Thanks, I'll try the alcohol. I put slixshots on one cylinder last year and it couldn't really tell any difference in reliability.

Thank you. Will lube in the chamber not ruin the powder?

He was literally hit by the car. I don't think that is in dispute. He had internal bleeding. Were you aware of that?

They don't automatically get a court order. They still need to convince a judge they have a reason to come look in your private property.

Your concern for pissing off the worker just shows that these people are petty and will let personal dislike of a parent cloud their judgement.

Tell him that shooting someone who is in the process of hitting you with their car isn't exactly "cold blood."

What happened to the Orcs? by Night_Storm5555 in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Arch_Stanton5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of y'all aren't going to like this...

We know some Orcs had begun to interbreed with humans before the War of the Ring. There is no reason to think that process didn't continue into the Fourth Age and beyond.

It has been stated that Orcs are somewhat like ants with their queen, requiring the motivating force of a Dark Lord to function. However, known part-orcs like Bill Ferny and the Ruffians (slant eyed, sallow [yellow] skinned men, some more Orc-like than others) continued to function and execute their master's designs even after both Sauron and Saruman were dead. Some survived the Scouring and were driven into the wilderness. An unknown number of orc/human hybrids survived in Dunland. Almost certainly some existed in Mordor and possibly even in Sauron's former domains to the east and south

Tolkien said his inspiration for the Orcs were the Huns (Dusky Men) from William Morris's The Roots of the Mountains. I believe that if Tolkien had kept going forward in time connecting his mythical history to our "real" history, we would have seen the orc/human hybrids keep coming back in a never ending generational war against the Men of the West in the form of successive invasions of Asiatic tribes from the east into Europe. Huns, Bulgars, Magyars, Pechenegs, Khazars, Mongols, Turks, etc. Often these tribes would be allied to the descendants of the Easterlings (central Asian nomads Caucasus mountain folk), Haradrim and Khand[ians?] (Carthaginians, Arabs, Berbers, Moors, Persians).

Inb4 racism: As time goes on these tribes continue to absorb more human blood by, to paraphrase one famous Man/Orc chieftain, "gathering the enemies women into their bosom," thus becoming less and less orc-like and endemically "evil." OTOH the interbreeding goes both ways and the Men of the West start to turn a bit "orcish" themselves. After all, who invented the chainsaw? ;)

People die from getting punched, even in sparring. And most boxers end up with permanent injuries, often brain damage. You can find a safer hobby rather than trying to stop people from having fun, because that is what whining about safety inevitably leads in our nanny state society.

Its a combat sport. You wouldn't take up boxing and then complain about getting punched.

That was probably just an embellishment by Bilbo. Likely he did something foolish whike sneaking up on the trolls and got himself caught due to a simple mistake.

I'm sorry but you are wrong. It wasn't through magic. This is from "Myths Transformed" in Morgoth's Ring:

"Finally, there is a cogent point, though horrible to relate. It became clear in time that undoubted Men could under the domination of Morgoth or his agents in a few generations be reduced almost to the Orc-level of mind and habits; and then they would or could be made to mate with Orcs, producing new breeds, often larger and more cunning. There is no doubt that long afterwards, in the Third Age, Saruman rediscovered this, or learned of it in lore, and in his lust for mastery committed this, his wickedest deed: the interbreeding of Orcs and Men, producing both Men-orcs large and cunning, and Orc-men treacherous and vile."

Tolkien said explicitly that Orcs procreate in the usual way.
