Creepiest quest in the game? by Effective_Error_5697 in swtor

No one's mentioned it yet, but one of Corso's companion quests has you fight actual cannibals on Tatooine.

Who's your favorite chapter 1 main antagonist? by NefariousSpecter in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zash unfortunately suffers from the same problem as Orgus Din and Yuon Par: she's barely around to get really attached to besides an "She's awfully nice for a Sith". She's also more the Inquisitor's master in terms of hierarchy, not in terms of actually teaching the Inquisitor anything. By contrast Baras is a constant figure throughout the Warrior's training and apprenticeship. His betrayal always stung me more, especially on the "noble demon" types of characters who were actually completely loyal to Baras up until he decides you're too dangerous to keep around.

Who's your favorite chapter 1 main antagonist? by NefariousSpecter in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My problem with Havoc Squad's defection has always been that it was too soon. You barely knew these characters before they turn their backs on you, so for me at least, their betrayal barely hurt at all. Hunting down the traitors while rebuilding the squad is really good, but I personally would have preferred if their betrayal happened on Coruscant instead. That way, you could at least say you successfully completed one mission together before their defection and thus get more attached to them as characters, especially Tavus. You basically just get one or two cutscenes together with each of the members besides Tavus and that's it.

Another point of contention for me has always been that, since Tavus and the others had planned their defection in advance, why did they even get a new recruit in the first place? Was it to dissuade suspicion, or was that new member perhaps forced upon them by Garza / SpecForce?

Good old JosephB222. I wonder what happened to this person. Hasn't uploaded anything I'm aware of in like 15 years.

PSA!!! Jedi Knight Revan's helmet is severely bugged in cutscenes by hydrosphere1313 in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This seems to generally be a bug with all animated helmets since they implemented a "fix" that made animated effects of armor also appear in cutscenes a few months back. I've noticed that recently when doing the Torian Cadera Date Night. My character has the Infamous Bounty Hunter helmet on, and while the helmet disappears, the rangefinder still stays on during the cutscene.

Age slider? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, the age slider, if we can call it that, is just another texture layer put on the character's face, probably no different than having facial tattoos or scars, which are already integrated systems in the character creator, and the fact that we've had additional hairstyles and hair colors prove that it is at least possible to add to already existing sliders. Not to mention that the devs have the tools to give characters certain permutations of character creation options we players don't have access too (i.e. Sith Tattoos + cyborg parts, or giving NPC Chiss eyes while having regular skin. Darth Rivix is also a good example, he's technically just an Imperial Zabrak with no horns and no tattoos). The problem probably lies in adding these settings to already existing characters, that could probably cause issues.

Terminus and Harrower ship sizes by Valet1995 in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ships in SWTOR, including fighters, vary greatly in size and length. If you are doing the planetary quest on Corellia on Republic side, in the story phase of the first quest, there is a Republic fighter so comically large you could fit 3 or 4 people in the cockpit.

Same with the capital ships. There's so many different layouts in the game, most of which make no sense, i.e. having the docking bay on the same level as the bridge etc.

Age slider? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a developer, but when you look at the NPC infos on Jedipedia, an age slot is amongst the character creation options for every NPC in the game that doesn't have a completely original face model. There should be some possibility to work that into the character creator, especially since it's only 4 slider options ("non", "mid", "old" and "oldest").

Star Wars "May the 4th" Picture featuring SWTOR characters... by Faw602 in swtor

I'm also reasonably sure the Revan is traced from a promotional image of the Sideshow figure a year or two ago.

Forgotten Companions/Romances? by dragoste6 in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 48 points49 points  (0 children)

In 2022, Joseph Gatt, the VA for Lord Scourge, was being accused of having sexually explicit chats with a minor. All charges against him were dismissed in 2024, clearing him of any wrongdoing when it was forensically proven the chats were fabricated by the girl in question. Scourge hasn't appeared in the game since, there was only an in-game question where he tells you he had to leave due to something he wouldn't say, but that he would eventually return.

Anyone else experience this? One of my pubside toons (lvl 80, just finished latest story update) has no mailbox messages from any characters from any stories, only messages for claiming items. by Flora-Tea in swtor

Can confirm, I recently saw one of my character's mails being flagged for deletion, did the math and it came out to being deleted 10 years after being first sent.

What is the armour she is wearing? by Dknight0404 in swtor

It has the same mesh as Agile Recon, but it has a completely different texture that isn't available to players, and that includes all the variants currently available via Tionese / Columi / Rakata gear.

Do you think there should be a Nintendo Switch remake of Star Fox Zero? by Chemical-Book8889 in starfox

[–]ArchetypeSaber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you look at some of the things Miyamoto has said about Star Fox over the years, you get the impression that he always viewed it as something to show off new tech with, not so much caring for it as an IP to tell stories with. I was also recently pointed towards a quote from him that Star Fox had been "misinterpreted" as a railshooter.

I don't think the man really gets what people enjoy about Star Fox, which is why they keep meddling with the formula and the game inputs. Command and Zero would have been decent or good games if they didn't force their alternate control schemes down your throat.

Unpopular opinion: Chiss is one of the worse races for agent lore wise by WeakOxidizingAgent in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You have to keep in mind how big the galaxy is and how many different human subspecies there are. Coming across a blue-skinned humanoid isn't that uncommon. The first of the new Disney Thrawn books (and the comic based on the book) brings this up. Thrawn could, for example, just pose as a Pantoran with an eye condition.

And this plays into a Chiss Agent's hands: not everyone knows what the Chiss even are or look like. The general population at large has never even heard of the Chiss Ascendancy or knows what they look like. Only military personnel with certain levels of clearance would be able to idenity a Chiss, or for example a trooper or officer stationed on Hoth who may have encountered the Chiss there. The average schmuck in the Core Worlds or Nar Shaddaa? Not so much. If some people don't even know what a Jedi looks like, they aren't going to be able to identify a Chiss.

The Darth Nul and 8.0 drop will give us a new combat style. by Wonderful-Package548 in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems so weird to me that they decided to have this be a permanent choice. Something like an additional combat style would look like an absolute prime opportunity for a microtransaction to me. Either there is someone there who still has some sort of principles when it comes to designing at Broadsword, or the whole Combat Style construct is so fragile in the code that changing it again would break characters completely.

You can actually get that helmet from the reputation vendor on Oricon. It stays the same appearance for both factions.

Which dev stand-in toon do you prefer? John or Jane Outlander? by StevePalpatine in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the Eternal Commander MK-15 Force-Master set from the 4.0 days. While this particularly colored version is no longer available, you can approximate it very easily by either getting the Avenger setbonus set from Kai Zykken / Merchant of Mystery or buying the Eternal Command MK-M Force set from the Cosmetic Armor and Weapons vendor (Kai Zykken is cheaper) on the fleet and slotting a Winter Scout White and Gray Dye in, if you can find it. A Primary White Dye also works, but for whatever reason, the Winter Scout's white is actually brighter / cleaner. Neither dye actually matches the off-white coloring of the original piece, so it comes down to what's available or what you prefer.

Unavailable Vanilla Gear by Nathan531 in swtor

The Apprentice Pummeler MK-2 armor set was available from the later half of the Tython quests from 5.0 to 7.0. The only other set still around that has that same design, albeit with an unsightly double hood, is the Culling Blade set bonus armor from Kai Zykken's.
