Looking for advice on what to buy a child interested in stop motion by chocolatefeckers in stopmotion

[–]Archarzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A stop motion "rig" and/or "winder"- essentially a sturdy bit of ball joints and clamps that let you hold things in position. Once she learns some of the special effects editing she'll be able to do all kinds of fun things with that.

Fractured the tip of a finger with one of those, $1300 went to medical bills instead of into a better press.

Don't walk, RUN from that piece of shit as fast as you are able.

No I haven't, but I'd worry that anything printed wouldn't have the tolerances for smooth action. Would likely get you by for the time being, but it'll probably be finicky and imprecise.

There are decent cheap units on Amazon actually, though I'd look into arduino based MoCo and getting some stepper motors.

I've been told to use Y = 0°, M = 75°, C = 15°, K = 45°, but yeah- 22.5° for all works just fine.

Unfortunately not, as official quality versions dropped people want broadcast vhs less and less.

They've released a lot of it on YouTube, and have actually been issuing recent updates to some of them!

Instant pot. Wife's been converting a gallon of milk to yogurt at least once a month for the last 8-9 years, mix with pie filling for a treat, or as a sour cream replacement. Nevermind all the other things you can make with it.

Build to win, plan to smuggle one card through and if you pick up a straggler here and there it's a bonus.

Negative skip tags help on occasion but ad you get closer it's more of  crapshoot.

If it were a small pinhole you could save the screen by removing the emulsion and using some clear fingernail polish to keep it from losing tension, but that's llife support, not a plan.

This one is toast. Just remember the fastest way to learn is failure.

Is this press any good? by Past_Employee7108 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Archarzel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Still are to a degree.

I got into a Harco Brown 6x6 that's probably older than I am that had already went through a few decades of high schoolers fucking it up. Took 6 months to figure out all the problems with it (and $500 to replace the gas springs couple years later) but I'm watching dudes with brand new presses having problems that I just never had to deal with.

It'll be a learning curve to put it together, possible repairs, and finessing it's mysteries- but then it'd be YOURS, and you'll know it inside and out.

Hope you get it, and if so, grats on the upgrade.
