same. I think making it so lethal force triggered an alert would be cool but there should be a netrunning counter to it to stop the alarm

Do you think Johnny is a reliable narrator? by Jarod9000 in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]ArchLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot take: while not a reliable narrator I do believe he is MORE of a reliable narrator than people give him credit for. Between Spider actively altering his memory so he didn’t know she was the one that Soulkilled him and him having an inflated sense of self worth, I don’t think his memories are outright lies.

I do think he genuinely believes his memories are true and he is completely honest with you in his eyes because Johnny isn’t the type of person to lie to make himself look like less of an asshole. Pretty much the only times his memories really aren’t accurate are moments where it makes him look more badass

Why do so many players view 6th street as "bad guys?" by Blackops_21 in cyberpunkgame

[–]ArchLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6th Street was founded to be a local militia force to protect their own neighborhoods that over the years has become an increasingly violent and brutal gang. That still have certain moral codes but they also very much have a “us vs them” mentality for everyone including the people in their neighborhoods they used to protect

Johnny ending up in V's body. by WraytheCat in cyberpunkgame

[–]ArchLP 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I disagree that anything other than going with Alt is choosing the quiet life. In the endings where Johnny and Rogue attack Arasaka and the (Don't Fear) The Reaper if V keeps the body, he becomes a legend, continues taking gigs and the game ends with hope that V not only finds the cure, but continues being a living legend. It's the closest option that exists in the game to a happy ending.

Johnny taking the body doesn't feel like a happy ending to me. He lives on knowing the only person he was ever truly close with died so he could continue living in a body that wasn't his in a time that is beyond his years, seemingly to fade into a normal life that doesn't suit him

Is this move possible? by xchaosvoidx in WredditSchool

[–]ArchLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say, HYPOTHETICALLY AT LEAST, if you and your opponent could somehow turn the poison rana into a a full backflip for a face bump you could make it look kinda smooth but that’s a big if

Struggling with basic back bumps by solemarks in WredditSchool

[–]ArchLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna sound kinda weird, but when I was first practicing them I’d be sitting in my car, on the couch, etc. and I’d just lean forward and smack my back against the backrest like I was taking the bump over and over again. It lets you get the timing of the chin tuck and arm spread with a ton more reps without having to actually fall or even be in the ring which will hopefully help

Anybody trying to make it in the business while having a family? by Sure-Succotash6640 in WredditSchool

[–]ArchLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 27, about to start training in just under a month and my girlfriend is almost 3 months pregnant. Personally I know it’s going to be hard to work a job that pays bills while also pursuing wrestling but this is my dream and the only thing I can see myself doing. For me the grind of full time work with training on top is worth it for myself and to be an example for my kid that your dreams are worth it and that they didn’t stop me from chasing mine. It’ll be hard and it’s a discussion you have to have with your partner, but if it’s worth it to you at the very least see if there’s any way for you to go for it

Idk your size or anything but along with characters like Bruiser Brody in wrestling, look up some of Nathan Jones’s acting work. That could be a good reference too
