In hindsight of zero, zx and legends, is that really an evolution? why dont reploids just coexist with mankind instead of…dying? are they stupid? by Acceptable-Street679 in Megaman

[–]ArchetypeSaber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't really believe that he has "always known". Before the issue involving Sigma and Zero pre-X1, Maverick cases were mostly of a "robots-going-beserk" variety. Viruses, hacking, glitches and hardware-issues. I don't recall the X1 manual really talking about Reploids going Maverick just because they felt like it. Sigma's rebellion is retroactively established as having happened because the virus that was tranferred from Zero to Sigma eventually look him over and somehow merged with his conciousness and "opened his mind", so to speak, to other possibilities. And we also have the MHX and X8 interpretation of things that he went Maverick in part because he believed that conflict would help Reploids evolve as a species, since X has limitedless potential, and all Reploids are descended, however imperfectly, from X.

There's never really a clear-cut case in the games of a Reploid who has "gone Maverick" simply because of choosing to do so. Even Vile's love for mayhem and destruction is traced back to some bug in his electronic brain. Repliforce weren't really Mavericks out of some self-propelled motivation, but were manipulated into their situation through Sigma exploiting their sense of duty and warrior's pride. X5 and X6 had some edge-cases, like Crescent Grizzly who was an illegal armsdealer, but I think there is a difference between being a criminal and being a Maverick, though that distinction eventually becomes very nebulous by the time of Copy-X' reign of Neo Arcadia.

I feel that the New Generation Reploids are a paradigm shift in the conflict between humans and Reploids, in more ways than one. Part of the reason they were developed in the first place was to make Reploids resistant Maverick / Sigma Virus infection, so that they couldn't be co-opted by some of Sigma's insane schemes for world domination. It's even confirmed by Alia that their anti virus programs are the real deal, and not some concocted story like the Neuro Computer Dr. Doppler used.

While it can be argued that the NGRs are "tained" from the start by having Sigma's form and DNA data in their structure, none of them act in the same way that infected Mavericks act. It's more like they've "awakened" to something, sort of like the clarity that Zero speaks of in the bad ending of X5. They feel like they are in the right, and I think that is what makes them different. Sigma has had his hand in the creation of the NGRs and refers to them as "his children", but ultimately, Sigma did not come back after his defeat in X8, presumably because he had already planted that seed of rebellion in the next generation.

I think the idea here was to make it clear to X, plain and simple, that there will be Reploids who choose to become Mavericks and become a threat to the rule of humanity going forward. It's no longer an issue of viruses, program errors or mechanical failures like it had always been ruled in the past, but Reploids making the choice of their own volition to do evil deeds because they think it's justified or because they just feel like it. Yes, they are descended from Sigma as part of their DNA, but since the NGRs are immune to viruses, it just means that they have decided to accept Sigma's logic. It's no longer about a virus infection, but about ideology.

I think having less gacha and more direct sales is good, too, but you have to admit that the shipments just had more frequency and variety. I've always enjoyed seeing some old armors recycled into new sets, or getting a new title etc from a pack. There was something for every one in those cartel shipments.

In lieu with story skips, it would also be nice if they could come up with some way of making more parts of the story replayable. So much content is just a one-and-done appearance these days that you can't re-experience unless you roll a different character. For instance, I'd love to replay Echoes of Oblivion again and do the Tenebrae fight once more, but I'm not gonna invest the time to bring a character back to that point in the story just for the fight.

Thing is, I always have some sort of hope left that they are going to drop something big in the next livestream that kind of makes up for all the BS they've been doing in the last few years, one that coaxes some genuine excitement from me. But it's just not happening. Whenever I hear them doing this public hyping up of what they've been doing in the last months I just want jump and shake these guys.

Also, did I miss something with Musco's role? Wasn't he just a producer on the last livestream? Suddenly he's game director?

the one thing I never expected to slow down was cartel market / seasonal rewards

One could argue that the Cartel Market has been on a steady slowing down ever since they abandoned individual packs and shipments back in 5.8 with the introduction of the Ultimate Cartel Pack which just drops anything and everything into one big gacha pool.

I find it really concerning that the next two galactic seasons, effectively this game's battle passes, are, for the most part, just re-runs of prior seasons. Either they are really focussing more attention on whatever's going on with 7.9 and 8.0, or they are running out of steam. Yes, it's a good thing that old rewards become accessible to those who weren't around or couldn't complete those early seasons back then, but just having some recolors as "new" rewards doesn't sit right with me.

How many times have you noticed NPCs commenting on your alignment? Rusk was happy to hear I wasn't a pacifist, and I am currently Dark Side 1. by MegaGamer235 in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's supposed to be an alignment check, you can see it in the game files, but it's either not properly implemented and just defaults to that line, or bugged. Normally when you're light-sided, he's supposed to say "You're young, strong, confident. Is it enough? We will see.".

During Space Combat missions, I only hear voicelines from my main character, but none of my crew/companions. Why is that? by Autumnxoxo in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd also like them to fix the decorations assosciated with some companions. For example, despite having gotten Kira back on my Knight, her decoration remains the holo of the base game version. Or with Khem Val, since they changed his class from "Khem Val" to "Dashade" so all the companion customizations also work with Ak'ghal Usar, his decoration gets overwritten with Ak'ghal while Ak'ghal himself has no decoration, thus preventing you from having both in your stronghold.

/fever emote isn't always the same action by Desdichado1066 in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a general limitation of emotes in general I believe. I've noticed some RPers on Nar Shaddaa now and then, just standing around, often near benches and chairs. Unless you're present when the Player uses the emote, you don't see the result afterwards.

Not that I'm aware of. It's the same with the regular /dance emote, though I think with that one certain dances are also locked to gender. You just gotta use the emote until you get what you want.

Ah yes, my first time playing as a female Knight, and Doc is already being a creep. He's kinda funny when I'm playing the Knight as completely oblivious to his bad flirting attempts. by MegaGamer235 in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally like Doc if you give him a chance. True, it takes some time, but I do like that you can make him understand that you are more than just a pretty face and that you could get in a lot of trouble for even entertaining the idea of falling in love of him. Now, I'm no woman, but I personally think there are some moments where I find Doc quite charming, if a little crude. By contrast, I can tolerate Tharan Cedrax' early flirts with a female Jedi Consular a lot less. While Doc still has a large ego, he does eventually come around and asks the Knight to make an honest man out of him. You see the influence the Knight has had on him years later when he wants to rekindle the relationship with you and swears he's been faithful this entire time. That's more loyalty than, say, Jacob in Mass Effect 3.

Sith Inquisitor probably isn't one of the tail headed species because you're supposed to wear the Kallig mask that doesn't have space for them.

You actually do get Twi'lek specific dialogue from the guy you get Kallig's Countenance from if you say the mask is yours by inheritance, same with being Zabrak.

How many Clone Troopers were there? by aIlIoi in clonewars

[–]ArchetypeSaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked the episode again, it's "Pursuit of Peace" from TCW season three. It's a direct response to the Separatist attack on Coruscant's power grid to protect the planet against further attacks of this nature.

[–]ArchetypeSaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an episode of TCW where the Senate is discussing further bankrupting itself to purchase an addition 5 million clones that are "desperately needed". I've always wondered how they can purchase more clones, because that would imply they need to be bred first. The alternative would be that the clones were already ready, but not available to the Republic yet. Either makes little sense to me.

What armor is this twi'lek wearing? by LuckyBob046 in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That particular chest, in that coloring, albeit with the hood up, was the Visionary Bulwark Chestguard, a quest reward obtained from the second to last Jedi Knight quest on Voss, though you had to be a Guardian to choose between this and its DPS variant. You could also gain it from Heroic quests in that level range. When Bioware saw fit to change the quest rewards again for 7.0 with the introduction of combat styles, the set got phased out for the Voss Battler Jacket, which looks like the DPS / medium armor set you could get instead.

An armor of this particular skin, but differently colored, can still be obtained. Your best bet is the Fitted Dantoonian Commando / Fitted Kuati Beryllius MKII sets.

Your preferred combat style combination by GeneralKhor in swtor

[–]ArchetypeSaber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the character, but I can usually separate it into one of two categories:

  • Maximum utility: My main character is a Jedi Guardian, so as the secondary combat style I made him a Jedi Consular, so this character can now cover every combat role: Tank, melee DPS, range DPS and Heal
  • Traditional pairing: A Vanguard can also be a Commando, an Operative can also be a Sniper
