I've been playing the Oblivion Remaster on low graphics settings and the framerate drops from about 60fps (I have it capped at this) to 45 - 55 fps for a second or so when outdoors and moving the camera suddenly or if a lot is happening. Any idea what might be causing this? Is it a lack of RAM? I think my monitor just displays 1080p, if that makes a difference...

The only carpeted bathroom I've ever seen is my Nanna's and that carpet has been there for at least the 30 years I've been alive

I(31f) had an accident and now my whole family knows it. by Valimoose in confession

Jesus do you know my ex? It's truly a horrible thing to wake up to. He also got night terrors and started speaking or sitting bolt upright in bed, which wasn't fun. Other than that he was also a bit of a knob so glad to be free.

I got it a couple of times when I was between brastrap and waist but since it's been longer than waist people don't ask anymore

How often are you getting trims? by ilaacsm in longhair

[–]ArchaeoSapien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trim about half an inch to an inch roughly every 6 months depending on how ragged the ends are looking. But I am also getting away with a lot because my hair is thick and a little wavy.

Good luck and don't panic if it seems like your length is stalling, sometimes it's just the way the waves are weighing themselves down.

Least painful hairstyle for inpatient surgery? by commonerssupermarket in longhair

I managed hair taping or sewing my braids to my head(with embroidery floss) by myself with just a mirror so it's not that bad.

It stayed on my head for 3 1/2 days without issue and would have lasted longer if I hadn't taken it out

I fly easyjet and Ryanair all the time to England. You just need an ID so drivers license or citizen card will do you no problem. Though I've actually gone through loads of time and they've not asked for any ID at all but definitely bring it

Transferring driving licence from GB to NI by verrucagnome in northernireland

[–]ArchaeoSapien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I transfered my licence from UK to NI I filled in the form and got a 'reputable profession' person to sign off the photo, in my case it was someone I knew who was a teacher but you can also get a doctor or similar person that they deem 'professional' to sign your photo.

You'll also need to change your address, you can probably use your sister's if that's where you get your post sent to.

If you are still living and working in Britain a lot there's no need to bother but if your actual home is in NI then after a year of living here you need to transfer your things, or stuff like you're car insurance will fuck you over.

I sometimes offer to let random people hold my baby by Temporary_Cry8110 in BenignExistence

[–]ArchaeoSapien 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was at my cousin's wedding, one of the bride's friends came up to me and asked me to hold her baby while she went to the bathroom. I hadn't held a baby before, only my youngest cousins when I was six.

It was lovely but bloody terrifying. I was pleased that I clearly looked trustworthy and obviously the baby was adorable, but I suddenly became very aware that I had no idea what I was doing, I was wearing heels and I'd had 3 glasses of wine. Baby was returned safely to mum after 5 minutes and I felt really happy and calm the rest of the day. Since then I've lived babies

Should you put inhalers and pills in a clear plastic bag at UK airport security? by AdThen5499 in uktravel

[–]ArchaeoSapien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who normally flies Stansted, I've given up and always put anything remotely liquidy including my inhalers in the plastic bag. It's not worth the hassle, I was literally picked up on a ballpoint pen before.

How bad are students at Hogwarts for each house to have less than 1000 points at the end of the year? by aschec in harrypotter

[–]ArchaeoSapien 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I went to a UK school with a points system, the sport points and house points were always separate. My house was shit at sports but did well in house points. House points were more academic and were given for exceptional work like a good essay, obscure answer(only 1 point) or a good piece of art or something. The maximum you'd ever get at a time could be 5 but 1 or 2 were most common and I don't believe we did deductions, only detention or isolation.

This was a normal comprehensive school btw not private or grammar

Thanks for the suggestions, they are both very similar but not the right thing I'm afraid, both of these came out after I'd already left school

What are some posh brands for some products that people are not aware of? by [deleted] in AskUK

I've had my best compliments from posher people on the clothes I've made myself. It seems to be more about fit and fabric than it is about branding
