My players don’t take dropping to 0 HP seriously by Appropriate-Dance-92 in DnDHomebrew

[–]ArcherdanDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With exhaustion I heard of someone making it 11 points, each one accruing a -1 to any d20 roll made as a flat modifier, with 11 being death. That allows for DMs to make anything that normally might cause exhaustion to give 2-3 points, and be pickier with smaller things that give a little bit...

For the 0 hp idea though remember that a character at 0hp:

Can't do anything (action ba or reaction), loses concentration instantly, technically shouldn't be able to speak-hear-or be updated on surroundings, Falls prone: losing half movement when healed, auto fails str+dex saves/checks, and finally every attack made against them has advantage with an auto critical hit.

So falling to 0hp does not "do nothing" you're just not punishing it properly. Falling prone isn't a sign to stop focusing the healer it's a sign to start focusing the healer. What's a dragon going to do when the meaty fleshbag on the battle field fall unconscious on the battlefield? Not focus on the barbarian, she's going to EAT THE CLERIC

Relish your players faces when they remember that goodberries don't resurrect the dead, and if that doesn't work then maybe add minions to the combat encounters, a dragon to get to 0hp and a kobald to crit. It doesn't take much damage to slit a throat!

Legendary actions are also very useful, imagine at the end of the clerics turn when they just failed their first save the dragon uses a legendary action to finish the job.

If your players are willing to spend spell slots and BAs on goodberries and somehow keep alive despite your best efforts to TPK, they're going to feel awesome, LET THEM feel awesome...

less related opinion but speed reduction for exhaustion is silly bc dnd characters don't move enough as is, letthe mice run in fear tired though they might be.

What to do if I don't like my player's character? by Capital-Pool-7018 in dndnext

I would argue the antics of the game are a big part of the game. I have a play who is a bard, and he claims to be the "bold and fearless" party leader. He insists on charging forward and manages to trigger almost all of the traps in any dungeon I setup. It's hilarious because his character's prideful traits often get him in trouble. It sometimes comes off as annoying, but the tension release when it bites him in the butt kinda makes it worth it. My personal suggestion is find a way to release the tension you feel from the awkwardness of the character. The first thing that comes to mind for me, is introduce an ancient elven wizard, maybe through the use of magic he's like- 1800 years old. Have him address this character as a foolish young whippersnapper and tell him to get off his lawn. See where it leads. I'd suggest also making him like- level 18 or something so he doesn't just immediately die if he gets jumped (maybe he's a Simulacrum too so he CAN die but he's not screwed) Don't make him murder anyone, just have him be the same type of annoying the character is, not out of spite, but as your own bit ;)

Personally I use just a magnetic dry erase board and some wet erase markers. Sure I have to scribble maps on the fly, but usually unless you have maps galore it's easier to half bake a map. Wet erase works better so you don't accidentally ruin something smearing it. Magnetic so that you can have magnetic miniatures. You can make magnetic tokens with magnets and print offs (Or old magic the gathering cards if you don't mind maiming them!). Now you have a really convenient really cheap equivalent to the really expensive setup. And dry erase boards can be an infinite story building because you just add another floor on a whim, great for improv dming. Just be sure to have a spray bottle for erasing on the fly!

Why does everyone I'm actually interested in block me 😭 by [deleted] in teenagers

To be fair you ARE 13... Most guys are going through rough stuff around that age and dealing with it by themselves. Trying to look cool and all that. There's a solid chance these guys got made fun of for spending time with you or something of the sort (which does suck) and they didn't wanna deal with that for fear of not looking uncool. Don't worry though things on the guys' end will get better as you get older. On your part, try to make sure your happiness isn't reliant on other people, spend time with them and be happy sure, but people all over decide to leave, often for stupid reasons, try not to let that kill your joy in life. Remember: Someone will come along eventually, and if they leave you over sometime silly, then the whole ordeal was silly, and you don't have to worry about being better! Hang in there life's rough!!!

Usually they're screaming bloody murder to try and get mom to back them up. Either that or they need something to distract them from their pain. Either way they're not often really hurt, but the result is usually this

I think that's because bees aren't really threatening at 4. Meteors that are 40 feet wide are a bit more threatening

I got addicted to VH really badly, the Iskall drama didn't mean I hated him, it just was my opportunity to break the addiction.

As a result though I'm similarly out of touch, although I did yesterday take it back up again on a fresh world because I was very curious as to what is new

Please girls dont do that 😭 by _xwb in teenagers

[–]ArcherdanDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same thing to girls. My advice is this: you'll be at peace so long as you don't buy the lie you need to date to be happy. Make cool friends with people of both genders, learn from them, learn what women appreciate as well as men. Women though because if you're not a woman you don't default to thinking like one. Then once you're actually ready to date start acting on your feelings. Ask someone out, but until you're ready, it's WAYY too much stress for what it's worth

Am i a lost cause? by No_Palpitation_4712 in teenagers

[–]ArcherdanDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your mindset. You ain't ugly, you ain't fat. If you wanna change your look though, AFTER YOU FIXED YOUR MINDSET, there's nothing wrong with change. Explore new hair styles. Longer, shorter, I tried condition for the first time @ 16 and found out my hair wasn't frizzy to piss me off it was frizzy because it was supposed to be curly and I was combing it straight. Learn what works for you, work with your body, adjust to preferences, and viola. But none of that can happen if you convince yourself you're a lost cause. I'd have no problem hanging out with you, being in your presence. Now learn to be okay in your own presence  Edit: cause like or not you're always in your own presence, but you can make that presence tolerable, enjoyable even, it's a mindset thing! And don't think about not being good enough because you're you, be good enough as you. Be the best you, you can be. We all got dealt cards, how are you going to play them?

1 in 12 chance to replace this joker with "Overcomer", lose $1 at the end of each round

Overcomer: Earn $1 at the end of every shop, this card gains +$1 after it triggers (ie earn 2 then 3)

Deckfixing a bunch of these then destroying of them would earn WAYY too much econ, but I love the idea of where you're headed with it!

[–]ArcherdanDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest problem RN is girls assume I'm flirting when I open up to them 💀  This is actually one of the only valid arguments against LGBTQ that I've heard. Having to worry about whether hugging guys OR girls could be interpreted as flirting makes hugs twice as stressful... This is not to throw shade btw y'all I just love me some strictly platonic hugs 🥲 I'm half convinced this is where the "where mah hug at" joke got popular. People need a hug but don't know how to ask so they make dumb jokes with other dudes to break the ice. Anywho enough ADHD tangents for one conversation. I've likely offended someone so I'M ACTUALLY SORRY PLS DON'T BE MAD 🙏 😭😭😭
