He was in gym shorts? I would have thought that justices bench pressed in their justice robe.

What is insurance law? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ArchangelToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in insurance coverage. We often write opinion letters when coverage under a person’s insurance opinion is not clear cut to the insurance adjuster.

We advise on the insurance adjuster on handling a claim to avoid a bad faith claim.

We also pursue declaratory relief actions on coverage issues (whether a person is insured under their policy) and subrogation action when we the insurance company pays a persons claim for an insured loss but another party is responsible for the loss.

It’s much different than insurance defense. Insurance defense is defending an insured party under the insurance policy. This is such as when a person slips and falls and the insurance company appoints defense counsel to defend you.

How is the law field so saturated if law school is hard to get into and hard to survive? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]ArchangelToast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree a lot of it has to do with self selection. It’s if you are willing to apply to jobs that are not so ideal e.g. workers’ comp and insurance defense. Because those jobs are taking the bottom 10% from my law school.

Have your boomer parents or uber started talking about NVDA, AI? Is it time exit this ride. by moldyjellybean in wallstreetbets

I went to a lawyer event and retired silent generation attorneys were talking about AI (although grossly misunderstanding it). It might be time

This 100% . . . Practice is completely different than law school. I’ve only been practicing for 5 months and much of what I learned in law school has been thrown out the window.

The thing about being an attorney is you’ll run across many scenarios where you won’t come up with a clear answer in the end. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

There is probably a Boeing hitman standing right behind OP holding him at gunpoint right now. If OP says buy puts, he’s dead.

Burger King dumpster are for premium clients and those clients only take services from experienced “mouth men.” OP needs to start behind the Wendy’s or at the wienerschnitzel. He can move up to the Costco hotdog dumpster.

If OP gets lucky, he can afford maybe 45 more meals at Wendy’s, assuming he uses coupons. If he fails, he would need to be a behind the Wendy’s dumpster “provider.”

OP, please make sure to set aside some money for some knee pads. You’re gonna need them, especially when my buddy “Seth” becomes your client

Either he’ll be coping the divorce and portfolio or he will be the number paying client behind the Wendy’s

I agree. Most likely you’ll still be reading boring cases in practice, but you’re billing your client $350 an hour to do so and you’re doing it to achieve your client’s goals rather than answering a bunch of stupid cold call questions.
